We just got back today and we have a new favorite resort! :cheer2: We have stayed at Carribbean, POR and Beach Club Villas in the past. O.K...the Villas were nicer, but we were there with friends who were DVC members so that was a special treat.

We were in room 4234 which was in a great location. I had requested building 2, 4 or 5. Scoping things out, I would love to stay in a room ending in 35. They were corner rooms with 2 windows. Our room was a corner but we only had one window.

I wanted to address some of the worries I had before we went due to things I had read on these boards. First of all, my room was clean. The only day I wasn't thrilled with how things were left when mousekeeping was done was the first day and that is because the regular maid was off. When she was there, everything was well stocked and cleaned.

Some people had mentioned that the air conditioner didn't cool their rooms enough. My husband and I both run warm at night and we didn't run it on high because it got too chilly. I was comfortable.

The food court was what it was...a food court. We didn't spend much time there. I did bring my own micro popcorn and they let me pop it in the microwave. popcorn:: They had live music in the bar and night and that was nice. :rockband:

The buses seemed to run well. We only did the bus for Magic Kingdom because we have our own car and it is faster to drive to the other parks. The night we did late EMH at MK we had to stand on the way home because the bus was crowded, but usually it wasn't that full. BTW...that was great! We did everything we wanted to do and some things we were able to do twice! If you are a late night person, I strongly recommend it!

The pool was great. We didn't do the hottub but it was very secluded and pretty.

We never noticed any noise. Someone said that they could hear flushing in other rooms. I didn't notice anything like that. I also was concerned that there might be a lingering smoke smell if our room had previously been a smoking room. We didn't notice any off smells at all.

Sorry this is so long! I am just so excited because it was such a nice resort! We will definitely go back again!

Hi, welcome back. Glad you liked it. We are staying there for the first time in September and requested bldg 4. How was the location??

Thanks! We leave Friday for POFQ! Our first time there. As far as the smoke smell, a cm said they were thoroughly cleaning all of the rooms--- she said alot of rooms would be out of inventory in beginning of August due to extensive cleaning. Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip! I was sad that we didn't book CBR (the moderate we usually stay at)- maybe I made a good choice.

Welcome back! We just got back also from POFQ and loved every minute. Yes, there were some things I would like to see done differently. Beds need to be queen-size, mousekeeping was OK - a few things not to our satisfaction, but not severe, one nasty cm at the food court.

Overall though, our stay was awesome! The kids loved the pool, we did the hot tub our last night - boy was it HOT! We met some of the nicest people there - both cm's and guests. One day when they had to close the pool b/c of a thunderstorm, the lifeguards played board games with some kids at the pool bar and gave prizes to the winners.

We've previously stayed at the BWI and GF, and this is by far our favorite!

I'm sitting in my corner room at POFQ at this very moment. I have to admit that I REALLY like having two windows. I can't explain why, it's just neat.

We've fallen in love with this resort. It's very beautiful. The boys love the pool and we do too. The food court doesn't hold a candle to the one at POP but it does the job just fine. Overall this resort has the best decor for our families tastes. We have a new Disney home!

Your information has been wonderful. This will be our first trip to a Moderate (always stayed at Pop in the past). I am going to send a message to my TA to see if I can get a room ending in 35 now.

Glad you had a good trip and welcome home.

POFQ was the first moderate we tried after 4 deluxes and didn't really notice a drop off in cleanliness, service or noise level. We loved it there. The only reason we prefer the deluxe resorts is the dining choices - we like to eat sit down meals every day and like having a restaurant or two in the resort. Otherwise we really enjoyed it there and would recommend it to anyone!

:thumbsup2

I have a question about the refillable mugs. Do they say Year of a Million Dreams? and is there just one style? TIA!

We were at POFQ last Aug. and are returning again in 2 weeks. We absolutely loved the resort:love: . We loved the small size so that you could walk anywhere in just a few minutes. The pool was a lot of fun for the kids and I enjoyed the hot tub :cloud9: . The food court was pretty good (we liked breakfast more than lunch) and the beignets were delicious!:) The live music at night in the lounge was terrific and the kids enjoyed it as well. The boat to DTD was nice and relaxing - a nice change of pace from the usual Disney transportation. Just a word of warning though - the boat does not run in the rain, so if you make it to DTD and it's raining on your return, you will have to take the bus back to POFQ.

The rooms were always clean and Mousekeeping was attentive. The grounds are lovely and you feel as if you are in a neighborhood setting as you walk around the "streets" of the hotel. We never encountered any rude CM's - in fact, we felt everyone was helpful and friendly. When we booked our trip for this year this was no doubt in our minds we would return to POFQ!

I am glad you liked POFQ. We stayed there for our first ever trip as honeymooners back in December 1999 and loved it. We are going back for the first time with our kids in November. The resort is beautiful and I can't wait to go back. I am glad to hear that it is still just as great as I remember it. :)

We had a corner room during our first visit and I thought that all corner rooms were king rooms. Are there now corner rooms with double beds? I agree that the extra light made the room seem bigger and somehow nicer.

CollenlovesMinnie, we'll be there the same time!! I'm really excited to stay at POFQ. Even after reading some of the neg reviews, I'm still looking forward to our stay. Reading all of the good has us thrilled with our trip.
It will be just me and dh, so maybe we'll see you there!!:woohoo:

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Have been to POFQ 5 times and always liked it.
Getting a corner room is great, it make the room seem so much bigger.

Due to a medical eye issue, we always have a corner room and always double beds at every moderate :)

The slogan on the mugs is "Where Dreams Come True", and yes, all are the same style. I think the only difference is the lids come in different colors. The one I got has a blue lid. I think I read that the other two colors are silver and white.

You will find a recent discussion and photos on this thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1491373&referrerid=&highlight=yoamd+mug

I think that POFQ is one of the best kept secrets!! It's my favorite Mod resort. We are currently booked for BCV for the first time ever as a very special treat next year for my son's Spring Break trip... but then at Christmas, we are right back to POFQ due to price. :goodvibes

Three weeks from today will be our first stay at POFQ.:cool1:

I am now curious about the corner rooms. How far from the elevator are they? I also thought they were only the king rooms. Are the "35" rooms double beds?

We had a corner room at CSR and it was great. We were lucky enough to be in a weird location that there were only three rooms in total so it was VERY quiet.

Yes the mugs have standardized and say year of a million dreams. I was really bummed out that each resort now is getting away from having it's own particular mug.

We just returned from POFQ. It was our second trip. We loved the resort and will return again and again.

The corner rooms are amazing, IMHO! We had the one that was the FURTHEST corner (Bldg 7, third floor, corner room, King Bed)...in the entire resort... my son was 5 at the time and walking was just fine!

The light that comes in from the two windows just makes the room brighter and more cheery and the view is great!
:thumbsup2
