We had a great time, and really loved POR. It had a more deluxe feel to me than CBR did. The grounds are simply lovely, and we liked the decor of the room. We were in the AB section, because we needed the trundle bed.

We would recommend seeing Bob Jackson at the lounge one evening, it is a lot of fun. We planned to go back, but I wasn't feeling well the second night, so we skipped it.

The kids enjoyed both the main pool and the quiet pool.

A few negatives:

1. We didn't feel the bus transportation was as good as we had experienced at CBR. We eventually started driving to most places except Magic Kingdom. It took us an hour to get to Typhoon Lagoon by bus! :earseek: When we drove to TL, it was only about 8 minutes!

2. Minor negative. The food court at POR was nice, but we did go to the one at CBR one night, and it had a lot more choices.

Glad you had a good time!
Just a couple questions - what building did you stay in, and how far was it from the quiet pool, main pool, fodd court, etc? :)

Glad you had a great time. I was just reading up on POR. Can you give more details about how faar your room was from everything... :confused3 the pool, food court, busses... Thanks.

We stayed in building 27, second floor. I had requested building 18 or 27, because I wanted to be fairly near food court, and the center of the resort. It was a pretty decent location, probably 3 minutes to the food court, 5 min to the pool, and 7 or 8 minutes to the bus stop. There was a quiet pool 2 min away, but I didn't even notice it until we'd been there 3 days!

Hi there,
How was the mousekeeping? Also, was your bldg AB or mansions? We're going Aug. 20 :cool1:
Thanks!
Cheryl

We are staying at POR in July :cool1: and also have a room with a trundle bed. Are all the rooms with trundles in the same vicinity? I guess I was just wondering like the other posters how far from the food court and pool are the rooms with the trundles?

Hi, we just got back last night. We were in AB 27 as well. We thought the hotel was great! Our room was very clean. Mousekeeping was fabulous! They left towel animals and surprises for the kids every day. Even on the day they forgot to take their tip envelope. The walk to the food court or main pool was not bad. My one disappointment with POR was the food court. The food was so-so and the service was soooo slow. We ate only 1 breakfast and 1 dinner there. I did laundry once. It's $2 each for wash and dry. The grounds are beautiful. The great thing about it is that it's so spread out. You don't feel like you're at a massive hotel. We never even saw the people staying in the rooms around us. And finally, our expeience with the bus service was great. We never waited more than 15 minutes for a bus. Even after Wishes, we were at the far end of the line and we got on the 3rd bus. We will definately stay there again.

Glad you enjoyed your trip!

Do the POR rooms have a refrigerator? Also, is there a curtain between the bathroom area and bed area?

Thanks!!

I forgot to add that - yes our room had a fridge that easliy fit 2 containers of OJ in the door as well as bottles of water and 15 containers of yogurt! There is a privacy curtain and aslo a hairdryer.

Mousekeeping was great, and the room was in great shape. If you want to be close to the food court, main bus stop etc, I would call and request building 14, 15 or 18. They are usually pretty good about requests. The room has a small fridge, hair dryer and coffee maker.

We were at POR last week and my kids didnot like POR (girls ages 6 and 12). They did not like the decor at AB; we all felt the dining choices were very limited (nothing we liked at food court and we thought boatwrights was awful); I liked the landscaping, but the kids could not care less.

Both of them begged to stay at AKL again next time and both said they liked POP better as well.

I have read that Nescafe coffee was in the rooms, is this still true or have they upgraded to a better coffee? Thanks

Sorry, I didn't notice what type of coffee it was, I'm not a coffee drinker.

There is hamburgers, fries, chicken nuggets, pizza, and pasta at the food court, so I can't imagine kids not finding food they like, but I will admit we were sick of it after eating there for a few days.

We also stayed at POR last week. We contacted them 3 times requesting a room in Bldg 14 because my husband recently tore a ligament in his knee requiring surgery, and he needed to limit his walking as much as possible. My DH even spoke w/ the room controller. When we checked-in it was not even marked on the reservation. The closest they could give us was Patterre Place. I know they cannot guarantee rooms, but the fact that after 3 calls it was still not even noted (therefore, not even considered) was a bit disheartening, since the request was for medical reasons. They did offer to move us when a room became available (after 2 days), but we decided to stay where we were.

Mousekeeping definitely could make some improvements. When we got to the room, there were potato chip crumbs all over the nightstand and floor. We turned down the bed and a crumb came flying out. At that point we weren't sure if the sheets had been changed or not. The bathtub also had not been cleaned well. We had gotten in late so we waited until morning to bring this to their attention. I had thought the tub was just stained, but after we complained and they cleaned it, the "stain" was gone. Yuck! Once they cleaned it, it was maintained. (My approach to hotel rooms is "Just don't look around too much!" I bent down in the sink area one day and the base of the sinks definitely needed a good cleaning! DH on the other hand examines everything. I told him not to tell me anything he found - and he did find things!) Did keep the family off those bedspreads, though!

There wasn't any coffee in our room the whole time. DH went to the food court to get his. (I don't drink it.) I'm sure if we had asked, they would have given us some.

There isn't much of a food selection after 10 p.m. Even though the food court stays open until midnight, most of the stations close. You can only order from the pizza/pasta station, bakery or pick up items in the refrigerator area.
