just back from the pop-mini review any ?'s

Glad you had a good trip. We stayed there last December and did not have that great of an experiance. We are willing to give them another chance though.

We did not have a coffee maker in the room. I did not think it was worth it for the extra money for the 60's building. We stayed at 50's building 3. It was pretty close to the classic hall. The bus stops were a little behind that. I would request the 50's building. Not a terrible walk at all(and I have a bad back/leg, I had to borrow a wheelchair for 2 days last week. It was humilitating.) When you check in ask them to show you what room they have for you and show you on the map. You can always ask to change it.

Thanks for the reviews, they were great! We are looking forward to POP and your reviews make us even more excited!
Did you go to the arcade? How was it? Also, was the gift shop like the ones in the moderates or deluxes, or is it smaller? How was check-in, did you get in early? Thanks

we did the arcade on the last day and the kids had a ball. Some of the games took $1.00 but there were plenty for .25. I did not think that was bad. There were plenty of games.
The gift shop is in the classic hall.It is pretty big, I guess the same size as the moderates. We did go in the gift shops at the grand floridian, polynesian and animal kingdom lodge and thought that the pops gift shop was a little bigger. You will find everything you need there. I bought a few things in the park and found them there. Classic Hall is a huge building. It is divided into many things: Check in/registration,concerige,arcade,everything pop(gift shop),food court, some type of bar. There are probably more things in this building.
When we arrive, about 10:30am there was a very long line to check in. We waited on line for about 15minutes. Not terrible, it was the start of our vacation so we were excited. They had about 6/7 people working.
Enjoy your vacation.

i was going to ask if there was a bar....dh likes a beer most evenings :rotfl2:
but the poster above seemed to have indicated there was

You answered everything, thanks so much!! Anticipation builds with every day that passes. Glad you had a great time! :wave2:

I was at Pop last week too. The food court was a madhouse even as late as 10:00- 10:30 am. Walked thru there the morning we arrived and again the day we left. But that is pretty much the same at the All Stars resorts too.

I did not care for the location of the gift shop it's to close to food court. Only adds to the chaos I think. And those with little might have more problems with the I wants than need be.

There are other doors to the food court without goin thru the gift shop if I had littles I'd do that and hope they didn't see the gift shop till I was ready to take them there.

Other than that Pop was GREAT!!!!!! Bus service was the best I've ever had. Only waited one time for a bus and that was cause I was 30 seconds to late gettin to the bus stop wait was only 20 minutes.

More often than not the bus was already there or was just pulling up as we walked up to the bus stop at the resort and the parks. Never had to wait for more than 1 bus leaving the parks at closing time yet always managed to get a seat. Maybe because DH always got on bus 1st and he's a big boy and can look very intimidating to those who don't know him. lol

Our room was top floor of building 1 next to the far end. We heard very little pool noise just the normal toliets flushing and sometimes shower running. Nothing that disturbed us.

Never got a Mickey wake up tho always Stitch and I kept changing the wake up time to odd times every wake up. Never got no towel animals but they seemed to be in short supply on my floor on that end of the building. That might depend on your mousekeeper.

I didn't think I'd like Pop but I did don't think we'll ever be goin back to Sports which had been our home resort.

The DW and I changed our ressies for this October (2005) from Carribean Beach resort to the Pop. With gas prices escalating seemingly by the minute, we decided to revise our plans to include a more reasonable nightly room rate. (Hey, a dollar saved here and there means more time at WDW ...especially during The Food and Wine fess...)

As we've never stayed at the Pop before, can anyone provide up-to-the-minute answers to several questions???

Where should a childless couple stay for peace and quiet at the Pop? Realizing this is WDW and children will be children, we really do appreciate being away from noise generated by the excited little ones, bus transportation, the food court and poolside....

Are there coffee makers in the room? In my line of work, coffee supplied by IV is the norm... I don't want to get behind on my morning coffee fixes....

Are room safes available? In some of the posting I've read, it seems their availability is hit-and-miss (???)....

Are any rooms available with a refrigerator?

When driving a rental car from MCO, which WDW exit does one take from the real world?

Thank you girls and boys, ladies and gentlemen for your valued input....

We did stay in the 50's building facing the pool. It was a little noisy at night. I would request the 50's building facing the lake 4th floor possibly. I did hear that this is a quite spot and you can see the fireworks from epcot.
No, there are no coffee pots in the room. Sorry, you will have to go to the food court for your morning fix.
Yes, there is a safe in the room along with a hairdryer, iron and ironing board.
We did not rent a car so I could not help you with directions.
As for the refrigerators, I did hear some people post that they paid extra form them. Maybe they give you them free for medical reasons. I am not to sure about this.
We brought a collapsable cooler and filled it with ice daily. It worked out fine.

Thank you so very much for your quick response! DW and I are sitting here, planning out trip, and I thought to check for a reply which might have come by already.

In looking at the official WDW website, they state to utilize exit 65 to get to the Pop.

I believe we'll take a small electric kettle to boil water and use instant (yuck!). It will do the job, I guess...

Thank you again!!!
