Hey campers! We just returned from our week's stay at the Fort yesterday and I'm taking a little break from laundry and unpacking to give you a little report. We were on the 300 loop - 342 to be exact - nice location close to the bus and a comfort station with decent trees. There were one or two tent campers in our loop but mostly A's and TT's. Not wanting to drive for 2 days and tent camp with a one-year-old, we chose to rent from Camp at the Fort. We stayed in the Wildcat 5th wheel - holy cats, what a nice trailer that is! Clean, spacious, perfect for our needs. We had a great time enjoying the parks and the Fort except for the yellow flies. Happily, they left the girls and DH alone, but I was an all-you-can-eat buffet for them.
Also, it was a lot hotter than we were expecting, but compared to the 40-degree temps we left behind in Chicago, we didn't care. It gave us an excuse to go to the pool more often. I really love the upgrades to the pool and so did my DDs. DD7 spent most of her time on the water slide while DD1 and I played around in the splash area a lot. I haven't been to the Fort since the upgrades and I am really impressed with the pool. It's about time!
Anyway, I'm going to make an actual trip report with more details on that forum, but just wanted to let everyone know we had a great vacation. Here's hoping DH can be convinced into purchasing a TT a few years from now. After staying in the luxury of a 5th wheel I'm not sure I can go back to a tent!
