Some comments on the room and resort:
I paid $189/night with Garden View of the Gazebo. The room was very large and nicely decorated. I see no reason to pay for anything more that garden view (assuming you are not booking a suite). Once again the room was very large. It did not feel like a hotel room.
This trip I also did spend four nights at the Rosen downtown ($99/night). Staying offsite is a pain in the rear. Don't do it if you can avoid it (my wife was at a convention). Also, the rosen wanted $12/person/day for bus service to the parks. I drove which saved $54/day. Stay on Disney Property !!! Use Disney Transporation !!!
Next stay, I might consider a stay at a moderate or the swan or dolphin. They looked very nice and after all we were a the parks most of the time.
I went to all the deluxe resorts and walked the grounds. The Yacht Club was the Best. My second favorite was Animal Kingdom.
But keep in mind ALK is more expensive if you want savanna view.
The pool at ALK was very nice and the lobby was the best of all the deluxe resorts.
Back to the Yacht Club Comments:
no coffee makers in the room. bummer. Maybe I had to request one ?
Free usa today at the door every morning. That was nice.
Free parking at all the parks. That was nice.
Stocked mini bar in the room, however a beer was $5.00. No thanks.
Basket of candy and snacks for sale in the room (a little tacky). Before I could get it removed my 11 year old had already ate a $1.75 candy bar. A can of pringles was $5.00. No thanks again.
Grounds are very nice. You can even shop for a new car. They had a car show there and cluttered the grounds with new cars. So much for a Kodak moment, but this really didn't bother me.
No bus service to MGM or Epcot only boat service. A sign at the bus station stating this would of been nice. I made the mistake of going to the bus station but figured it out in about 10 minutes.
The pool was great except you had to rent the rafts $3.50 per hour per raft. Therefor for a family of five you were out about $20.00. No thanks.
We got the kitchen sink (giant ice cream sundae) at Beaches and Cream. That was a good deal $21.00 and it fed five.
Game room was o'k. About 5% of the games were broken and would take your money without any play.
Lastly, I will be posting my park strategies on the other baord in the next two weeks if your are interested in my thoughts.
