Hello all. We just returned from a 5 night stay at a studio in OKW. Room 5216. A great trip all the way around.
Check-in no problem. We requested no smoking, a first floor location...both were granted with no problem and the unit was ready at check-in (around 2PM on Sunday)
We usually have a 2BR when family accompanies us, but this time it was me, DW, DD 7, DS 5 and DS 1 in a crib. The roomier layout at OKW worked great for the 5 of us.
Last monday was cold, only 60 deg and sunny, but the weather improved every day until it was 85 on Thursday and Friday. We pool-hopped to the Grand Floridian on Tuesday, the Poly on Wednesday, and the Boardwalk on Thursday. The Boardwalk appears to be cracking down on pool-hopping by non-members as they had large sandwich boards at each walkway to the pool area letting everyone know that the BW pool was for the exclusive use of the BWI and BWV guests. We liked the new GF pool and slide, and we just love the atmosphere and pina coladas at the Poly. The BW pool is our favorite, though. The bartenders at the pool bar there recognized us from our trip last August. (Is that a good thing or a bad thing?)
We also had the same server as last time at the O'hana character breakfast at the Poly, her name is Susan and she's been there for 27 years!
Had great meals at LeCellier, Flying Fish Cafe, Portobello Yacht Club. Dinner at O'hana one night was so-so; maybe it's just not our style. Breakfast at Cape May Cafe was okay, we will try another character b'fast next time. Any suggestions?
Valet parked at Poly for no $6 fee. Paid the $6 at GF to park there another day. The BW valet asked for our member number one time and another time we told them we were DVC members and that was fine.
MK was extremely crowded on Monday afternoon, but there were plenty of characters all about to sign the kids' books and take pictures. Went back on Wed. to open the park and crowds were much lighter...
It was a magical stay from beginning to end. Now we wait to go back to a 2BR at the BW in November. If anyone has any specific questions I'd be happy to answer them...
Regards,
ROB
