Just back from POP, any questions?

We stayed at POP from 6/19 to 6/28. Also stayed first nite at Hyatt MCO. Basically liked POP, except for maybe that it was pretty busy. Busses ran good, food court was okay (prices are high), rooms okay. Still too tired for trip report, but any questions, just ask!

We never waited very long for busses and I would have remembered because it was hottttt! Park & downtown Disney busses always ontime. We didn't have early character meals so regularly scheduled busses were fine for those. We did see a few early buses running as "special" and I assumed those were for char meals. At Epcot closing one nite, we stayed a little late. Our bus went to POP and CR, probably not enough folks left to run 2 separate busses. We stopped at POP first anyway.

How deep are the pools at PC?

Thanks.:earsboy:

Believe it or not, we never made it actually into a pool. But we did talk about this and we thought they were about 3-4 ft. In other words, no one was diving. One note about pools.....one evening we noticed 4 lifeguards at the main pool. Maybe that's the requirement, I don't know......but they were really doing a good job watching everyone. Two were in their guard chairs and two were patrolling from poolside. All were holding life preserver thingies (for obviously lack of proper word.....) The pool was very busy, it was around 4 or 5 pm. They weren't taking their eyes off of their duty.

Tamickey,

Thanks for the info!

;)

Glad you had a good trip!

How was the air conditioning in your room..we are staying in Sept and that is my biggest concern that it will be too hot in the rooms?

Thanks for any info!

We just got back from POP Century and boy was it hot! The air conditioning worked just fine. I am a hot mama :hyper: so I kept it at 68 and the room was very comfy. :earsgirl:

Have you ever stayed at any of the other resorts? We have stayed at POR YC and AKL. We have never stayed at a value. It will be my husband myself and my two kids. They are 18 and 15. We usually stay in one room but lately that is getting very hard to do. This next trip is a budget trip and I am trying to decide if we should get one room at POR or two at POP. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The rooms at POR are small too for 4 people. With your kids being 15 and 18 they may like their own room at POP. We just came back from there, and my 15 yr old DS loved it. The pools were great and they play some pretty cool music in the eating area and at the pool. Also if they are into video games like my son, the arcade can't be beat. :earsboy:

Air conditioning was interesting for us as we don't like it too cool. There didn't seem to be a way to turn off the fan, which I understood since it is Florida. After maid service I noticed that it was always turned down cooler. Shouldn't be a problem keeping the room at 68 all the time if you like.

We have stayed at ASMo, WL, CB & POR. That's a pretty good variety and I still like the values. Of course I would prefer to stay deluxe, who wouldn't? But it's still Disney theming with the onsite perks. I will note that in the future I may use time of year to help with resort selection. Meaning that summer is a very busy time and the values just seem busier due to food court and resort layout. I was going to split between POP and BWI, but decided to just save the $$ and not transfer. Some trips are too busy to enjoy the hotel (another story........)

The music was fun, we enjoyed it a lot. And you have to catch the staff (and a few guests) doing the Twist in the food court in the morning, very cute.

Kelly you didn't say how long you'd be staying, but I agree with Alice. With kids that old (like mine) I would choose 2 rooms at POP if that's an option if I were staying more than 4 nites. The rooms are fine, but that's like having 4 adults. By the way, the TV is 27" which they'll like and you wouldn't have to fight over what to watch if you have 2 rooms. You can also listen to the radio Disney channel on it which we like to do while getting ready.

Might sound like a stupid question, but... here goes

Is this POP Century themed for the 1900s? I am assuming it is, been doing research and that is what I gathered from it, and if so, are the rooms all themed differently?

The sections that are open now are I think classic years - 50, 60, 70, 80, 90's. Not sure if there is a 2000 bldg. The legendary years (unless I have them reversed) will be 1900, 10, 20, 30 & 40's whenever they decide to finish them. They are partially built and can be seen from the lakeside rooms. We had a room that faced the lake & at first my daughter said it was creepy that the buildings were empty. But we got used to them and at nite you don't see them because of the darkness anyway.
I didn't get to see any room but ours, so I'm not sure about the decoration. I think the bedspreads covered (no pun intended) all classic years. We were in the 60's bldg 4 facing the lake. Originally I had book preferred, just to avoid a parking lot view. But I had been wondering about the lakeside and it turned out great. Poolside is pretty noisy.
