My husband, myself and our daughter (3) were at Pop Century 12/2-12/5. We were in the 80's building with the Rubick's cubes. As far as the resort goes, I don't think that we will stay there again. Although I had heard that the toilets were loud, I still was not prepared for them. My goodness! It's not that the resort was bad, we were just a little disappointed with a few things. We were on the third floor and we could hear the footsteps of the people upstairs, the toilets are super loud and we weren't impressed with the choices in the food court. We have stayed at all of the All-Stars and POFQ, so we thought it would be similar to the All-Stars, but I think the All-Stars are better. We had family staying at ASM so we sample their foodcourt as well and they had many more choices. We did not use the buses as we had our own car, so I can't comment on that. Anyway, like I said, it's not that the resort is bad, we just preferred the All-Stars. So, we will go back there next time or try another moderate.

Welcome Home! thanks for the review I was torn between ASM & POP!

Be staying there again next Sat. :D Next time, if you try a value resort, ask for the Top Floor, and an END room, you don't hear the toilets flusing too much, and you only have one side to deal with. :D

Will be there next Thursday. I'm sorry you ddn't enjoy as much. We have stayed at ASMusic will have to compare the two on this visit. I sleep with a fan at night so I am hoping it will act as a "noise filter ".

We were in an end room all the way in the back, but it was still kind of noisy because of people walking to their rooms. Like I said, it's not that this is a bad resort, it just wasn't what I expected. We still had a great trip!

Your two complaints were the same as mine. Plumbing and Food Court. It was the most mediocre, nothing to rave about food I ever had. The best was breakfast. I can honestly say that my grade and high school cafeteria food was better.

I will speak about the desserts briefly: the LUNAR cheesecake was very good, but the Tye Dye was terrible as was the Worms in Dirt. How do you screw up Worms in Dirt?

I stayed there in Jan and one night in OCT. I did NOT eat there in Oct. I didn't pay for the night in OCT. If we stay again, likely NOT, we won't eat anything there.

I'm at POP right now, in the 70's building in a room on the third floor. We haven't heard a sound since we checked in yesterday afternoon. Yes, the toilets are loud, but the noisy flush is because it's a vacuum powered system, and not powered by water pressure alone. Water pressure is my only complaint here. The water in the shower runs so slowly!

I also found the food court to be just fine. It isn't gourmet food, but it isn't supposed to be. We had lunch there yesterday, and breakfast there this morning, and everything was very good. Dinner last night was at Kona Cafe, and that was good, too.

There are lots of cheerleaders here right now, but they seem to be very well-behaved.

We were on the 4th floor in the 70's last month. Our room was pretty quiet also, so you may be on to something there.

Just back tonight..second floor facing the lake in the 70's. Boy did we enjoyed the two nights of private fireworks that went off in MGM! Full view. No noise, except for an occasional toilet..just like I have heard in all three All Stars and POR. Nothing unexpected. I'm sure it depends on if you get a noisy family overhead. I did feel sorry for the families around the two rooms that each had about 10 staying in them. They sure had a lot of sleeping bags when they checked out yesterday LOL! Food was fine, just what I always expect at a value..some better than other, but all was good that we ate. Love that we no longer have to sign credit cards under $25..sure does speed up the line at the food court.
My sis's first trip to Disney, and we all enjoyed Pop.

We also just returned from Pop Century and didn't find the plumbing that loud. We were on the 3rd floor in the 50's bldg. and we were not bothered by any outside noise. We thought it was a great value for the money. :D

I didn't think the food in the food court was bad, I was just disappointed with the lack of choices. You get tired of hamburgers, hotdogs and chicken fingers all the time. There were more choices at ASMu when we ate there 12/4 with family staying there.

Are you *sure* you looked at everything? What about the fried chicken? The lo mein? The philly cheese steaks? The bagel chips and hummus dip? The meatloaf?? The parmesan chicken? Meatball sub? :teeth:

Please please tell me it's not that bad! We're going 1-5-04 and it's our first time at POP, stayed at ASM before with no problems. Wondering if I should get one of those travel "white noise' machines?

