Well, I have officially become a POFQ convert. It's now my favorite moderate resort!

We checked in on Friday night at 2:15am!! Very late flight, AND it was delayed 90 minutes, plus we had to drive to WDW from Tampa. We were so tired. I was scared that we would get a horrible room since we were arriving so late, so we did fax the room assignor and asked them nicely if they could block a room for us that met some of our requests (non-smoking, upper floor, corner room, courtyard view). I must send the POFQ assignor a nice thank you letter now 'cause it turned out that they did save us a good room that night even though the resort was at almost 100% occupancy.

We had a 3rd floor corner room w/ 2 windows facing the parking lot in building 7. It wasn't perfect (a courtyard view room would've been), but pretty good considering we arrived so late. We were the last ones to check-in that night, and the CM at the desk walked out after I rang the bell for assistance (no one was there when I walked in), and said, "Hey, I've been waiting for you." and he had all our info already printed out and ready.

I'm so happy that POFQ renovated their rooms, they are so gorgeous now, and I completely understand why some people have said it's as nice as a deluxe. Other than the outdoor corridors, this resort really is practically as nice as a deluxe. We used to talk about CSR being the deluxe of the moderates, well POFQ has now replaced that for us. The new coffee maker, and hair dryer in the room, and the real glass cups do make a difference. Our TV was huge! I think it was a 27" TV now that I think about it. We've stayed in many deluxe and DVC rooms where the TV is tiny. Heh.

The landscaping around the resort really is beautiful and delight to walk through. Pictures really don't do it justice. I'd obsessively looked at pics of the resort before I left, but the real thing is so much more beautiful.

We did try some beignets at the food court, and it was funny 'cause we got powdered sugar everywhere (bad day to wear a black shirt!).

BTW, I did notice that the doors in building 6's 1st and 2nd floors had non-smoking designations on them. I couldn't see the 3rd floor, so maybe those are still considered smoking rooms.

Anyway, I don't know what else to report about, so reply here and ask me any questions!

Is this a silly question, but what exactly are beignets?

Can't wait for October - we check into POFQ 10/31 to 11/4 and I am also obessively looking at photos.

Beignets are a deep fried doughnut-like pastry that's covered in powdered sugar. I suppose they might be kind of similar to funnel cake, but for me, the closest thing they remind me of are Zeppoles. They're probably really bad for you... w/ the deep frying and all, but they were pretty tasty anyway. Eat them outside your room though! The sugar get's everywhere! :p

square/rectangle pieces of dough that are deep fried and puff up like pillows, then covered in powered sugar. They, too, reminded me of the taste of funnel cakes. 3 were $1.99 They are made to order. Interesting to try.....

They do have life jackets. I know because I heard one of the lifeguards offer one to a woman whose child caused two of the lifeguards to jump in and grab her. The woman said "no thank you, she will not wear one." The woman was very calm, considering her daughter could have drown. When I heard the whistles and saw the lifeguards jump in my heart was pounding through my chest and it was not even my children. I will say the lifeguards are great around that pool.

Thanks for the report. We will be there in a couple of days and can't wait to try it out. I'm glad every thing was so nice for you.

Just back from staying at POFQ (5/12-5/14) and YC (5/14-5/18).
At POFQ, we were in room 6223. We had a lovely corner king bed non-smoking room, which also happened to be a water view. The decor is beautiful, with rich mahogany wood. It definitely looks like "deluxe" quality. I thought the bed at POFQ was more comfortable than the bed at the YC!:p The only annoyance was someone from bell services knocking on our door and trying to get in our room while we were taking a nap one day:( (apparently there was some mix-up with luggage).
It was a very short walk to the busses, food court, and pool area. The boat to DD was very relaxing and nice. You can see Saratoga Springs from the boat ride and it looks amazing!:D

POFQ is my favorite moderate and the only one I will stay at!!!
:teeth:

Thanks for the great report. We will be there tomorrow and cannot wait!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Guess I better finish packing.

Hi: Glad you had a great stay. We were there in april for our first stay and also loved the resort.

Can you tell me if the parks seemed busy and how hot did it get? Thanks,

Deb.
