Just back from POP - I'm now officially a POP snob!

Yes, you can used the refillable mugs for the frozen Coke and blue raspberry...no pina colada though ):

In all the times I've stayed there, I never noticed any large gatherings of kids. Don't know if it was just timing, though. I mainly notice lots of young families. There were always little ones playing in the fountains or playing twister with their family. I don't know if they always do this, but when we were there last time, they turned off the Goofy fountains and set up a big screen in the evenings to show Disney movies.

WOW!! I think you all have us convinced to switch for our next trip!! Two quick questions.....1) Are the Coke icee's with the refillable mugs? ( if so can we get a pina colada one?) and 2) do the high school groups tend to stay at the POP as much as at the All stars?

The only icee's were coke and blue raspberry. I believe that they book the school groups at All Stars, but there was one group that looked like a youth group getting off a tour bus in front of Pop (they had just gotten back from Universal Studios), but I didn't really notice them after that. It seemed like a family place and that was the only 'group' I noticed there.

Thanks for your quick responses I do think we will try it next!! Just to clarify I like kids just sometimes the large groups can be overwhelming. Now Shhhh...don't tell anyone else:thumbsup2 And what if we collect signatures for the Pina colada icees? ;) Thanks again!

If any of you have extra room for me, I'll go back with you in a heartbeat!! :rotfl2:

You can come with me. I am looking to going by myself in the next few weeks if I can swing it. I am nervous :scared: about doing WDW solo. lol Even though I'm 39.

Are the CM's still doing the twist in the morning at the food court? That was so cute! Anyone remember what time it is they do it?

I don't know about the CM's doing the Twist in the morning but I do know that the CM's do The Hustle at 6 pm every night. It is so cute and they will invite you to join in with them.

They also show Disney movies and cartoons in the food court in the back closest to the back door/pool area. This was a great place to relax in the afternoon while eating our last 11 snacks :rotfl2: and waiting for our Magical Express pick up. Kept the kids entertained!

I LOVE POP :hippie:
WE ARE STAYING AT ALL STARS SPORTS THIS YEAR AND I AM HOPING THAT WE LIKE IT AS MUCH AS POP.....

Just edited my signature with a new line - take a look!

We're still in the planning stages for our first Disney trip (anxiously awaiting the 2008 rates...). Reports like this one are making lean very heavily towards staying at POP. I was originally considering a moderate, but after reading such great reviews and doing a bit more research -- it looks like POP would be perfect for us!!

If you're planning on using Disney transportation, Pop beats all the moderates - hand down!

Welcome to the Dis! Let us know if you have any questions about POP! We're happy to help! :hippie:

Thanks for the welcome! I've read through this thread, and am working my way through the Pop pictures thread and the Pop FAQ thread. I am most definitely being won over. Not to mention the fact that we could get two connecting rooms for way less than similar set-ups at the moderates...

YAY! Thanks for the pep talk. We will be there for Thanksgiving. (First time in 9 years!) We picked it for the same reasons. Now I REALLY can't wait!
:cheer2:

I also love Pop! We just got back on July 29th and this was my 2nd stay at this resort. We stayed 17 nights and had a great stay. We didn't hear any loud noises and were in the 50's building facing the pool, on the first floor (standard view). I was just steps away from the laundry room, which really helped when I did laundry.

They do still do the twist in the food court because I saw it twice. I saw the Hustle too. I also noticed the ping pong, chalk drawing, water balloon toss, and hula hoops, but never had the chance to see the bowling.

My DS loves the arcade there and swam nearly every day. He had as great a time as I did.

The bus service was outstanding! We rarely waited longer than 5-10 minutes for a bus and did not have to stand often, but we left the parks before the big exodus from the firework shows at the parks.

 WOOT!!

Just booked a 4 night just DH and I stay at POP for April 2008!!! :yay: :yay:

Can't wait to go back! :hippie:

There was a chalk board by the Goofy splash/play area and I remember that the Big Wheel races in the 70s area was around 10:00 am (we were never around for those), and then around 2:00 was a water balloon toss by the main pool, and at 3:00 was bowling by the 50s pool. There were other things, but I don't remember.

When we checked in (Wed. at 11:30 am) they had towel animal demonstrations in the lobby outside of the Pop store.

We did not get a schedule of activities, we just saw them listed on the board by the Goofy area.

I am a POP snob too. I posted earlier in the thread. I do have some questions. We have been there twice and I have never seen any of these things. The first times POP was brand new, the second was in September. Anybody else do these activities in "off season"?

Just booked our connecting rooms for our next stay in January! Can't wait!

:cool1:  YIPPEEE!!! :cool1: Just booked our trip to POP in May 2008!! We'll be there for ten days -- our first trip to Disney. Already can't wait!!!
