We just got back yesterday from 8 nights at the WL. My entire family are Poly addicts and we were very nervous to try WL, we have stayed at the Contemporary and Grand Floridian and left those two to go back to the Poly, so far the only other hotel we really liked was the Yacht Club but for the price difference I figured it was definately worth giving WL a shot. Well we absolutely loved it! We had requested an upper floor room on the north side of the building and were given a bottom floor room. Well this won't work because I could see my 1 year old running off every time we opened the patio door, so I went back to the front desk and requested a different room. Well we got the worlds greatest room, 6th floor north side of the building. We could see space mountain, astro orbiter, and the castle through the trees. We had a clear view of the Contemporary and were able to see the fireworks every night perfectly, it was awesome. If they would chop the tops off of about 3 trees you would have a perfect clear view of the castle at all times. The only bad thing about the room was that it was directly across from the elevator and so it was a bit loud in the hall way but we have 3 kids and all of them are used to sleeping while the others are making noise and DH and I are very able to block noise having 3 kiddos, LOL, so the noise was not a problem for us but would definately be for someone looking for total peace and quiet. Anyhow, just wanted to let everyone know how much we loved WL and I would be happy to answer any questions.

Glad to hear you had a great trip and enjoyed the WL so much :cutie:. We also love the Poly.....it's our #1 resort choice, with the WL running a very close second ::yes::. We are booked for our third WL stay in December and can't wait :santa:.

gald to hear you had a great trip. sounds like a great room. what room number were you in???

Great review! We are also Poly lovers and haven't been back to WL since 2003. We are currently booked there though. Can you tell me how packed the pool was? Was it hard to find lounge chairs? I have read alot of posts saying the pool is packed and there are no chairs in the afternoon. Thanks in advance.

Glad that you loved the WL. It one of my favorite with Yacht Club & BWI. Yes if only you could cut some of tree limbs off for a better view :rotfl:

There were definately a lot of people in the pool but it was never so packed that you felt like you didn't have room to swim and play around and there were always plenty of lounge chairs available. We were usually at the pool sometime within the hours of 1:00 p.m. to maybe 4:00 p.m. so I would guess this would be peak times and there was plenty of room.

Oh! You're just the one I'm looking for!! ;) I just posted about my back and forth crazy thinking about switching from the Poly to WL! Tell me, the pool vs. the Poly pool; did you all like it? Fun? Crowded? And what about atmosphere? We absolutely love the Poly and everything about. I am so worried that I would switch and be sad that I didn't go with my gut, you know? Thank you for whatever you have to offer!! :wizard:

We booked Woods View.

We definately liked the pool, DD (6) says the slide at the Poly is better but other than that the pool is much bigger so less crowded and definately lots of fun. I went back and forth a million times too. We love the Poly and were really concerned that we would be disappointed with WL. I was concerned about room size, general atmosphere, and transportation (we've been spoiled by the monorail) but we were pleasantly surprised and honestly never waited more than 5 minutes for a boat to MK or back from MK to WL. We will definately be booking WL for our trip next year. We loved it and figured that we spent about $400 more on our WL vacation in total including room, food, and junk (candy, toys, souveniers) than we would have spent on the room alone at the Poly so for us giving the WL a try was a wonderful decision.

My Dh and I were married at WL....we love it too!!! Last year we had a woods view on the same side of the resort as you and could sit on the balcony and watch the monorail go by, the castle change colors at night and of course the fireworks....it was awesome. We are going back for our 10th anniversary in a few weeks and we booked a courtyard view (a special treat for our anniversary) but now I am thinking we should have gotten woods again and tried for that same side!!! Our room last year was perfect...it was 4014...I think, but it was awesome!!!!

I just love reading about people who fall in love with the lodge too!!!!

I'm so glad you had a great time at the Wilderness Lodge. It's truly a magically wonderful place to stay. :wizard:
