Just back from the Poly

Terry what room were you in maybe we had the same housekeeper.
We also left our housekeeper $4 a day for 4 of us. Last year we also left the same for our house keeper and they never left anything, but we still had a wonderful vacation. Michelle

we stayed in the poly 10/31-11/3, after 4 days on the wonder.had concierge level(paid the extra for view, had a bad experiance in july at cont.with the view not guaranteed policy)stayed in 3053 i think, view was blocked a little by palm tree, but still everything i was hopeing for.room was cleaned everyday, no towel animals. told concirge before we left for trip that wifes birthday was the on the 5th, didn't expect anything since we were leaving on the third, but cake, balloons, noise makers, and party hats were in room at check in. staff was great, special thanks to barbara, she went out of her way.would book same hotel and level in a minute, little pricey, but hey it's vacation.

We have reservations for the Poly in Feb. I was relcuctant to stay there, but after reading wonderful reviews, we thought we'd try it. Now, after reading this post, I'm having second thoughts. It is only slighty more money to stay at GF. We have two boys, 12 and 9. Do you think the service and accomodations at the GF are better? How do the pools compare? The Poly's pool appears to be more geared to kids.

We just got back from WL (concierge) in October and did recieve towel animals about every other day. The lodgekeeper left us a note that we were to keep them, otherwise we would have left them behind. (we did keep them and they are now decorating our bathrooms- THANK YOU!). Anyway, the days they did not leave towel animals, they arranged the kids dolls and stuffed animals in unique and really cute ways (one time they made a "pool" out of the bathtub and had Elmo as the lifeguard and minnie and mickey in a 'towel tube' together etc. My kids liked the 'scenes' better than the towel animals. We're going to the Poly (non concierge) in Jan and Im really looking forward to that too- my daughter (age 8) even brings extra animals in her suitcase so that they have more to work with!
I dont change the sheets every night at home and certianly dont expect it at any resortl, altho' when they do it just 2-3 times a week is still a luxury as far as Im concerned.
Dont stress- the vacation is what you make of it. Try to relax about stuff. 2am screaming and crying swimmers need to be brought to the attention of the main desk (or whoever is on 'staff' at that time). Im sure that would be taken care of immediately.

Wow! They let you keep the towel animals? I thought that was stealing! At least that is what I was told when I took an adorable bunny, okay two bunnies, home on my first WDW trip! LOL! I honestly thought I was supposed to keep them but someone here told me I was wrong. Spoil sports! LOL!

Well, actually, if she hadnt written the note telling us to take them home and enjoy them, we wouldnt have taken them b/c I felt like I was stealing anyway- I even kept the note just in case someone 'caught' us. LOL

We has room 3815. Our mousekeeper, I believe, was named Lisbeth or something like that.

Towel animals aren't reserved for those in concierge either. We've stayed in concierge many times and have only once (on one day) received "towel animals". A mousekeeper did arrange our kids' beanie toys a couple of days (playing cards, sleeping on pillows, watching TV, etc.).

It seems to me that perhaps some of the mousekeeping staff are just more artistic than others. I neither expect, nor care, if towel animals are created for us as long as my room is cleaned and done before I return in the afternoon for a swim. Yeah, they are cute, but a clean room is more important to me and it is for the extra cleaning effort we tip.

You are right, however, about turn-down service. That is only automatic now at concierge level although all deluxe resorts will provide the service if requested (at least that's my understanding). I remember when this was just another aspect of the deluxe service!

well said "Adams66"....
we (my son and sister) just returned from the Poly 10/31-11/4 ~ stayed in Tokelau ~ didn't have towel animals but that was the last thing on my mind. Our garden view room was nice. My sister sat on the private patio in the mornings early and directed the 'passers by' LOL! they would see her sitting out there and ask directions ~ most of them were lost ~ funny! Anyway, we enjoyed the Poly very much ~ my second time at this resort!
Aloha!

We were in 3819 and our mousekeeper was debra. We didn't take them home with us but we did take a lot of pictures. Michelle

Thanks donnamerry-

By the way, do you think you enjoyed the patio more than a balcony?? I can't decide which to request for our stay in January. I know that I definitely don't want a room without either though.
