I really mean it when I say it was the best trip ever. We weren't granted any "Magical Moments" by the Dream Team but, it was a very magical trip anyway. We were there from 4/20-4/26. We checked in at 10am and was told my Grandstand room was not ready. I did however make a last minute request to be in the Grandstand section closest to the pool. It was at this time that the CM checked and found a 1BR that was ready.
It was so nice to be able to drop our stuff off and start our vacation. The room was in perfect condition and we were very happy with our location.
The weather was great last week. The average temp was 80-85 during the day and 65-70 at night. Also, it never rained once. We enjoyed both the main pool and the Grandstand pool on several of the days. We actually like the Grandstand pool better. It was the perfect pool for young kids. My DH and I could actually sit for longer than three minutes at a time the kids were thrilled to splash and play in the water spray area. This alone made the trip more relaxing than any other trip before. I didn't have to worry about the kids getting to close to the edge of the pool. They never even asked to swim in the Grandstand pool. ( it was a bit chillier than the main pool) It was so nice to relax and watch the kids having so much fun. I recommend this pool for anyone who has small children.
We did make it over to the main pool too. My DD5 loved going down the big slide. We also had lunch poolside from AP and it was DELICIOUS!!! I had the buffalo flatbread, DH had the cheese burger flatbread and the kids had the chicken nugget meal. Everything was great. I really enjoyed the homemade chips they served with kids meal.
We did have the DDP and found it worked out well for this trip. we ate at Le Cellier, Boma, Kona, Chef Mickey, Hollywood & Vine w/ Fantasmic and Cape May Cafe. I didn't particularly care for Boma and I thought CMC was just okay. Nothing, however was terrible and we ate well (too well) for the entire week.
We did have our own car, but we did use the bus transportation on three different days. We never waited any longer than 10 minutes. Most of the time it was more like 5min. The longest wait of 10 min was at the MK after the P&PP. We also loved that we could park our car right in front of our building.
We also celebrated my DD third birthday. We got her a pin at the MK and it was nice to hear all the CMs wish her birthday wishes. My DH had a massage at the spa. He said it was great and felt like he was
after.
I can't say enough how wonderful we thought SSR was. I am fairly new to DVC (2005) and I have only stayed at BWV and OKW before this trip. I have always had the mindset of trying all the resorts at least once. However, I am really having a hard time thinking about staying anywhere other than SSR next April. It was just that nice!!! I know that I will end up trying another resort, but this is the first time that I am not chomping at the bit to do so.
So there you have it!
