MJS, we were at the RPC just after you left. We also were not all that thrilled with the service, but we still LOVED the place! I had to call to make PS's. I waited until about 40 days out before I decided they weren't going to call me. They were rather cold most of the time. I did finally get one that I would give mixed reviews. He was less than helpful, but I honestly think he's the reason we were in RPC instead of SugarLoaf Key. I'll detail it in my trip report...if I ever get it finished.
We only once got any kind of special treatment from mousekeeping. My son had left a note that said, "Thanks for the chocolate" on his pillow when we left for the parks one morning. When we returned after dinner, my dd found a bag of chocolates left in the vanity area. I don't know if it was a forgetful housekeeper or if she left them on purpose for my son. I'd like to think that she was creating a magical moment for him. It's something he'll never forget! Otherwise we had nothing special or extra.
I agree that, other than breakfast, food offerings were slim. Especially for the children. And what was offered was only adequate to hold you until you next meal. There was nothing so fantastic that I felt I had to go back for more. The display of what they had was very appealling though, wouldn't you agree?
I'm glad you had a nice trip. I would have loved to stay 2 weeks! We only had 4 nights there (one in Conch Key) and YES, I would go back.
DH also agrees that it was wonderful. He's a been there/done that kind of person. I thought this would be our one and only trip to WDW. He's ready to go back! (but not right away

) Next time it'll be more on a budget. No GF for us, unless I can sweet talk him into a night or two!
Lisa
