Stayed in building 28,two buildings down from first bus stop, room 2820,studio. Room was great, best shape of any we have been in. Checked in around noon. We requested others buildings, but the CM offered us 2820 because it was ready for immediate access and we're not really that picky so we took it. About 4 am, I'm woken by what sounds like a train, then the noise fades out. Little later, same noise. This happens every nite around the same time. Wednesday,we're at the main pool, and I hear my "train". It is a laudry shuttle- picture the parking lot tram cars, only smaller- booking down the road about 25 mph, making noise like a tractor-n-trailer going over speed bumps. It does a couple loops and then disappears.Next morning,4:40 am, wakes me up again. This time I go outside and wait for it to come back around. When I get to the street I realize why it takes a 2nd loop; It bounces so badly that towels fly out of it,there is a trail of towels down the street.Sure enough,it comes back around, snagging the towels as it goes. I stop the train- it is unofficially called the "laundry tugger" and basically ask what the $%%# is going on. He has no answer, only says he's doing what he's told, blah, blah, blah. I ask who his boss is-he says Susan Smith. I go back to my room and call the front desk. The CM was very apologetic and stated that they've been in contact with this vender- he made it sound like an outside service was doing this- and have had no luck getting them to change their schedule or to even slow down. He also stated he would pass my concern onto his manager in the morning and someone would be in contact with me,(which no one did). I didn't wake up the following nite so I assumed something was done but later my DW informed me the train came thru and it woke her up but not me. Has anyone else had this problem ? For the most part I don't ***** about anything when I'm on vacation and had this been a one time event it wouldn't have bothered me, but this noise every nite was just absurd.

They should have realized you are a regular poster on these Boards and that now we will all be on the lookout for this villain. He may be attacked this summer by tired, cranky tourists who have been forewarned. If someone murders him we will all be suspects...

Sorry for your grief. It SUCKS to be woken up on vacation. I am going to Wilderness Lodge in a few weeks and live in mortal terror of the dumpster-view room, not so much for the view as the early morning noise. Hope your trip was otherwise great!

Saw and heard the train last month too. I thought to myself that OKW is aging and the carts are going downhill. Very loud and getting dirty. We were in building 16 and they all end up across from the parking lot in housekeeping in that area. I heard this during the day and it was annoying and quite an obstruction to the peacefulness at OKW. See - I thought it was a aging machine problem, not a new vendor. OKW management - you listening?

KNWVIKING,

Thanks for solving the mystery noises!!!

I had no clue what the heck the loud train noise was. We stayed at OKW three weeks ago, for the first time, and we were awakened early each morning by the "towel train". We assumed this was a normal occurrence, but your comments suggest this is new.

Now that I can relate the noise to a picture, I can visualize the towels just flying off of the cart (bup-bup, bup-bup, bup-bup, bup-bup, bup-bup, bup-bup...)

I was waiting for my internet survey to give some feedback on this. It definitely detracts from staying at OKW. I sure hope they fix this soon.

I would not be happy about being awakened that early every morning. Did you by chance also voice your displeasure with the head of housekeeping at OKW?

I just forwarded this thread to a DVC CM & asked that it be forwarded to the appropriate person. I know first hand that some DVC CMs do read this bb.

Thanks for sending my complaint onto a CM, hopefully they will do something about it and soon.

TroyWDW: The train has to be something new as we have stayed at OKW on Peninsular Rd several times and have never heard anything like this.

colleen costello: Yes,the rest of the trip was great, even in spite of the very hi temps. If anything, the temp made us relax more by the pools. The only other complaint (and complaint is actually too strong a word) is that the water in the quite pool over by the DTD walkway was bath tub warm. It really wasn't refreshing at all. I hope they started adding some cold water to it. Maybe the heatwave and lack of rain caught them off guard. Even the main pool lacked the normal "Ozone", but was acceptable.

What did the CM do with the towels once he re-snaged them??? I can just envision them being refolded and distributed to rooms to hide the carelessness.  YUCK!!!!

KNWViking, you are right about that "bathwater" pool by Building #55. My kids LOVE this pool as the water is so warm. They like it better than Stormalong Bay... for some reason it's always warm. Tell Disney if they cool it for you they have to re-heat it for me when I visit. :)

This thread was forwarded to OKW CMs this morning. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

I received my postcard in the mail today to access the survey website for our recent stay. I'll be posting the good and the bad (OKW Towel Train).

So that's what I heard last week when I was at OKW! I am usually up anyway at that hour but one morning I was awakened by the train going around the circle. Very annoying!!

Pool temps are tough to keep in a acceptable range at times. When there is a surprise warm night, or cold night, things can get thrown off. Setting the temp in these pools is not like setting the temp in your resort room. I was there more than once when the pool was like bath water, it was explained to me what happened, that being the air temp got warmer than expected-the same thing can happen in the other direction with a cold pool. At any rate I like it warm but realize it is a little tougher to keep the germ level down when it is real warm.
