We just sailed the Magic to Nassau and Lookout, so I figured I'd share our impression of things.
First - the pier walk. We are 53 and 54, overweight, and out of shape. It took us 10 1/2 minutes to walk from the ship to the island in the morning - in the rain! On the island, we did some snorkeling, walked around to check out all the areas, and walked the nature trail out to the lighthouse. The walk back to the ship was sunny and warm. It took us 11 and a half minutes to get back.
Second - Lookout Cay, while definitely unfinished, is simply stunning in our opinion. Photos cannot truly capture how beautiful the water is. Such a different snorkeling experience from Castaway, and we saw so many fish, even though the water was a bit rough.
Third - Junkanoo Rush is amazing. The band is so talented, and we had no idea that it ends with a parade back to Disney Tings, where you can hang out, dance with the band, and get pictures.
Fourth - the nature trail is quite rough in spots still, but totally worth the walk. The lighthouse is not huge, but the views from there are amazing. We spotted quite a few of the curly tailed lizards and the land crabs during our walk, which was fun! The only place I noticed any flies really hanging around was over at Serenity Bay's food area.
Fifth - the food. It's just meh for us. We don't like the food on Castaway either, and this mostly seemed like more of the same. We ate shortly after lunch time opened, and I was disappointed many of the "hot" dishes were cold.
Sixth - it poured for about the first hour and a half we were on the island, and there are not a lot of places to really get out of wet weather. We hunkered down by the smoothie bar, but between the wind and the more open roof design, it was still pretty wet under there. There was also a lot of standing water around the drink stations after the rain - enough to cover your feet! - and some of the pavement is quite slippery when wet if you have bare feet.
Overall? We thought Lookout Cay was gorgeous - and I can clearly envision how it will look in a few years when the vegetation grows in more and they aren't as openly working on things. Right now, you can still see most of what they are still working on, but it was easy enough for us to move on and focus on other things.
We will definitely do more cruises that stop there.
