We stayed 06/01-06/08. We all loved the resort and setting.
We checked in early at 1000am and one room was ready but the other one was not (my in-laws were with us). We got adjoining rooms in the AB area and had a choice of spots except for buildings 14 and 15. I had requested these with our reserveration but they were completly booked. I decided to pick building 38 thinking it was between the lobby/pool area and the parking lot. We had a rental car and would be driving some.

The building was easy to find but it was not really that close to the parking lot and the lobby. The resort is just big and spread out that it seems like it is a walk from any building. We all put our luggage in one room and off we went. Our room was very clean and there were no problems.

The resort is the nicest in the early am. It is very quiet and the water is just beautiful. We really liked it here and had a nice time, but it is a little to much walking for me. I am more of a wilderness lodge person but this place was nice.

Mousekeeping did not leave any animals but she did leave the girls a fun towel basket that had fun stickers on it and she placed all our toothbrushes and toothpastes in there. It was really cute, but that was it. I did tip one dollar per person everyday. Those ladies have alot to do.

Just a side note. I stopped to speak with one of the gardners to tell him I thought that the resort looked fantastic. There is alot of greenry to take of! Anyways, he told me that when he started (3yrs ago) there were 8 gardners for both POR and POFQ then they were cut to 4, then 2, and just recently they were bumped back up to 4 gardners. :earseek: :earseek:

I guess disney cuts where they think they can to save money and I think that may be why there were mousekeeping problems.

Well, let me know if you have any questions.

I'm happy to hear you enjoyed Alligator Bayou- we are plannig to stay there Oct 1-7 and I am very curious about what buliding to request. I keep hearing a lot about 14 & 15 but not much else. I definitely want to be near the pool and a bus stop. Any recommendations?

I loved hearing your report. It seems like I've been hearing a lot of bad things about POR lately. We will be there 7/4 to 7/11! I can't wait! We requested building 18. :)

wannabe- I cannot remember which building is closest to the small pool and laundry room, my husband thinks it is 35 but I am not sure. I think that if you have your own car, look at a POR map and get a building near the small pool and laundry. Your walk will be much shorter. Plus there is a bus stop close also.

I stayed in building 27 last February and loved it. I don't think there is a bad location anywhere. Although we did have to walk to the bus stop and Boatright's, it was enjoyable. The bonus about where we were was it was right in the middle of 2 bus stops - so we could pick which way we wanted to walk...
...and it was quiet there because everyone wants to be close to the main building... we could sleep in, we had no neighbours on either side (!) and didn't worry about disturbing anyone when we returned from Pleasure Island one night!

Will be there in 4 days (and counting) for 2 weeks. I'm so excited, there is real danger of me being sick. I'll let you know how it goes, but most of the reports I've seen have been positive from TripAdvisor.

As long as the rooms are reasonably comfortable, I don't care - I'm looking forward to the grounds the most.

Uh oh, got to dash - got that queasy feeling again...

We were there in May in AB 1832. Great location!! Adjacent to the quiet pool and close to the lobby too.

Glad to hear about your trip! We'll be there next Friday. I'm really looking forward to seeing it all in person!!

My DH and I stayed at POR for our anniversary last year. We requested Alligator Bayou but not a specific building. We ended up with the second floor of building 38 and it was gorgeous! We were facing the river and about a five minute walk to the lobby and restaurants and of course the main pool. There is also a quieter pool around the corner in the other direction. The bus stops were not far either. We loved it there and I hope this helps you. :)
