We just got back from OKW today after spending 9 days in a 2 bdr, Bldg 25. The room was ready for us when we arrived. Everything was great with one minor problem the previous guest took the remote for the TV home with them. We call HK and they had a replacement in our hands 10 minutes later.

Several cast members told us that the new DVC Resort at DI will include the Tree House Villas and extend to the Villas by DTD. They said that the buildings in that area will be torn down and new ones built. They are not sure about the Tree House Villas being rebuilt are just refurbished. The hole area looks like a ghost town from the boat as you go by.

Anything is possible, but I wouldn't count too heavily on the accuracy of cast member rumors. The Jaunuary announcement was about a 16-acre site very close to the Downtown Disney Marketplace -- and far from the Treehouse Villas.

That said, I could certainly imagine future phases in which Disney Vacation Development (DVD) gobbles up more and more of the Villas at Disney Institute property for DVC resort expansion or entirely new DVC resorts.

Just wanted to say I like your little counter down in you signature line... about the Pina Coladas! ;)

When we took the boat to DD one day last week we noticed that the bungalows were empty too. The curtains to the patios were wide open on all the units and it appeared that there was no furniture in them at all. We also took the path that leads from OKW to the treehouse villas and the bridge that crosses from the path to the villas had a gate up that was padlocked. We kind of wondered about that. It was not locked on our previous trip and you could walk over the bridge. I guess that the people staying in the treehouses can no longer use the pathway to DD. It will be interesting to see how things progress. It definitely is a short walk from DI to DD.

Just curious whether #25 is still a smoking building?

Yes, Pam Bldg 25 is a smoking building.

There are no rooms at DI in use at this time- even the Treehouses are currently vacant. Having a lock on the access bridge to the Treehouses is certainly suggests a long term vacancy for those also.

I would be surprised if the Treehouses were included in any DVC plans- even if they are refurbished. I could see that site being used for other structures however, assuming sales of that resort suggest a strong interest.

Stay Tuned!
