We're just back from the 3 night Wonder. After not cruing the Wonder in 4 years, I was expecting some changes, but found the trip to be just as "wonder"ful as in the past.

EMBARKATION: This was our first time getting to the port early, arriving about 10:50. It was so easy to get the luggage to the porters and parked--very close to the entrance to the lot--everyone was very helpful. The online check-in makes checking in a breeze. We had our Bahamas forms filled out, they verified the information, then sent us to the Castaway Club line where the CM reminded us only one in the party needed to be in line. We were in Boarding Group 3. We sat in the lounge area for maybe 20 minutes waiting for boarding to start. The only thing slightly annoying about the boarding was the mass of people in later boarding groups who insisted on standing right at the entrance to the boarding line. Once onboard, we went to guest services to get keys for the other room--very easy to do with noone in line. We had two cabins booked--and I wanted keys to both cabins. I think we were feasting on shrimp in Parrot Cay by 12:15.

DINING/SERVERS: OUr team of servers was the best we'd ever had. Herbert and Brent went out of their way to make it a great experience. brent even went to the 9th deck to get a fruit punch for DD's friend when she asked for it. He told her they didn't serve it in the dining room, but then got one for her. I thought the food in the dining rooms was very good. We had breakfast one morning in Beach Blanket, and were not too impressed, but it was close to closing time, so they hadn't replenished the food on the line. They did have a CM standing outside each dining area with anti-bacterial wipes for your hands.

ENTERTAINMENT: I forgot how outstanding the Disney shows are. The staging are so professional and amazing. It really makes the shows we've seen on other cruise lines look like high school productions. The movies playing were: Underdog; Ratatoulie (sp) and Pirates 3.

CASTAWAY GIFT: We were given lanyards with really cute pins when we checked in at the terminal. That night at turn-down, we got a canvas bag with two mesh bags in it--one was laundry size, the other a drawstring backpack. There were anti-bacterial wipes and two heavy plastic cups with lids; a small flag; and a small bound notebook/journal. We didn't make it to the returning cruisers party--it was around 4:30-5 on our Nassau day.

DVC Gift: We're DVC members and received door magnets and a really nice bound travel journal book. We didn't get to the DVC party either--It was Nassau day at 4.

NASSAU: It was pouring rain when we got off the ship. We caught the little bus to the festival marketplace-- nice to take the bus since it was raining so hard. We had previously booked a room at the Comfort Suites, AAA rate of $135. With tax, housekeeping charges, and energy surcharge, the total was $179 for 2 adults and two 15 year olds. The van taxi to the Atlantis took less than 10 minutes after we had a full taxi. It cost $4 per person, plus a $1 bridge toll, and tip to get there. They let us off at the Comfort Suites where check-in was a little slow. Our room was ready at 10, but we never made it to the room. By the time we walked over to the Atlantis the sun was shining, and the day remained beautiful. The walk to the Atlantis is very short; it is further from the front door of the Atlantis to the pool area. Let me say: pool area does not adequately describe this place. It really is water park--the lazy river comes equipped with rapids, etc. It was a wonderful day, and so worth the money. The ride back took slightly longer because traffic was heavier. We ate lunch there--I thought it was fairly reasonable. We got the family lunch: 4 good sized hamburgers with lettuce, tomato and onion; two large packs of french fries; and four drinks for $25. They do accept credit cards as well as cash at the food area.

Will post again--last time I tried this lengthy review, the boards froze up on me

Wasn't Hercules fantastic!!!! DCL needs to create a show just for Hades and Pain/Panic.

We were on the 8/23 Wonder and it was outstanding. All the CMs made our cruise so special for us. We got treated like royalty.

Glad you had such a great experience!!!

Recent returning Med'ers said word 'round the crew was that Hercules was being swapped out on the Wonder, bringing in Twice Charmed. As Herc was already gone last time I cruised the Magic, I was hoping it would still be on the Wonder when I sail in December.:cool1: Any new word about that?

CASTAWAY CAY: Still a gorgeous place, but very hot. As we were sailing away, the captain indicated that the temperature at 5:30 was 97 degrees! Unfortunately, we had all gotten too much sun the day before in Nassau, so we didn't get to do my favorite thing at CC--rent a float and float on the sea. DD and her friend rode the banana boats--we hadn't made a prior reservation, but were able to walk up at 11 and get right on one. It now cost $15 per person. DD and her friend loved it. They also rented one of the huge trikes ($15 for 30 minutes). This was more work than fun (according to them). I finally had a Conk Cooler (after sailing 6 times on DCL). They really are good! It was so hot, and our sunburn was hurting so, we went back on ship for lunch, and to enjoy the empty pools. The adult pool was not empty however, more people in there than in the goofy pool.

