I really mean it when I say it was the best trip ever. We weren't granted any "Magical Moments" by the Dream Team but, it was a very magical trip anyway. We were there from 4/20-4/26. We checked in at 10am and was told my Grandstand room was not ready. I did however make a last minute request to be in the Grandstand section closest to the pool. It was at this time that the CM checked and found a 1BR that was ready. It was so nice to be able to drop our stuff off and start our vacation. The room was in perfect condition and we were very happy with our location.

The weather was great last week. The average temp was 80-85 during the day and 65-70 at night. Also, it never rained once. We enjoyed both the main pool and the Grandstand pool on several of the days. We actually like the Grandstand pool better. It was the perfect pool for young kids. My DH and I could actually sit for longer than three minutes at a time the kids were thrilled to splash and play in the water spray area. This alone made the trip more relaxing than any other trip before. I didn't have to worry about the kids getting to close to the edge of the pool. They never even asked to swim in the Grandstand pool. ( it was a bit chillier than the main pool) It was so nice to relax and watch the kids having so much fun. I recommend this pool for anyone who has small children.

We did make it over to the main pool too. My DD5 loved going down the big slide. We also had lunch poolside from AP and it was DELICIOUS!!! I had the buffalo flatbread, DH had the cheese burger flatbread and the kids had the chicken nugget meal. Everything was great. I really enjoyed the homemade chips they served with kids meal.

We did have the DDP and found it worked out well for this trip. we ate at Le Cellier, Boma, Kona, Chef Mickey, Hollywood & Vine w/ Fantasmic and Cape May Cafe. I didn't particularly care for Boma and I thought CMC was just okay. Nothing, however was terrible and we ate well (too well) for the entire week.

We did have our own car, but we did use the bus transportation on three different days. We never waited any longer than 10 minutes. Most of the time it was more like 5min. The longest wait of 10 min was at the MK after the P&PP. We also loved that we could park our car right in front of our building.

We also celebrated my DD third birthday. We got her a pin at the MK and it was nice to hear all the CMs wish her birthday wishes. My DH had a massage at the spa. He said it was great and felt like he was:cloud9: after.

I can't say enough how wonderful we thought SSR was. I am fairly new to DVC (2005) and I have only stayed at BWV and OKW before this trip. I have always had the mindset of trying all the resorts at least once. However, I am really having a hard time thinking about staying anywhere other than SSR next April. It was just that nice!!! I know that I will end up trying another resort, but this is the first time that I am not chomping at the bit to do so.

So there you have it!:thumbsup2

Wow! A positive post about SSR. I love it. Now aren't you glad you tried your home resort? Isn't the pool in the Grandstand section huge for a "quiet" pool? SSR is our home resort too. We'll be there next month. BTW, what were the last two digits of your room number? And what kind of view did you have?

Thanks for the info. A pool view. :thumbsup2 I like to compare room numbers to the SSR map I have to try and get the "best" room. Pitiful, I know.

BTW, cheeseburger flatbread must be new. They didn't have that last May. Anything else at AP you would suggest?

How awesome! This will be our 3rd trip to SSR and after bashing it miserrably on our first trip, we ended up having a terrific stay the next time! I am looking forward to next week's trip!!!

Glad to hear you had such a great vacation, and loved SSR. We own at SSR, but I have not stayed on our last three trips  The other resorts have been great, but I really want to get back to SSR. We stayed at BWV's in Oct 06 for the F&W Fest, and loved the atmosphere of the Boardwalk. My wife stayed at SSR in Jan 2007, but I did not go on that trip with her. This past February we stayed at OKW, and again really enjoyed the resort, but my home was calling me. Especially being so close and driving by, or taking the boat to DTD had me wanting to get to SSR.

I was all set to book SSR for our October 2008 trip, but my sister's family has wanted to go to WDW with us for awhile now, and they finally decided this October would work for them. So, we are getting a 2 Bedroom, and to save on points we are going to OKW.

