We're just back from the 3 night Wonder. After not cruing the Wonder in 4 years, I was expecting some changes, but found the trip to be just as "wonder"ful as in the past.
EMBARKATION: This was our first time getting to the port early, arriving about 10:50. It was so easy to get the luggage to the porters and parked--very close to the entrance to the lot--everyone was very helpful. The online check-in makes checking in a breeze. We had our Bahamas forms filled out, they verified the information, then sent us to the Castaway Club line where the CM reminded us only one in the party needed to be in line. We were in Boarding Group 3. We sat in the lounge area for maybe 20 minutes waiting for boarding to start. The only thing slightly annoying about the boarding was the mass of people in later boarding groups who insisted on standing right at the entrance to the boarding line. Once onboard, we went to guest services to get keys for the other room--very easy to do with noone in line. We had two cabins booked--and I wanted keys to both cabins. I think we were feasting on shrimp in Parrot Cay by 12:15.
DINING/SERVERS: OUr team of servers was the best we'd ever had. Herbert and Brent went out of their way to make it a great experience. brent even went to the 9th deck to get a fruit punch for DD's friend when she asked for it. He told her they didn't serve it in the dining room, but then got one for her. I thought the food in the dining rooms was very good. We had breakfast one morning in Beach Blanket, and were not too impressed, but it was close to closing time, so they hadn't replenished the food on the line. They did have a CM standing outside each dining area with anti-bacterial wipes for your hands.
ENTERTAINMENT: I forgot how outstanding the Disney shows are. The staging are so professional and amazing. It really makes the shows we've seen on other cruise lines look like high school productions. The movies playing were: Underdog; Ratatoulie (sp) and Pirates 3.
CASTAWAY GIFT: We were given lanyards with really cute pins when we checked in at the terminal. That night at turn-down, we got a canvas bag with two mesh bags in it--one was laundry size, the other a drawstring backpack. There were anti-bacterial wipes and two heavy plastic cups with lids; a small flag; and a small bound notebook/journal. We didn't make it to the returning cruisers party--it was around 4:30-5 on our Nassau day.
DVC Gift: We're DVC members and received door magnets and a really nice bound travel journal book. We didn't get to the DVC party either--It was Nassau day at 4.
NASSAU: It was pouring rain when we got off the ship. We caught the little bus to the festival marketplace-- nice to take the bus since it was raining so hard. We had previously booked a room at the Comfort Suites, AAA rate of $135. With tax, housekeeping charges, and energy surcharge, the total was $179 for 2 adults and two 15 year olds. The van taxi to the Atlantis took less than 10 minutes after we had a full taxi. It cost $4 per person, plus a $1 bridge toll, and tip to get there. They let us off at the Comfort Suites where check-in was a little slow. Our room was ready at 10, but we never made it to the room. By the time we walked over to the Atlantis the sun was shining, and the day remained beautiful. The walk to the Atlantis is very short; it is further from the front door of the Atlantis to the pool area. Let me say: pool area does not adequately describe this place. It really is water park--the lazy river comes equipped with rapids, etc. It was a wonderful day, and so worth the money. The ride back took slightly longer because traffic was heavier. We ate lunch there--I thought it was fairly reasonable. We got the family lunch: 4 good sized hamburgers with lettuce, tomato and onion; two large packs of french fries; and four drinks for $25. They do accept credit cards as well as cash at the food area.
Will post again--last time I tried this lengthy review, the boards froze up on me
