First time cruisers on Disney and to be honest it was just O.K. I didn't help that me and my wife were fighting colds for the 4 days. Check in on Sunday went really smooth. Boat is very clean and it seems that the crew members are always working. Everytime I went into a bathroom it was being cleaned. Our room steward was great and our waiter, Nickola and his asst. Aaron were fantastic. I thought the food was average at best. I had rack of lamb at Palo and it was really fatty. Wife had steak and it was good. If you stayed with beef at any of the restaurants you were O.K. Wish I would have stuck to this premise. Desserts at Palo and Tritons were very good.

We were hoping the kids would have spent more time at the kids clubs, but they really didn't like them much. We did get a couple of hours out of them and spent some time at the adult pool which was nice. Water was perfect in that pool. The Goofy pool was another story. The water was HOT! Not luke warm, but hot! That to go with all the chlorine was making me nauscous.

Golden Mickeys and Dreams were good and Toy Story was just O.k. The sail away party and Pirate Party was fun for the kids. The buffett after was probably the best food I had on the trip. Made to order crepes, fajitas and carved ham were very good.

One thing that kind of bothered me was the whole cruise casual. Cruise casual to me is polo shirts and dockers or golf shorts. Not wife beaters and cut off jean shorts. I mean come on people.

If Disney decided to do 2 days at Castaway Cay and never went back to the Bahamas that would be a good decision. What a miserable place that is. Must of had 25 people ask me if I wanted to take a taxi to Atlantis. Went to the straw market and got bombarded with people trying to sell my kids sea shells and fake purses.

Castaway Cay was another story. Very well run. Lots of fresh fruit and snacks. Chicken and fish were good. Did the stingray tour and all of us enjoyed it very much. Plenty of chairs and towels to go around. A very enjoyable day.

Would I cruise again on Disney? Maybe?? Don't know how soon, but I'd consider it. Would I recommend it to a friend? Not sure. From reading these posts for the last couple of months maybe my expectations were too high. It just didn't do it for me. It was just O.k.

This was pretty much the same impression I had after my first DCL cruise. For me the positives outweighed the negative and we continue to take that toddler of ours back so that I can relax on Castaway Cay.

keggero, I really appreciate your trip report...sometimes we all work it up as the most amazing family getaway (we're taking our first cruise in May, we signed up for the Med, so if I really don't like the cruise itself, I can't complain about seeing the Sistine Chapel and Amalfi Coast! :)) Horrible news about the pool, that's just gross...I hate hot pools! I would never pay full price for a cruise, but figure with deals, I can handle anything as long as it is clean..so that's good to hear!! :)

Thanks!
Tara

I am glad to hear that the pools were warm/hot. We cruise last December and the water in the pools was too cold for me to even get into. We are cruising again in January and I hope that the pool water is warmer.

I'm getting a little nervous; we are scheduled to leave tomorrow!!! for our 1st cruise on the Wonder and I've been reading alot of negative things about it. Specifically the Wonder; not the Magic. I have a 3 yo and was planning on her spending time in the daycare but, again, I have been reading alot of scary and negative comments about it. Mostly pertaining to the Wonder. I will DEFINITELY be checking in on her when she is there, and thankfully she is very verbal and will tell me if she doesn't like it but I'm having second thoughts about it. The reason I chose DCL is for the child care but I don't know anymore. I geuss I'll have to keep my eyes and ears open real wide.

Keep a close watch. We chose not to leave our 2 yo son a few weeks back. When we went by to check out the facility, there were 2 young kids in there (2-3 yrs old best guess) sitting around, watching TV -- no counselors nearby.
