Just returned from an II trade at Moosehead Lake Cottages in Greenville, Maine. What a great area.
If you like lakes, rural scenery, moose, canoeing, hiking, fishing . . . this is the place!
The cottages are actually designer log homes - 12 in all with 3 new ones to be completed next year. Most are single units with 2 floors; either 2 or 3 bedrooms and are about 1400 square feet. We had a "lockout" which is a duplex log home [split down the middle] of about 1000 square feet - only 1 year old which had 2 bedrooms and a foldout queen couch in living room. Brand new appliances, our own deck with log style chairs.
All log homes are beautifully furnished and decorated, have satellite TV, VCR's, CD players, etc.
It was 218 points for a week plus the usual $75 transfer fee for II.
Highly recommend and we plan to visit again. :earsboy:

Thanks for the info. glad to hear you had a great time. Being so far north in Maine I wondered how rustic the place would be...sounds like you had every modern conveniece available! We love Maine and spend several long weekends there throughout the year.

A couple of questions....are you directly on the lake and is there a beach area for swimming? Can you rent boats there? Is there any other entertainment in the area for a 5 year old? This sounds like loads of fun.

Glad to hear you liked our home, Maine. My BIL & SIL live in Greenville and he owns at Moosehead Lake Cottages, and they let them use the facilities when ever they want. He loves it there. I always think of the tv show "Northern Exposure" when ever we visit up there. Where did you eat while you were there? Greenville/Moosehead lake is such a beautiful, pristine place with some of the best fishing, wildlife, and scenic views the state has to offer. I think that is why I love VWL so much is because it reminds me of that area.

Cottages are about 1 mile from Lake. A Red Cross swimming area is about 1.2 miles away with certified Red Cross Lifeguards.
Boat, canoe, kayak rental locations abound. Rates are from hourly to weekly. Great hiking trails [found on internet], Baxter State Park, which contains Mt. Katadin [highest point in Maine - Mountain featured on LL Bean's logo]. We took a 3.25 hour Moose Cruise at 5pm one night in a custom made pontoon boat, which was excellent!

We ate at Kelly's Landing, ate in 4 nites [3 of which we purchased lobsters & steamers and cooked ourselves - yumm!]
Thanks for the "Northern Exposure" comparison - I knew this area looked familiar! I have never driven on so many dirt/gravel roads but each one held an adventure of some kind.

CT Disney Fan- Glad you got to enjoy the perfect Maine vacation. We Mainer's laugh about the fact that the 3 months of warm weather we have here is so crowded by tourists the the natives can't enjoy what the tourists do. So what do Maine people do... we vacation outside of Maine. LOL! But honestly, Maine people love the tourists and love learning about other parts of the country and world from the people who come to enjoy our state. Glad you were able to be one of them. Oh yeah, and those Maine lobsters and steamer......nothing beats them!
