Just back from the Fantasy...here are some notes and highlights

I think they started giving the tumblers out between February and June. Our January cruise was a photo album, but the June, and 2 September cruises we got the cool tumblers. They are very sturdy and are very practical. :)
Silly question. Are the tumblers for hot beverages also (coffee mug?)

Yes, It actually LOOKS more like a coffee mug than a drink cup. The lid has a coffee type of opening.

I don't drink coffee, but it sure does keep water cold. I bet it would keep coffee hot. :)

So this was a B2B 3N Dream and then 7N Fantasy?
Nice!
If so, did you drive to port and park, and what kind of advice do you have for B2Bs on two different ships? TIA!

B2B Dream/Fantasy would be 4-7, with a night in between.

It's not an actual insulated cup. As in a vacuum sealed area. But it has an air space between the inside and the outside. So, cold or hot. I've had both in there. It's a little better than a Styrofoam cup in keeping drinks hot or cold, but not as good as a true vacuum cup.

We just got back this morning from the 9-24 to 10-1 cruise to Tortola, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay. I miss the ice cream cones already.

1. The full Navigators were back in full force on this cruise. We had them every single day. It made me think I was dreaming from the week before on the 3 night Dream cruise we took.
2. Vista Café snacks and treats were back to being self serve. (this changed from a June cruise on Dream where it was not a help yourself situation)
3. We did not stop at St. Thomas due to some weather/wind issues...which was okay by me. Although my husband and son were sad for a few minutes as they had planned to do the Ziplining excursion.
4. The weather was beautiful but the second sea day we ran into some heavy whitecaps and winds.
5. We were lucky to have Captain Fabian guiding our journey. :)
6. Darren was CD (fantastic as usual) the entertainment team consisted of Kaitlyn, Maxx, Cody. Holly, Raff, and quite a few other really funny and entertaining folks.

I am trying to think of other things that I know folks were buzzing about the last few weeks. :)

Let me know if you have any questions and I will try to answer them based on our experiences this cruise.

We are going on Disney Fantasy 10/15 sailing.
We have cruised with Carnival several times but never Disney.
We are looking forward to the cruise.
Curious, what is full navigator?
Any advice of what not to miss?

The Navigator (the daily paper) is a 6 page paper. One large sheet (11 X 16?) that's folded, with an 8 X 11? single sheet insert. The insert has the daily activities in a grid form with the other side showing operating hours for the various venues.

There was a short test of just handing out the insert sheet for activity information onboard. But it now appears that the "full" Navigator is back.

You can find past Navigators here for an idea of the various activities available onboard: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/personal-navigators/

We are on the same cruise! I'm curious to find out how you'll like Disney after cruising Carnival. Hope you'll come back to offer some thoughts :)
We have only tried Disney (this will be our 4th cruise in 2 years, but after this we may try another line.

I'm sure there is no comparing Carnival to Disney when it comes to quality.

My husband and I are celebrating our 40th anniversary on this cruise so why splurge.

I dont think these cruises will sell. I dont know if you can plan 2 months out, but I would expect to see some good GT rates similar to what we saw this year on the longer European cruises. I would love to do the 10 day Baltic, but I need a MUCH better price. I have ideas about what Id like to do next year. I even have s couple of cruises booked, but Im not commiting to anything until I see what happens with this Baltic cruise. I should know by March. I'm not really eager to go back to Europe, but I wouldn't pass up an opportunity. The dollar is strong and the Europe market is weak so I'll take advantage of it if I can. We got two really good deals on European cruises this year that were totally unplanned.
Honest question: does it really matter what the dollar to Euro rate is on a Disney cruise, or whether the European market is weak right now? DCL does not lower their prices in response to the markets, nor their prices for their port adventures, do they? Have you seen significantly cheaper airfares? Or are you looking at pre-post cruise hotel stays that are cheaper with a stronger dollar? Again, sorry, this is an honest question.

When ships sail in Europe they depend heavily on Europeans sailing (the ship doesn't fill with Americans due to the cost of travelling over). When the market is soft and the Euro weak, travel among Europeans goes down and they are less likely to fill the ship - hence the hope for *GT rates on a ship that's not selling well.

And yes, DCL has had to do this in the past. If you do a search, you'll come up with several non-Caribbean/Bahamas sailings a few years ago where DCL reduced the rates dramatically. I believe they were on Baltic cruises but not 100% sure on the itineraries.

Yes they do. If a ship doesn't sell they offer discounts. Some public and some private. They don't let it sail empty. Americans are shying away from Europe due to terrorist concerns. My comment about the dollar was for me personally. I am more apt to go some place with a favorable exchange rate. Who wouldn't. Does not mean hotels will lower costs or airfare. I can tell you a trip to London right now will cost less in terms of hotels and food then it did back in June when we went. Due to the free fall of the British pound.

Our Iceland/Norway ship was mostly Americans. I would say 70%. European kids don't get out of school until July this is why you see lots of discounts on the May and June European sailings. Disney has to fill those last remaining 30-40% of left over rooms. IMHO I think the biggest reason they don't sell is because they are double to quadruple the cost of other cruise lines. At least that is my reasoning for not booking one.

So, is the tumbler ( No bag, no hat) the Silver Castaway Club in room gift? Fantasy to Eastern Carib. On Oct 22.
The basic Castaway Club gift (Silver) is a bag of some sort. Depending on the itinerary, it may be a beach bag, a back pack, a sling bag. The tumbler is the Gold level gift (you get both a bag & tumbler). For Platinum you get the bag, the tumbler, and a choice of a fruit bowl, sparkling wine, or truffles.

We were on the same cruise. Really counting our blessings considering the change in weather now impacting the area. Had an absolutely perfect day at Castaway Cay. The weather and water were spectacular. Disappointed we missed St. Thomas but the extra hours at C.C. were appreciated. Tortola was nice what little we actually saw. The port area is small. We visited Jost Van Dyke island that day.

Had a very nice meal in Palo. The waiter made our 40th anniversary dinner there very special. Tried Cabanas for dinner one night so we could attend a function during dinner time. It was OK but not as nice as a main dining room IMHO. Halloween costumes were great fun to see... lots of fun for young and old. A great cruise.

Just as I thought, DCL cruise was awesome!
Doubt if we will ever cruise Carnival again.
We were amazed from the time we stepped on the ship until the time we stepped off. Loved DCL

a normal cylindrical bucket with Disney characters wearing Halloween stuff and doing Halloween things.
Can you purchase these and refill throughout your cruise? Do you know the cost of the original purchase or refills?

We just got off yesterday (10/22-29 eastern sailing) and this is the bag we got as silver member!
Ooo...we'll be Silver in February. Really like the bag! Hope they don't change it.
