We just returned from our stay at the Howard Johnson Maingate East, our first time offsite. We are not real picky and we knew that it would be a no frills motel and it was cheap. The people at the front desk were very nice, the rooms were what I expected, I think they had just been repainted but the carpet was pretty worn but it didnt feel filthy or anything, the pool was ok (the kids only swam once) it was nothing fancy, we werent in the room much and it defintely wasnt a Disney resort but it worked out ok for this trip. I had seen some so-so reviews but we were satisfied with this motel as just a basic no frills motel. It was very close and convenient to WDW.

Thank you for the review!! It's nice to know that some of the "budget" hotels in the area are not bad to stay at. I'll have to keep this one in mind for when people are asking about it. :)

It's been a couple of trips since we've stayed offsite, but this is one we have been to twice in the past. We're used to the Disney Resorts now but if we stay offsite again we'd definitely stay there again. You just can't beat it for the money and the convenient location.

A lot of people slam this one- I get the impression that some rooms here are definitely better than others. We stayed there last year and it was fine, but I've also heard some horror stories about it, too.

I found that it was okay for us, not deluxe or fabulous, but clean and quiet enough.
