Just back from POFQ

GiGi, just got back from POR, which was equally wonderful. That said, I'd go with the Dolphin. Hands down, it's my favorite. We loved AKL, too. But since I'm too cheap to spend more than $100/night on a room (except on a rare AKL excursion), POR was perfect. We're thinking of POFQ next trip, but a Hotwire rate on the Dolphin would trump everything!

I am thrilled to see the great things about POFQ - we will be having our first stay there next week!! I am curious, though...did these rooms have the refrigerators in them, yet? We are bringing a lot of our own drinks and I wouls love to be able to stick them in the frig!

thanks clutter! i'm just so conflicted... every resort has *something* going for it, and narrowing down our top *somethings* is no easy task! LOL! is the dolphin pool as awesome as i've read? we're only considering akl if we can get a decent rate 'cause ds is desperate to stay there and will go to the wdw website just to look at the pictures over and over and over again! LOL?

I am thinking about splitting our stay between POFQ and AKL (4 nights at each) just so I can experience them both.. Not sure how smart that is because we won't have a car so how would we move our luggage????

If you don't have a fridge in your room when you check in, call Guest Services and they will send you one at no charge.

doodlebug... although we've never done it, i have read here that disney moves your luggage for you! all you do is pack up, let them know when you check out of resort #1, enjoy your day and your luggage will be waiting when you check in to resort #2! of course, this does not apply to swan/dolphin...

We are checking in in 21 days for our first trip to WDW and WE CAN'T WAIT!!! :Pinkbounc Threads like these get me more excited and sure that we made the right decision to book the POFQ. We did decide to split our stay and stay at POFQ 5 nights, WL 3 nights because of the codes. I hope we won't regret switching because POFQ sounds so wonderful!

Sounds like a great combo to me. Be sure to visit POR since its POFQ's "sister resort". You can use their pool if its warm enough, they have a nice playground (if you have kids) and theres a good entertainer in the POR bar (forget his name, heard he's good, he was on vacation during our vacation so we missed him). We were only at POFQ 3 nights but my son was hooked on beignets so we've "visited" when staying elsewhere. We're lucky enough to be able to drive so brought the kids little bikes for riding along the water from POFQ to POR and they also enjoyed tossing the football in the courtyard. Have a great time!

oh that's nice to hear... I hope my hubby goes for that because I would love to experience both resorts since we won't be back for awhile most likely

Yes, the rooms all have a frig now!! Super convenient!!!

Thank you to everyone who posted on this post!! :cheer2:

I cut and pasted this post into an e-mail yesterday and sent it to DH. He called me and told me to go ahead and book our October trip! This will be our first time staying in a Moderate for the duration of our trip...we usually stay at the Gaylord Palms using a Priceline rate of about $85. But when I ran the numbers ($7 for the GP's stupid SELF-parking and $10 resort fee for bottled water and juice, plus an extra $8 [??] for parking at the Park each day) we could stay on property for just a extra $160 or so.

SO YOU GUYS MADE ALLLLLL THE DIFFERENCE!!!!!!

I can't thank you enough for encouraging DH to do what we all know is right!! :rotfl:

YAY!!!! I'm sooooo happy for you.....and October is such a great time to be in WDW :) We loved POFQ so much we're already talking about going back for a long weekend in June or July....just keeping my fingers crossed for an AP rate!!! Have a wonderful trip!!!

I am leaving in a couple of hours for POFQ and can't wait to see it for myself.

Thanks for all the information.

We all love FQ, it is so laid back & relaxing. We will be staying July 2005 and can't wait. Our kids love the pool with the serpent slide. We love to relax at the poolside lounge. Can't wait until July

We just came back from a weekend trip to POFQ. WOW what a great Resort. It is nice and small and my DD loved the pool slide. Too cold for me this weekend but not for her.

We were in Building 5 first floor and walked out our door to the pool.

We took the boat to DTD for Dinner one night which was very nice.
