We have been to WDW during Easter last year, and CHristmas this past year, as well as the pat 2 summers, but we cant rmember WDW being as packed as it was this trip. LUckily we used all the techniques you guys discuss here and managed the crowds ok, but it was packed like never before. Anyone else down there this past week that can gage this break vs. years past?

And I would argue that Easter is more packed than Christmas week. Any thoughts?

the week between christmas and new years is ALWAYS the most crowded. But easter is a close 2nd. The thing that helps easter is it's spread out over 2 weeks in stead of 1.

We just returned last night from a quick 6 day stay. I do have to say that I would not bother going over Easter/spring break again. Fortunately for us, we have been several times, we anticipated the crowd level and knew that we would not be able to do as much as we usually do. We arrived early to the parks and left by lunch time.......it was like salmon swimming upstream to get OUT of the park because thousands were just coming in! We "slept in" one morning and arrived at MGM an hour after it had opened. We immediately got a fastpass for ToT and it said 4:05 pm!!!!!!

I can't imagine what a family would think if this was their first trip!

I agree with Linda. We just returned and I won't go again at Easter. The crowds really slow you down. Luckily, we have been many times so parks weren't our priority but I did feel sorry for the people trying to visit the MK. We arrived at 7 am and left at 10:30. It was a sea of people! We were told that there were no available rooms onsite.

We did the same. Got to the parks at opening and left by lunch every day, but one day we got to AK a half hour after park opening and it was crazy. Not sure if we will do a Easter break again.

I totally agree. We just got back this morning. We have gone Christmas, past spring breaks and summer. This was by far the most crowded I've seen it. The crowd was gridlocked after Wishes on Wednesday in front of Plaza Pavillon. It was really pretty scary. I think it was the combination of spring break for many and Easter at the same time. Downtown Disney was a madhouse too!!

I was there too and felt it was gridlock. I don't know the criteria Disney uses when they decide to close a park, but IMO they were letting too many people in MK on certain days. There was a time when we literally couldn't move on Main Street for about 10 minutes. It really was frightening.

Then again, there are people who say that the crowds were "very managable" the week of Easter. I can't imagine how they can say that, but I always see the glass as half full (or in this case, overflowing)!

My idea of a relaxing family vacation isn't getting up at 6 AM, rushing to the parks, and then running from ride to ride in the morning. Then fighting to leave at noon, back to the resort, then back to the park in the evening. I'll stick to the off-season from now on.
