Just back from POR

Just got back from POR last night. We were there for four nights, 9-23 to 9/27. We checked in around 10:00 a.m. Monday and our room was ready. We asked for second floor of building 18 in AB and got 1848, a corner room. The two windows were a nice addition. The room was clean as long as you didn't look TOO hard. The corners were dusty behind the beds and there were cobwebs over one window and above the air vent over the sinks.

The bath tub faucet was so loose it wouldn't stay where you set it, and drifted to hot by itself. I called maintenance twice and no one ever showed up to fix it. Oh well. We ended up just stuffing a wash cloth behind it to hold it in place.

The grounds were beautiful and well kept. Everything seemed clean and fresh. There is new maintenance work going on outside the food court -- they were putting up scaffolding on Monday and the water wheel and cotton mill weren't running.

Buses were efficient and even though the resort seemed crowded we never had to wait and always got a seat. Coming back from Epcot one night around 8:30 we waited 15 minutes along with about 100 others. The transportation coordinator came along and radioed for more buses. Within a minute two more showed up, then a third. Everyone got on and off we went.

The buses always stopped at FQ first, then came to Riverside South stop and exited around the river stopping at all of the other stops along the way.

The food court was good and Boatwrights was excellent. If you eat at Boatwrights, the pork chop is outstanding (and huge).

It appeared all of the buildings were open.

Any questions, just ask and I'll try to answer.

Bob

Glad you had such a nice time overall!! We are ging to be there next weekend!!:D

Hi Tnkrbell,

We had a fantastic time. The parks were not crowded, except for MK, and while we were at MK it rained hard for several hours and cleared the park! We got to stay on several rides including Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

It was VERY hot and humid all week, but we didn't let that stop us! Enjoy your trip.

Welcome back. Did you hear of any "talk" about the definite date of pool renovations, ie, fixing the boarded up bridge etc. Is it still on for January?

Welcome back! Thanks for the review! Glad you had a good time and were able to overlook a few little things!

Hi Jillpie,

We didn't hear anything about the pool rehab work. Funny, it seems the cast members are always the last to know what's going on. This board has better, more accurate info than anything you hear at the resort. I wish Disney would simply publish what they're up to.

I just got back from POR on the 24th and I had the same feeling. We stayed in one of the mansions.

Hi Dallas_Lady,

I think POR needs a thorough, deep cleaning and fix-up. The wall paper in our bathroom was peeling in two places, and there was a decorative piece missing from one of the window blinds. I love POR, and like someone said in your thread, at least the beds and bathroom are clean.

We left the room one morning just as Mousekeeping was coming in. We had forgotten something and went back about 10 minutes later and the room was done. Obviously they only do the surface cleaning daily, but you'd think once in a while they'd really go after the corners.

My biggest peeve is the tiny light in the bathroom. I hate showering in the dark! :(
