Just a quick note to post the negatives and positives we encountered.

Overall we had an enjoyable stay at the Contemporary. We had a standard view room in the South wing with connecting rooms on the 2nd floor.

Positives:
-Loved the location. For the price we and having monorail access was a HUGE plus since we had a sick toddler with us.
-Arcade. Who knew a 4 year old would love the arcade more than the parks... :rotfl:
-Room Size. They are huge and in decent shape. You can tell it needs to be remodeled but still in very good shape.
-Beds- I found these beds to be more comfortable than any other that we have stayed at.
-Mousekeeping-Excellent during our stay. My 22 month DS got really sick on this vacation they were very accomodating in coming when we were out of the room. We even got towel animals 3 times!!
-Shopping! I loved the stores!
-Walk way to MK... Loved it!
-We could see the monorail from our room. DS 4 loves loves trains... So this was a huge hit.
-Fireworks from the observation deck!

Negatives:
-Didn't receive any of my building requests. I requested North Building. We were given the choice of North Wing without connecting rooms or connecting rooms on the south. We needed to have connecting. Not a big deal just a little let down.
-BUGS BUGS BUGS.... Not in our room by it was impossible to swim at night on most evening and getting to our room through the walk way was gross. I am not talking about the casual bug. These bugs were attracted to anything WHITE... so the whole walk way was covered and so was the pool area.
-Food Court-Needs more selection. It was OK. I am sure it's because they have many restaurants on site.
-Many have said this location screams DISNEY... I beg to differ... It felt very sterile coming home to this resort. The rooms scream Disney, the shopping screams Disney but the lobby and grounds are very boring. IMO.... I know this is the whole Contemporary look but I wish it had more to it. Perhaps I was spoiled by the Poly and AK.

Overall comments. I would stay here again. I think the wing rooms are a fantastic deal for the price and convience. If you have small kids and cannot afford Poly or GF then this is a great option. I perfer the feel of the POLY more than CR. However, I would not pass up a great deal at this resort!

Let me know if you have any questions...

Thanks for the report. Sounds like you had a GREAT trip.

We will be there Nov. 23-27.

I was going to request North building too.

Did you find the South less convienent to the Tower? How far into the wing were you?

I am just wondering if my request should be "I would prefer as close to the tower as possible" or if I should be more specific.

Welcome back. Wasn't the South Garden Wing closed for renovations?

Ah, bugs....welcome to Florida!

Finally, someone else who was in the South Wing. I have seen so much info where people keep saying the South Wing is closed, so I was shocked that we were put there during our trip in September. We were there Sep. 16-23, second floor, connecting rooms, overlooking the construction pit. Recently on Allears they posted that the South Wing was closed and I wrote them and told them I was just there and it is not closed. I agree, the night bugs were horrible, esp. walking the corridor to the So.Wing building--they got all over our clothes and in our hair. Parking was equally horrible in the so.Wing lot. I too love the CR, but with all of the issues around the So.Wing building, the rest of my group did not like the CR. I recently got my survey for my CR stay and told them everything that made my visit unmagical. I will have a hard time convincing my family to go there again. Maybe if they get a DVC, then we'll be back, since we are new members of the DVC now. Sounds like you made the best of it, even though there were some negatives during your stay.

Thanks for your report. We stayed in the Tower the week before you. We also loved our stay and with little ones the location cannot be beat.

Sorry about the bugs. We didn't swim at night, so we didn't encounter any. I agree with you about the grounds. That pool should definetly be the 1st thing to go. Welcome Back!

Yep we were in the South Wing looking the construction pit too... The view didn't bother us too much. Especially since we had a great view of the monorail. As for parking we didn't have any issues with parking. However, I did notice A LOT of the contruction vehichles were taking up spots when it was clearing posted not too.

I personally feel both North and South are just as far from the main building. The only thing that North has going for it is closer to the bus stops and MK...Plus no contruction.

South building was 1/2 closed down.. I didn't like the green barriers around the building either. You had to walk all the way down to the main entrance to go to the pool. It would have been a much closer walk if they had the midway entrance to the pool area open.

We decided when we go back in 07 we are definately staying at the Poly again. We missed it so much...

We like the Contemporary but we LOVED the Poly...

Did you notice any problems with the elevators in the Tower area? We've always gone to Chef Mickeys for dinner on previous visits (and staying at other MK hotels) and always noticed a huge backup for the elevators. Now that we're scheduled to go next June, we're concerned about that maybe being a problem.

We stayed at CR 9/30-10/8. We were supposed to be in a wing room, but were upgraded to 12th floor towere due to problems with my reservation. Anyway, I agree with you about those bugs! We did swim at night and didn't have too much of a problem there, (except that the hottub was full of them), but we couldn't even open the door to our balcony without the entire ceiling getting covered in little green bugs. It was gross. Do you think it was due to the wet, humid weather we had? All in all, we love the CR and thought the room was wonderful.

No we didn't have any problems with the elevators. Sometimes they were busy but it wasn't too bad.
