Just Back From POFQ - Can I Answer Any Questions?

My family and I just got home from our week at POFQ:sad1: . We had a great stay as usual. The CM's at the resort were great - friendly and helpful, even in the Food Court! We got towel animals every day (my DD couldn't wait to get back to the room each day to see which animal she got!).

I would be happy to answer any questions you have.

it looks like such a cute resort but i have heard the buses are very slow..how was your experience with them?

Are the buses generally slow? We've stayed at POR twice already and never had an issue with the buses (both times were in November)

Anyway, thank you for the good review about POFQ - we will be staying there in May!!!

Are the rooms still quite dark? Do they still have the yellow/cream coloured bedding?

I am thinking about taking a inflatable air mattress with us for my son, but the dimensions say it is about 40 inches wide... would it fit between the two double beds??? Or between the bed and the bathroom wall? Or will I have to put it by the door?

Thank you for the info!!!

Amanda

This was the first time we relied totally on Disney transportation - we thought they ran fairly efficiently. We never seemed to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus (except for the day we were leaving MGM - we counted 3 buses for Coronado Springs while we waited for our bus). At park opening and closing there are a lot of buses running so the loading time is much quicker - it seems we waited longer if we were leaving the parks during the early afternoon or returning to the parks in the late afternoon. Since POFQ gets picked up first you almost always get a seat going to the parks - returning is another story, and let me tell you, they pack those buses. If you're standing you really get to know the person next to you!:rotfl: The MK bus splits the 2 resorts so you have one going just to FQ and one to POR - the other runs combine the 2 resorts.

The beds still have the same yellow/cream bedding. It seeed the rooms were brighter this time - I think the light bulbs in the lights over the beds were different and seemed to give a lot more light.

We also brought an inflatable twin mattress with us - it did not fit between the 2 beds. It seemed to fit best between the bed and the door. I don't think it will fit between the bed and bathroom wall - we also had it one night at the foot of the beds in front of the TV cabinet - this is OK only if you don't have to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom - if you do it's pretty difficult to step over the mattress!

Hope that helps!!

I just booked a waterview room because it was only an $86.34 difference in price. Now that I am looking at the map, the waterview rooms seem to be the farthest away from the bus stop, food court, etc. Are they really as far away as they look on the map? I may switch to a standard view room. Any thoughts?

It depends on which building you are in - we were in Building 2 which is very close to the pool and food court/lobby. There are waterview rooms in Building 2 so they would be close to everything. Building 5 is also centrally located and they have waterview rooms as well. The other waterview rooms would be in Buildings 1,6, and 7. Although they are not as centrally located they are probably no more than a 5-10 min. walk. I think there is a difference between waterview and river view. The river view rooms are located along the backside of the resort facing the Sassagoula River. Water view maybe a view of the River but it may also be a pool view. You may have to specify river versus water. Buildings 1,6, and 7 seemed much quieter if that's attractive to you. Buildings 6 and 7 are closer to POR so if you plan on using any of their amenities the walk would be closer. Honestly, the resort is fairly compact in size so you're never too far from anything. There is only 1 bus stop at FQ.

If I can help you any more, please ask.

Hope you enjoy the resort as much as we do!:goodvibes

Thanks ColleenLovesMinnie -
I was assuming that a waterview & a riverview were the same thing. The person making the reservations said waterview so it might be a pool view. The rooms alongside the river look so far away. I will be staying in Feb. so I don't think the pool area will be as noisy as in the warmer months. Maybe I'll just request building 2 or 5.

I'd paid for a waterview my first time there, never again. It's more important for me to be closer to the food court and the bus stop. Of course, we're only talking about 2 min. but I certainly didn't get an advantage of having a riverview.

We will be there in 19 days and wondered if the pool view rooms are loud. We have stayed here before but always had courtyard veiw in building 5, but decided on a pool view this time. When we stayed at ASmovies and had a pool view room it was awful. The noise went on until really late at night.

I can't answer that question as both times our rooms were not facing the pool. For me personally I would not request a pool facing room because of the noise - I believe the pool is open until midnight and we're usually in bed before that. This morning when we were checking out at 6:30 there were people already on their way to the pool. Of course it depends on what time of year you're travelling - I'm sure the pool is much quieter on a fall/winter evening than a summer one.

OOH..thank you. We are staying at the POFQ so this is great. Do you have pictures?