DRESS CODE: I admit, I love dressing for dinner on a cruise, so it was slightly disappointing to realize that DCL no longer has an appreciable dress code--the only limitations listed in the Navigator are no tank tops, and no swim suit attire in the dining room. Pretty much anything went on the cruise. I would say the first two nights 80% of the diners at the late seating were wearing jeans, shorts, or track suits. The last night was designated as dress-up night and so that night more people did dress for dinner. I miss the old dress code from the early days sailing.

DISEMARKATION: OUr allotted breakfast time was 7:45, where we were served very promptly. OUr food arrived before our drinks. We were off the ship by 8:20. Our luggage was together, except for my DD's bag. Someone (Jessica To**es) grabbed my DD's bag and took it. It did look amazingly like my DD"s bag. After filling out forms, we left the terminal 30 minutes late without her bag. DCL was able to locate the bag and sent it to the Magical Beginnings desk where we pick it up. Next time, Jessica To**es who flew COntinental--read the name tag before picking a bag up and checking it into Continental Airlines. It cost us over an hour of our time to locate the bag, plus the worry of realizing how much stuff my DD had in that bag that we might not get back.

A few additional items: In the shows, when they announce no flash photography, that really does mean everyone. I was so worried the performers would be unable to see after all the flash photos. Also, if there are announcements being made, even if they aren't in your language, please be quiet so others can listen to the announcements. Finally, READ THE LUGGAGE tags, even if you think you have the most unique bag (bright pink with green yarn tied to it), because it really isn't fair to others to make them spend their time tracking down their own bag.

I'll be happy to answer any questions.

Just thought of some more thoughts to add:

Staggered dining: I was confused by this after reading it here. I thought the dining times were staggered by restaurant, so that one night we'd eat at 8; the next night at 8:15, etc. The time you eat the first night is the time you eat all during the cruise.

Southwest: We flew southwest, and our 24 hour online check-in time was Saturday at 4. It took me less than 5 minutes and $4.00 to log on and print out our boarding passes. There is a printer in the promenade lounge area--each page cost 25 cents to print.

Pre cruise: OUr flight was later on Wednesday, so we booked a room at the Embassy Suites. Very convenient to the airport, and very convenient to the Beachline. Close by are a Publix, Walmart and two Walgreen's for drinks, etc.

Our cabins: we booked two Cat 11s gty and were thrilled with our upgrade to two Cat 7s. side by side on Deck 5. 5134 and 5136. The rooms were in pretty good condition, although the velcro on the closet doors was gone so our closet doors banged around the first night--the seas were rougher that we had experienced in the past. Also, our room steward seemed surprised that washcloths were part of the linens--we had to hunt him down and ask for one. Then he didn't give us any more. I had to take on off a cart for the last morning.

I was disappointed people did not obey the "No flash photography or video cameras" but I was more disappointed DCL did not enforce the rule. I never saw them once try to stop someone or even find out who did the flash. The guy in front of me was at the very end seat and flashing his videocamera all over the place. The light was distracting and so was the light on the display and no one said anything to him.

yeah the No flash photography or video cameras annoyed me when people were taking pictures, but I did it twice so I shouldn't talk, but I didn't have my flash on so at least I didn't really annoy anyone with a flash

Taking photos without flash is allowed, not that most people bother to do it that way. On the repo cruise, I think they might have been sporadically enforcing the rule early on, but by the end (Disney Dreams) I thought I was going to go blind. The worst is those stupid strobing flashes. They bring annoyance to a new level. DCL really does need to start enforcing this rule.

I was lucky. Most people at my shows turned the flash off. It was just a sea of video screens with people holding their cameras up.

Did Christiaan do his one handed cartwheel onstage? That was amazing. Wish I had the video camera on for that. I did catch him air guitaring during the pirate party. I would have taken a picture of that but I didn't have a clear shot.

I saw him do a cartwheel onstage and I tihnk it was one handed not sure. I have a video of him dancing at pirates party on deck 9, it might take a while to put my pictures and videos since I have over 500 all together on my camera cards

Its a one-handed cartwheel because he's holding the mic in the other hand. I asked him.

I was on the wrong side of deck 9 to watch Christiaan at the pirate party. I'll know for next time.

The Goofy we had was an amazing dancer at the pirate party.
