My husband and I stayed our first four days in a 1 bdrm Savannah view at AKV. We had room #7210 which was lobby level and a great location. We loved our room and only complaint was that yes, it is rather dark! We spent every evening on the balcony watching the animals and listening to the wonderful quietness of the Savannah. :)
The underground parking was so convenient and kept our car nice and cool. I would highly recommend the Sanaa tour (that someone previously recommended on the boards.) I was the only one that day to take the tour and the guide was very informative and the chef was very generous with treats!
The walk to Jambo house was about 5 minutes from our room and we enjoyed walking over at night to have a drink at the bar. Much more crowded at Jambo house and great to get back to the quiet of Kidani.
We played golf two days at Osprey Ridge and Magnolia. Saw "Big Al" the alligator on the 6th hole and that was the only highlight of my game. :goodvibes
I surprised my husband with Hoop de Doo tics one night and then a Haunted Carriage Ride after at Fort Wilderness. The food was great at the Hoop de Doo and I would highly recommend the Haunted Carriage ride! We listened to an audio story as we rode the carriage and heard the tale of Ichabod Crane. At the end of the ride you see the headless horseman and it is quite dramatic!
Then spent 3 nights at Vero Beach in a 1 bdrm, Building 15, ocean view room. We ate at Squid Lips our first night then an evening at Dockside (great!) and Waldos (also great). If you are into good Happy Hour places these are the places to go. Waldo's is right on the water and from 4 - 7 has 1/2 price drinks and free taco's. Score!:woohoo:
We always eat breakfast at Country Ham and Egg's in Sebastion. For others that like this place they have moved just down the street but food is as great as ever!
The last day we drove north along the coast from Vero to Cocoa Beach and then to MCO for our flight back. The town of Cocoa had some quaint shops and we would highly recommend "Coconuts on the Beach" for lunch. Funky place but good food.
Can't wait for our next trip!

Thanks for the intel. WE've never stayed at Vero, but have been curious to hear firsthand accounts. The Haunted/Ichabod Crane tour sounds really cool, too!!

Waldo's is in the town of Vero Beach. Takes about 15 minutes at the most to get there. It's just next door to Gloria Estevan's restaurant.

Thank you for the report. We are doing this trip in reverse next spring. The other difference is that we will be 4 days at Vero and 3 at AKV. Is the Haunted carriage tour only done near Halloween?

Sounds like you had a great trip. Dh and I will be doing a parents only trip next Jan, and I'm excited about it already.
Thanks for the report.

Isn't it just amazing? I love it in the morning too. Waking up to have breakfast on the balcony with the animals! Only at Disney!!

I believe the Haunted carriage is over by mid November. But, they always have the hay rides outside of Pioneer Hall. It's a favorite thing to do.

Cyndi,

Yes, I agree! I think that's why we haven't got tired of it yet!

The Sanaa tour sounds great! I'm hoping to break awaay from DH & the kids for a bit next week to take it myself!

And thanks for the Waldo's tip- seems like a good happy hour. Now, if I could just get out of the pool in time to go....:rotfl2:

Thanks for the report! How far from the lobby were you? We're staying at Kidani in 2 weeks and would love a low floor room, but one that's not too close to the lobby as we don't really want to hear people's converstations from the observation areas.

7210 was about 1/2 way between the community hall and the elevator to the parking garage. Very convenient and very quiet.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm thinking about adding that room number request to our ressie for next week.
