Spent a long weekend @ POR - all of my requests were met except the corner room, but my res. had a note attached that there were no corner rooms available in either building I requested. Our room was in Acadian House - they gave us a choice between it or AB 38 (the other bldg. we requested) - this room was ready, so we took it. Very clean, super quiet, & mousekeeping cleaned it daily before 1pm. All sections of the foodcourt were open all day & lines were minimal. Boat to DD starts @ 9 or 10am & departs every 60 minutes until 4pm, & then it's every 15. Buses were never too crowded - we used both the South & North depots.
MNSSHP was a blast! My DD & I were amazed by the elaborate costumes people wore - our favorite was a family of dalmatians - all ages & sizes - too cute! The parade is NOT to be missed - it was AWESOME! The perimeter fireworks & witch taking Tink's place were great too. We rode lots of rides, got lots of good candy, and only had to grab our parade spot about 25 minutes before it started (the first parade, not the later one).
We did Cindy's dinner @ 1900 PF (yuck!) & the breakfast there(yummy, as usual), rented water mouse boats, visited all parks but AK, and DD got bit by a poisonous spider@ the South depot, so we ended up at the emergency room immediately after we landed yesterday morning.
Happy to answer any questions.:D ;)

I know this may sound like a really silly question, but what does MNSSHP stand for? I see it often, but can never figure it out.

Thanks!

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party = MNSSHP (quite a mouthful, huh?).

There's also Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party = MVMCP

Glad you had a good trip. Is your daughter ok? What sort of spider was it -- brown recluse?

She's fine - her hand is still swollen, but no black ring. We think it was a brown recluse - very tiny - she didn't see it or feel it on her until it bit her. Thanks for asking about her!

We're heading down to POR and MNSSHP in a few weeks, and I'm actually pretty fully of questions, and since you offered....;)

As far as where to stay in POR, I really like the Mansion atmosphere (or atleast I think I will, we've never stayed ther) because it reminds me of Huck Finn, which is one of my all time favorite movies. I've been reading reports, however, that the Mansion rooms seem a little more...rundown, I suppose, than the AB rooms. Do you think this is true? I had heard that AB was recently refurbed, but I could be mistaken on that. What do you suggest? I don't know if I'd rather have a refurbed AB room or a bit older Mansion one.

And for the party....

My sister and I (26 and 23) are wondering if we want to dress up. If the majority of people are, or if we'll benefit more from dressing or it'll make it more special, we will....maybe. But if you don't think it makes a difference, we won't....maybe. What do you think?

And, lastly....merchandise at MNSSHP. I was considering buying a t-shirt or something from the party and just wearing that. Did you happen to notice what was available for the event and, if you did notice, roughly how much something would cost?

Thanks so much for your time!!

TWOOD,
Im glad you had a good time and enjoyed POR.
(I remember seeing some of your posts before you went)

I hope your daughter is OK.

First Mickey - thanks! It was a great trip!
Fantasmic 303: I think the room we stayed in had been refurbished - it looked brand new. It was Acadian House #8254 (2nd floor w/ river view). We've stayed @ POR 9 times & never been disappointed with our room's condition. Only 1 room showed wear & tear - AB 25 in Dec. 2002.
As for MNSSHP: lots of adults were dressed up & having a blast! There are purple tie-dyed MNSSHP tee shirts on sale. I'm thinking they are $19, but I'm not positive. There are other "Halloween themed" tees available. Hope ya'll have a great time!
:D
