Just returned Friday from a week at WDW and I was surprised at how bad some of the bus drivers were this trip. I have never had a truly bad experience with any of the bus drivers so I was really surprised. Busses ran pretty regularly so I had no complaints with that-although they did go to POFQ first every morning so some of them were quite full be the time the got to POR and we had to stand going to the parks.
My complaint is with a few of the bus drivers who seemed like it was their first day on the job. Our very first morning there we got on the bus going to MK. I noticed that the route we were going was different from the regular route to MK and then I noticed that our driver was turning down a road I dod not recognize. All of the sudden we came to a complete stop and I realized that we were in the MK parking lot were all of the cars park and we were in line beind a LONG line of cars that were being directed to parking spaces. Well after sitting in that parking lot for awhile the driver was able to get out of it and then made a series of twisting turns and eventually stopped and talked to two security CMs directing traffic for the triathalon that was going on. I heard the bus driver say something to one of the officers that they should be giving better direction to traffic on where to go. Basically the driver was trying to balme them for taking the wrong turn but later in the day when we went back to MK that driver took the correct route. Disney Bus routes were wide open and were not affected by the race but the driver was trying to blame his mistake on that. It took us 35 minutes to get to the correct stop at MK. The other bad experience happened when we were standing on a packed bus one afternoon going back to POR. During the day all POR were stopping at FQ first. Well this driver drove by the entrance to both POR and POFQ. She then announced, "Oops, I missed the turn" and proceeded to drive down to OKW to turn around. She then went through the entire resort of OKW to turn around (like she was lost) before we finally got out of there and into POFQ. It was almost like she was day dreaming because the entrances for POR and POFQ are marked as plain as day and any idiot could find them. I just noticed what looked to be like a serious lack of training regarding bus drivers and this is the first time in all of my trips to WDW that I have experienced this :earseek: :confused3 :earseek:

Yikes!
I hope they wake up the drivers in 11 days!
This is our first trip without renting a car... and I am a little nervous about all the extra time it will take to take the busses.
I hope I do not regret not renting a car!

In regards to the triathalon, it actually did effect some of the early morning routing. Most everything was back to normal by 10:30am, give or take. However, because of the changing closures, delays, and constant rerouting, there's always the chance of confusion as to which roads to take and when.

As for a driver missing the turn... yes, it's no fun, but it happens. We all miss our turn every so often. I've missed my turn when I was a bus driver a few times. I got in such a mind set after doing so many AKL runs, that when I was given an ASMo run, I took the Osceola exit by accident. It happens to the best of us. Not often at all, and I'm not excusing it... but it happens. In regards to the Old Key West... in order to turn around to get back to FQ, OKW would be the quickest and easiest way to turn around, even though the bus needs to go into the resort and around to turn around.

How was the food court?

We only ate breakfast there but the food court was great as always :flower: It is always very clean with plenty of seating and good food selections. I noticed there were alot of late night eaters in the food court when we would pass through it after cmonig back from the parks late at night.
