We spent a great week 12/10-12/17 at WDW. All Star Music was very nice, weather was great, crowds pretty good.

Christmas party was fun. My boys got a picture with the Zootopia characters and only waited about 20min. The singing group on the tomorrowland stage were very good, stage show was cute. We loved the fireworks and parade. We waited until after the first parade and got a spot just up from Casey's on the opposite side and watched the fireworks and then just stayed there for the parade. Great spot. My boys just wanted to ride rides so they started in Tomorrowland and made their way all the way around and rode all their favorite rides with no wait.

Candlelight Processional was great. We had Robby Benson and he was very good.

Got some great pictures. Santa Goofy and Pluto at AK were a lot of fun. Mickey& Minnie at AK were also good. The Santa at DHS was great. It was a nice setting for pictures and he looked just like santa.

We were supposed to fly home on saturday. Got to airport @ 10:30 flight was due to leave at 1:45 but kept getting delayed. After 4 1/2 hours of delays they finally load the plane and after sitting there for a time they came on and said everyone had to get off it was canceled. After standing in line behind 150 people to rebook we could not get a flight home until Monday night. Then we had to find a hotel. Everything close to the airport was booked so we called Disney and they didn't have any opening at value resorts so we ended up at Port Orleans French Quarter. We needed 2 rooms since there were 5 adults in our party. It was a nice resort but put a dent in the budget after 2 days. My son got sick on Monday before we left. Ran a fever, sore throat and ear ache. Flight was delayed again and almost missed connection in Atlanta (we had a direct flight originally on saturday), sat on that plane after boarding and then finally got home. It was 85 when we left Orlando and 16 when we landed in Akron-Canton.

We had a great trip. I think next time we will go earlier in Dec so not to run into weather issues when flying.

Sounds like you had a great trip until time to leave. I always worrying about the weather when traveling, but you never know when a storm might hit. Glad you made it home safely and hope your son is feeling better now.

Glad you had a great trip in spite of the delays! Ours was the other way, couldn't make it out of KC on the 18th, and no other flights out. :(

We are flying from Wichita to St. Louis to Orlando mid January and that is by far my biggest worry.

We are closer to Wichita, went for the cheaper KC tickets as it was a close to last minute trip, but not much way to correct it once it goes awry. Love the new Eisenhower airport, hope your flight goes smoothly!

Did you have to share buses at all? We will be at Music same week next year. How were bus lines in general?

Only had to share on the magical express from the airport. The lines were not bad. We liked it that they have tvs posted at the resort that tells you when the next bus is coming. They pretty much arrived at the time they said. Have a great trip!

When we were looking Wichita was a little more expensive but we would have to stay in KC and go up the night before so it didn't make much sense for us. We are only about 30 minutes from Eisenhower though so a little more money makes things easier. I haven't been to it since it opened up but I've heard good things about it

I'm so happy you had a great trip!! It sucks when a great vacation ended like that. But I would look at it as yay, One more night at Disney!!! It sounds like a great trip maybe a trip report is in order?

Have a great day!

Rough return home for sure! I hope you got a little bit of enjoyment out of that extra time. It is sort of a fantasy of mine that I get stuck in WDW. However, I realize the reality isn't all roses. You probably had things you needed to be home for!

Exactly! I would love to have to stay one more night lol.

Sorry you had such a rough time getting home. FWIW you can have bad weather and major delays any time of year though. We didn't do too bad last week with just a 50 minute delay returning because they had to take the time to de-ice our plane in Minnesota. But we once had a couple hour delay in April because severe Thunderstorms closed the airport and then on the return flight there was a 5 hour delay plus we had to circle the airport for an hour before we were able to land due to high winds, heavy rains and flooding back home.

But the crowd levels at MK in December have me rethinking this month anyhow.

Glad you had a fun trip!

It was kind of funny. I told the people I work with that I was going to stay in Disney and not come back. When I called my boss to tell him what happend he just laughed. He said that is what I told them before I left. He said enjoy the extra time there. We did enjoy the time, just not what we expected. My DH was supposed to drive to Chicago on Monday for work. They had to send someone else. Port Orleans French Quarter was very pretty.

I live in Akron! Sorry about your rough travels home, but glad you had a great trip and made it back safely.

Thanks. We like flying in and out of Akron-Canton because it is so close. Southwest is giving us each (5 of us) a $100 voucher. The flights were free with our points but at least it is something.

For anyone else in that situation, while standing in line, be on the phone! That way you're in two lines at once.

And weather can hit at any time. Early December isn't going to protect you necessarily. If some weather hits x area and the planes can't get to you, you're just as stuck as if the weather were in y area.
