Just back from Poly...

I only wish I had read such information before we stayed at the Poly, I'd have chosen differently. I don't see anything wrong with people who have stayed at the Poly sharing their experiences, even the bad.

I stayed at the Poly last year and had nothing but GREAT things to say! Our room was clean everyday, the mousekeeping was nice.

I didnt meet any "rude" or "mean" cast member's while at the Poly.

I am sorry so many people had bad experiences.

If something happens you don't like or agree with id let someone know while i was there and id also write a letter to customer relations when i returned home.

Its important it be in writing. That way they SEE what is wrong. Managers might not be letter them know what guest are saying they just "deal" with it and dont tell the higher ups.

now this might not be the case i dont know but ill still write about it.

We are DVC members now and only stay at DVC resorts, but we did stay at the Poly years ago, and we always visit when we are on property. I have to have dole whip often! It just feels like home to walk around the resort and remember good times at Kona Cafe, O'Hanas and the Luau. I'm glad we had our chance to stay there. That said, the moderates do make you feel like you are getting more for you money. I think that since the location is so great, they can get away with less service and upkeep, because it is so great to be so close to the MK!

Completely agree about the condition of the Poly! We stayed there for our first anniversary in September 2008 (split stay with the Beach Club) AND stayed club level in Hawaii. We had so many issues with the room and property that we couldn't believe it. The only saving grace was that we were checking out and checking into the Beach Club for the second leg of our trip. The Poly was more expensive and definitely disappointing!

We won't be staying there again until major improvements have been undertaken. We love our Beach Club!

Still always have a fabulous time at Disney, no matter what!

I had a feeling my post may have caused some disagreements. It wasn't my intention. I was just giving my OPINION and sharing my experiences. Isn't that why we come here? To read reviews of places we are thinking about and to get tips from those who have been before? I know that's why I came last summer when we first booked the Poly. Yes, I read the reviews and I knew the chance I was taking and we decided to go ahead anyway. It was my dream resort and the one place I thought would "make our trip memorable!" It CERTAINLY did that. LOL

My point is, I didn't have a great experience and I've said time and again the biggest problem was the disappointment. My review was aimed at those like me who have never been and who have this dream in your head of what it will be like, just be realistic and you'll be ok. There are hundreds of less than complimentary views of the state of the rooms, read them and ask yourself if you can live with that. I didn't do that, just went in thinking "it isn't going to happen to me" and it did. BUT, there are a lot of positives about the Poly and I'm not overlooking them. So call me negative, call me a naysayer. But you can also call me honest. ;) Live and learn, right?

fwiw...I thought all your posts were honest and balanced. I've read a lot about the Poly and I feel - thanks to folks like you and many others - that I have an accurate read on the place. That's awesome and what the DIS is for. Now I still don't know what to do but that's a different matter.....:lmao:

Thanks...wish I could help you on deciding what to do! I still don't know myself LOL Good luck!

On a recent stay there my husband and I came back to our room late at night to find pizza delivery menus shoved under all the doors going all the way down the hallway in Tokelau. This really disturbed me more than the bad service, musty smell and other issues. What kind of security is there when strangers can roam freely around the hallways dropping delivery menus ?? :sad2:

I've gotten these at different resorts as well so I don't think its a Poly problem.

What kind of security would fix that? Anyone can come into the parking lot to visit the resort, anyone can walk around the grounds and anyone can enter the buildings with the exception of the club level building. One person, walking around, with a bunch of flyers stuck in a bag or something - not like that's going to draw much attention. There are not usually security guards roaming all the hallways of any Disney resort.

By the way - that's a problem at all the resorts, to the point that they have posted and stated warnings about it in the past- some of the pizza flyer places are scams to steal credit card #s.

Please everyone dont believe all these negative posts about the Poly. They are NOT true. We have stayed there numerous times, the last one a month ago.Room was big, clean and comfortable and i'am extremely hard to please.Oh and i had no problems with the cast members either.

We will be there Dec 10-16 in a MK view room. First time at Poly and can't wait. Any particular building to request?

I'm quite certain you didn't mean to call me a liar concerning my comments about The Poly.

Everything I wrote about in post #64 is what I have seen with my own eyes.

Please don't insinuate that I'm a liar. Good if you had a wonderful experience, we did not. The DIS boards are here to share both good and bad things about the resorts, parks, restaurants, etc.
One day you might have a not so good occurrence that you want to share. I don't think that you will want to be called a liar by someone who didn't share that experience.

Do you think that we sit around and try to come up with bad things to share? I have lots of good things to say about CSR, Dolphin, Swan, BC, BW, CR, and GF. Unfortunately, those good things did not hold true for the Poly.

Yup! We have stayed in Tahiti the past 3 times. The rooms in this building are somewhat larger than the other longhouses and have double sinks which is always a plus. It is a little further away from GCH but only slight. The grounds are so beautiful that you will enjoy the walk. We had a garden view and was just gorgeous. The good thing about Tahiti longhouse is there are no views that are bad.No parking lot views no matter what room or side of it you get. That would be my request if i were you and more so than not your request is granted. I know you will enjoy your stay at the Poly. :)

You're absolutely right! SHAME on all these liars!

I bet they even crawled into my bathroom at the Poly week before last and PLANTED black mold in the grout in the bathroom! We should organize a stakeout.

They're just trying to sully the name of Wald Disney World and bring down the corporation.

I bet they're working for Universal.

We won't let them hurts our precious.

Who are people going to believe Rie'smom and Joshua who have, from what I can see, been here forever or TwinkleTroll, who just joined in December.

I'd prefer to find out for myself (despite my low number of posts).

Come on guys. No one is calling anyone a liar. In fact, twinkle didn't call anyone out by name. I'm sure all she (he?) meant was that not everyone has a bad experience at the Poly.
