this was our first trip home to ssr 8/21-8/26-and it was great, buses were amazing, resort is large, we were in congress park 2301 which was dd view 3rd floor. with no car, it was walkable to the springs but you also had the option of just hopping one of the park buses and you could get off at the springs. there is an internal bus also but was far easier just to get on the first bus that showed up and get off at the springs. loved the smell of the lobby-really loved that smell, woodsy like. does anyone know what that is? more later, cannot wait to go again.

Glad you had a good time at SSR, it is our favorite! We'll be there in 26 days, woo hoo!

Glad you had a good trip! Does Disney scent the lobbies? I guess I wouldn't put it past them! I usually have a pretty sharp sniffer but didn't especially notice scented lobbies on my last visit - I may have been so overwhelmed visually that the nose lost out, I guess. I will pay better attention next time! :)

Glad you had a great stay at SSR! We love it, and have stayed 2x so far. We are staying at the BWV for our October trip to be closer to Epcot for the Food & Wine Festival. I am wondering how much we will miss SSR once we get there. We think the resort is excellent!

Scented lobbies ?

I recently watched a program on The Travel Channel - they spoke about
upscale hotels using scent.

Interesting.......

So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. Our first trip "home" is in december. We can't wait. We loved the lobby smell in both the WL and AKL so maybe Disney does scent the resorts. My nose eagerly awaits the SSR lobby now!

I always wondered how each Disney resort could smell so differently so maybe they do scent their lobbies. I love the smell of BC and WL lobbies!

I'm glad you enjoyed your first stay at home!

Sounds like you had a great trip.

Our first trip "home" is still over 9 months away. I'm always happy to read good reports about my "home." Do you have any pics? If so, we'd love to see them!

I think it is the same fragrance as the Spa. Mystical Forest.

:thumbsup2

Thanks for the report! SSR is our favorite too.

I love that smell!! I won the Spa prize at the member update in June and it was Mystical Forest Body Wash and Lotion. It smells awesome!! It is woodsy/eucalyptus'y and smells great and Spa-like in the bath.

I couldnt believe it was $18 each on www.relaxedyet.com! I am now rationing it for my days I really need to be taken away! :rotfl:

I'll probably end up purchasing another bottle when we return later this year. :wizard:

I dont remember it in the lobby, but its probably subliminal to get you to purchase $18 body wash! :lmao:

We stayed in Congress park too and hopped on the bus sometimes. We walked most times, but if a bus was handy, we used it! :goodvibes

When I went to DL, we took the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" Tour and our guide told us that Disney was the first company to use scents as advertising. When you walk down Main Street and smell the candy, the cookies and the popcorn-it may not all be from the stores! Walt wanted the smells to be part of the experience, so they are pumped out into the street. Since Disney is so good at doing that, I'm sure they are using scent in the resorts to set the mood as well.

There is a "Disney smell" that you get no where else. If they sold that stuff in spray cans-I'd go broke!!

Oh, it makes total scents. :lmao: Ok - sorry........I mean it does make sense that they would do that. The sense of smell is supposedly hardwired to memory and smelling a familiar smell can sometimes make you feel like you've all but gone back in time! No wonder we all feel like kids again when we are there. :)

rubbergypsy - thanks for getting us started thinking about scents!

Oh rubbergypsy - you said the busses were amazing....could you elaborate on that at all? We are planning to bus it from SSR in January, in spite of reading several reports that having a car at SSR is the only way to go. I suppose they may indeed run more frequently during the summer months, but I was interested in hearing more about that part of your experience, if you don't mind sharing.

Glad to hear you had such a nice trip. We'll be staying there for the first time in October. I can't wait! :thumbsup2

We were at SSR in March and had very few problems with the busses.

There was once after one of the parks had closed that a few of us from SSR & a few from OKW were waiting quite a while (10 -15 min). The SSR bus finally came and took the OKW people as well.

we would go and sit at the bus stop and within minutes there would be a bus, sometimes another right behind it, it could have been because crowds were so low last week, but basically we never had to stand on a bus-none of them were ever full, really weird, we had stayed in may at pop and yikes the buses were a nightmare. way overcrowded. another nice thing without a vehicle is that if you were anywhere other than the springs you could just hop on any park bus that arrived at your stop and take it to the springs, which has the main pool, check-in etc.. there is also an internal bus that goes around the resort, when coming back from any park the route went as follows, first stop was carousel, then the paddock, then congress park and finally the springs. same for going out the resort, the order that is. we loved saratoga and i am so happy it is our home resort. i cannot wait to go back. planning a short feb trip home. i will miss it until then. just beautiful

How where the crowds at the parks?? How was the heat & humidity? Glad you had a nice trip.
