Check in was on july 4th around 7am and boy was it great to wait in no lines and have such a friendly castmember checking us in!! We had a standard room booked under my AAA discount and because of this we are a starwood preferred plus guest so we were upgraded for free to an epcot view room with a balcony. Our Room was on the third floor and we were facing disneys boardwalk. We could see the fireworks from our room but we did have an obstructed view of the epcot ball due to some palm trees. We also heard the horns from the friendship boats that passed by our room every morning. We did have a problem with the sheets being very dirty and comforter upon check in and an allergy problem with the feather/down pillows they provide but eventually everything was solved!! The Hotel was beautiful and the only way you could tell it was alittle different from disney was that you saw alot of conventions going on and big business deals in the lobby. If you have any questions please ask away!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Thanks for your report....
Did you tell them you had the Starwood Preferred Card when you made your reservation, or did they upgrade you at check-in? I want to stay there in September.

Can anyone who is an AAA member get a Starwood Preferred card and if so could you tell us how......... Thanks

Hey donaldgrl, welcome back. We can't wait to go back to the Swan before the Poly in September. I'm glad you had a wonderful trip! What was the deal with the sheets? Did they forget to change them from the last guest?

Just call SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest) and let them know you are a AAA member (you will have to give them your AAA number) They will re-issue you a new card with preferred plus status.

Just like treehugger said is true you must become a starwood preferred guest at spg.com and then call them up and tell them you have AAA and they will upgrade your membership. I dont know what happened with the sheets but it was pretty yucky but it was fixed:rolleyes: It was also noted on my reservation that I was starwood preferred guest but upon check in they automatically upgraded me!!

I'm confused. Do you can become a starwood preferred guest by joing up on spg.com; then once you're a member, you can call them up and give them your AAA membership and you get upgraded?

I've got a standard room booked in Aug with my AAA discount, and I would love it if I could somehow get a free upgrade. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks.

mrspaha,
Yes, you are correct. If you are not a spg member yet you can just call them and join at the AAA Preferred Plus level. We are SPG Gold (automatically upgraded when we got their AMEX card) but the AAA Preferred Plus status gives you alot of the same benefits, ie: room upgrade and late check out, when available. Have a great time! :D
