We loved it!! Me and our 2 DS's tagged along with DH on a business trip at the last minute. We usually stay at a mod or a deluxe because normally we are a family of 5 , but since DD didn't come with us on this trip it was just the 4 of us. We thought the room was large enough for all of us and what a fun atmosphere.:yay: We also had to stay at ASsp one night as well and that room was also good. Both rooms were clean, no issues with housekeeping at all. We ate at the food court several times and everything was good. I had to try the tye dye cheesecake:rolleyes1 I have to say I think the arcade was one of the best on property. It was a terrific deal, the kids loved it. (we've stayed at the CR and I know it is larger, but they really enjoyed this arcade). I would definitely stay there again.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. We love Pop! The arcade is definitely one of our favorites!

This is good to hear as we are looking at a trip down to Disney for a Taekwondo tournament in October and they have a deal going with AS Sports for those who are attending and competing. I've never stayed at a value resort but a deal is a deal! My only concern is no fridge. Does anyone know how much it costs to rent one?

We're staying at POP in December. We usually do moderate, but wanted to keep it cheaper this time. Glad to hear someone who hasn't stayed in a value before liked it. I'm really excited to try it because it does look really fun! Plus I know my five year old is going to LOVE it!!

I'm thinking it is $10 a day, unless they have increased the price. (Which is likely) Why don't you go and see if your dates are available for a fridge swap on the budget board!

Sorry it took so long to respond, I've been catching up on all the post trip laundry! :laundy: We were in the 50's section, the building with the giant juke box. Our room over looked the pool, and we could also see the small lake. It was a pretty good spot, but as others have said, I didn't really see any buildings that I thought were a bad location. The resort is well laid out. hth

Glad to hear your positive review of POP - we're staying there for the 1st time in Sept. How was the bus service at POP?

The bus service was so-so. I think overall this time of year they need to run more buses period. Actually if was fine as long as it wasn't a really busy time of day- like at park closing, after fireworks, etc. In sept I don't think you'll have much of an issue. We stayed late a couple of nights but quickly learned to avoid certain times or we'd be waiting at the bus stop a looong time.

I just want to say that I think the '50s building is one of the best to stay in. The first time we stayed at POP, we were in the '50s in a room on the back that looked over the small lake and it was so quiet and peaceful. We've stayed at POP 3 times and I would again. I think that for a value resort, it's amazing. :thumbsup2

We just got back from a 10 night stay at POP a little over a week ago. First time staying there, and I was pleased with our room and housekeeping. Liked the arcade and though I had thought that we would not be eating at the food court very often, we ended up eating there at least a couple of nights - very convenient.

Bus service was ok - some days/times extremely crowded, but after a couple days you can pretty much figure out the busy times. I really did like that the buses did not have to stop at any other resorts.

We did have one small issue - we did a MK evening EMH because the next day was an "off" day. We didn't get back to the hotel and to sleep until after 3:00 a.m. The next morning around 9:00 we were awakened by the sound of very loud pounding and drilling in what sounded like room next door. The pounding/drilling continued off and on while moving around us (sometimes it sounded like it was next door, then upstairs, then further away, etc.). We finally just got up at 10:30, not because we were ready to get up, but the noise made it impossible to sleep.

I called down to the front desk to ask if there was any scheduled work in the rooms around us for any of the mornings for the next 8 days. I figured that if there was going to be any more work scheduled, I potentially might have to alter our schedule (eliminating any more evening EMHs). The lady at the front desk told me that there was no scheduled work going on and what I had been hearing should be over in the next 10 minutes. I told her that it had been going on for over 1.5 hours. She then told me that if guests damage a room, they need to make the repairs and there was no way to anticipate these things. Ok, that was fine, but I didn't really care for her tone of voice - like I needed to have something really simple explained to me because I was slow.

After we got up and as we were walking to the bus stop, I see several moving van type vehicles, full of mattresses. There were several workers carting a bunch of mattresses into the building. There was a man with a clipboard directing how many mattresses went in which direction. So obviously this had to be scheduled work - I doubt that just by coincidence that many guests damaged their room enough so that all those mattresses needed replacing that day.

My issue wasn't that they were replacing the mattresses and that we were awakened by the pounding/drilling noise. I just didn't like the way my call down to the front desk was handled - obviously the work was scheduled and not some random repair. I also didn't like the quasi-exasperated tone of voice the person at the front desk used, especially when I was calling just to ask a question, not complain. We ended up changing our schedule for the rest of the week, because we didn't want to chance sleeping in again.

I realize this was probably a random occurrence (the mattress replacement) and a random experience with the front desk lady, so I would probably stay at POP again.

chepar, sad to say, your call did not reach the front desk. It is a call center for all the resorts and the call does not get to a CM at the resort until a guest needs to speak with a manager.

Although she should have known what was going on, she didn't and her rude manner was not acceptable.

The resorts need to go back to having someone available at the resort to take guests calls - I know some will say too many guests call, but it can be and should be done.

How nice everyone had a great stay anyway! Thanks!

Goofycampers - sounds terrific! Thanks!

Wow, I didn't know this. That actually sounds pretty funny to me - you dial the digits on the phone for "front desk" and you don't get the actual front desk.

I didn't ask to speak to a manager because I actually did not become that irritated until I saw the trucks full of mattresses outside and realized that besides talking to me like I was an idiot, she had wrong information, too.

I know, it's hard to believe...and after 27 yrs of Disneys stays I learned this from a CM friend who became one of the call center operators! I forget when it changed, but think less than 10 yrs ago.

If we have a particular resort question, we now make the time to stop at guest services at the resort...although even that is not a sure thing for correct info :confused3

We arrive at Pop Century on the 7th of July and I'll let y'all know all about it when we get home.

We arrive at POP in 6 days (july 7-21) I cant wait :cool1:
This is the first time we paid for a preferred room, I think maybe I should call ahead in a few days to make sure they have us listed for preferred.
Should I do this? Does anyone know who has stayed in a preferred room?