Don't get me wrong, I am not disappointed (I am still going on vacation to WDW), but I have really been wanting to get back to SSR.

Some places are just made for some people. That is soooo obvious here on the DISboards. Glad you had a magical time. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the report. SSR has improved quite a bit since the first units opened. It's really matured well. The trees and other foliage have made it feel and look even better. The addition of the Grandstand pool area has also been a big plus for the resort.

We also really enjoy the Grandstand and main pool areas. I maybe in the minority but I really think the main pool is one of the best DVC pools on property.

Glad to hear you had a great vacation at SSR. We are going in August. It will be our first time at SSR and our first time in a 2br because we're bringing my mom and stepdad along too. Thanks for your positive report!

Your report has me very glad I'll be staying at SSR next month. Thanks for posting! :thumbsup2

Glad you had a great trip...thanks for posting...

I was in WDW last week also.....the weather was PERFECT:worship:

Thanks for the great report on SSR! I'm checking in for a Saturday - Saturday and can't wait! You're TR didn't help calm my excitement either!!! We are heading out of MD tomorrow at midnight and plan to get to Orlando a day ahead of schedule so we can get to SSR and hope we get our GS request! I hear so much good stuff about that area and I really want to stay there!!! Thanks again!

Thanks! You've bumped my excitement for my 1st trip home to SSR in June (although I have 2 days at VWL first). I've been a little nervous, since it's not our first choice resort (we bought where we got the best deal vs. our favorite), but your report has made me feel better!

thanks for a wonderful report! I will be going home to SSR for the first time in August and was starting to get nervous!!

Thanks for the report, I'm glad you had such a great trip!! :) We've had 3 wonderful trips to SSR so far with the 4th later this year. We kinda want to try out some of the other DVC's, but we haven't been able to pull ourselves away from SSR yet. :cloud9: I can't wait to have the flatbreads again...the ones you had sound delicious!

We were at SSR last week also and we love our home resort. We found the food at AP very good and the line situation looks to be much better. My DH and I walked from SSR to Westside and back to the resort on 2 mornings. We never made it to the main pool because the pool at Congress Park has such a great view. It is great to hear good things about SSR. I'm returning the first week of June with a girlfriend to relax and enjoy the spa.

My daughter and I just got back only had a one night stay 4/26 at saratoga after a 6 night stay at boardwalk. On arrival we got an upgrade to a one bedroom from a studio very nice. I said we did not have a car and we got a room in the springs third floor over looking the road and the side of check in building.

The room decor and pool very nice and I have stayed once before right after opening. The resort is really big if you don't have a car and I had a hard time walking around to find the right building not very good markings on buildings and they all look alike. We even had hard time finding the door. Maybe DD and I just aren't very bright.

The toilet is in a very small room of the bathroom and it smelled. Sort of the smell when you have small boys with poor aim. We did not get to the resort until 5 pm and we had ADRS and we were cheking out in the am so I did not call housekeeping but I did mention it on check out at the front desk and he said that is unacceptable and he would take care of it. In the kitchen the counters still had crumbs and sticky stuff and the flipper in the drawer still had eggs on it.

Bus transportation was very slow 30 min wait for bus to DDD and 40 min wait for return we could have walked faster. 30 min for bus to and from AK and it also goes to BB and all the stops in SS either 4 or 5 I can't remember. The person stationed at the bus stop in the morning said people should complain to the manager that each resort pays for a certain amount of pick ups and they want to keep the fees low. He said the best service is from the values.

we enjoyed our stay boardwalk better for transportation ability to walk to 2 parks and the room was much cleaner.

We also really enjoy the Grandstand and main pool areas. I maybe in the minority but I really think the main pool is one of the best DVC pools on property.

I'm with you, I think the main pool is great. My only wish is that is was bigger...

I have to admit, while we stayed at the BWV's, we walked over to BCV's and that pool is simply amazing. Our daughter loved the sandy bottom -