I was just there for one night in a first floor room. With the bathroom door closed I never heard anyone elses toliet. Mine was loud.

I did think the food court was nice and I like the seating area better then the All Stars. I wish the gift shop sold some snacks so you didn't have to go into the food court area,but...

We spent 4 nights in November at PC. We were in the 70's building, third floor, pool view. It's not that I didn't like the resort, I just will probably go back to the Allstars instead. The food court was ok, but never did find the "mom's night out" specials. The Red Velvet cake was the best I have had in years. We had a screaming yelling bratty kid our first night there that screamed from 6:00 am until they finally left the room in the a.m. Had to actually bang on the door between rooms around 7:00 and had to get up even after coming in late the evening before (Grrrhhh). Couldn't take it anymore. Guess they checked out that night because then they were gone. (probably a lot of people complained). (Then we saw a family in the food court with what I believe was that kid and finally the mom said "just shut up shut up right now"....she had had enough). The next night we had a crying baby. Never experienced that at the Allstars. I realize they are value resorts and you have to expect a lot of kids so I am very tolerant. The layout is good, the gift shop is loaded with great stuff, the icons, pictures and stuff from the 50's to the 90's were nostalgic, the pools are really cute and it's a good family resort. We wanted to try the new hotel on property and did. Just probably won't be back. The bus service was pretty slow. Always seemed no matter what bus we were waiting for each day, our bus was never there for at least 15 min. Still that doesn't bother me as long as I get a seat. They play really great music in the bus area too. So it's hard to put my finger on just what it was and can't. I just prefer the Allstars and if doing a value resort, will go back to them.

I do the same Cyndi. I am so addicted to the "white noise" of the fan, that if we ever decide to fly down and I can't take my fan, I'm going to have to get one of those small noise machines. I don't think I can sleep without that Hummmm!!

Sidenote: My friend went with me to a womans conf. once, and she said she never gets a good nights sleep. She hears her kids if they get up to use the bathroom or she hears noises outside, etc. I had my fan going all night and I had to wake her up the next morning by nudging her. She was in such a sound sleep. She said she never woke up in the night and didn't hear anything the whole night. I think a lot of people would sleep better at WDW if they had some "white noise". Just a thought.

Sorry everything didn't meet with your expectations. We've never stayed at POP, but we have stayed at ASMovies. We loved it. Just a little too small now for our needs.

I hated the lunar cheesecake and loved the tie dye and the dirt cup LOL. The lunar one we had must have had stale marshmallows on it or something, it was just really gross.

I had the Vegetable Lasgne the last time I was there, and it was GREAT!

So funny. I thought ASSports was worse then POP. I was at pop from 11-28 through the 2nd then at Sports 12/2- 7. I was in the 50s - 2nd floor towards the parking lot/lake and it was quiet. I didn't hear a toilet but heard them like no tomorrow at sports. It wasn't horrible but when you hear it non-stop. . .

I liked that the salads had the tye-died croutons and the gift shop was nice and food court big and the unlimited icee drinks were cool. The TV was bigger and the room was a bit nicer - of course it is newer. And we had a view of "the big ball" and could even see Illuminations from our room, not very well but you could see it!

It probably didn't help that Pop warner was there at sports when I was, the food court was constantly packed. I have learned that no matter who or what is there I would NEVER pay extra for a preferred room with all the noise and busy-ness. Its not that far to the bus stops and food court anyway.

The bussing was great at Pop as that is the only resort and they were coming and going quickly. At sports we waited quite a bit more, not terrible by any means but it was much more crowded. The theme-ing was much more fun at Sports though I thought, maybe because I am the only girl in my house so I know my boys and hubby liked it.

I am glad I tried them but won't do value again unless it means I can't go to Disney.

I guess its like you get what you pay for. They are not bad at all, but you can definately tell you are in a value resort.
