Just Back From HHI

Hilton Head Island resort is beautiful. We had a 2 bdrm. It was great and the staff of the resort went above and beyond for us. It is very laid back to say the least. The resort was full but it seemed like we were alone for the week. Our room over looked the marsh and it was beautiful. I must say Hilton Head Island itself did not impress me. I would much rather go to Vero for a beach vacation. As some have said on this board the beach acess is a problem. The beach house is a mile up the road. I would rather come out of my villa and be at the beach. We spent 2 days in Savanna GA. We did get to eat at the Lady and Sons which I must say was fantastic. !! We had a great time, but due to beach acess I won't be in a big hurry to go back.

Lack of good beach access is why I sold my HH points. I love the beach at HH however.

We also just returned from HHI. This was our second visit, and we loved it more this time than the last. It's just hubby and I, and we brought our new bikes with us on this trip. The weather was nice (except for Christmas Day--gave me an excuse to do nothing!!), and we really enjoyed seeing the island by bike.

We were in a one-bedroom villa in the main lodge overlooking the marsh. We love the laid back feel of the resort, and we did not mind the short bike ride or car trip over to the beach house. Funny, we actually preferred the "out of the way" feel of the marsh side of the island versus a beach front resort, but that's a perfect example of how everyone has a different perspective on travel and what they enjoy.

We spent one full day in Savannah and also dined at Lady and Sons (for a second and equally enjoyable visit). We found ourselves waning to get back to the pace of the island, though.

Looking forward to our next low country visit!

Thanks for the report. We're headed down in June for our second time after 6years (of mostly VB). Last visit with teens was kind of a blur. Now it's just us. We're strongly considering to moving down that way from Virginia so we're real excited and can't wait to go.
