1) RC is there but the water is covered with Duckweed.
2) At check-in (which took forever) they stamped "NO POOL HOPPING", "ONE CAR PER SITE", "NO PETS" (non pet loops) on a form and you had to sign it.
3) The fried chicken at TE is great. I realized that it also tastes just like KFC and that may be why.
4) They will not start giving out you to golf carts until 1pm exactly. I waited 1 hour (12:45 - 1:45) the woman in front of me was there 2 hours.
5) HDD is corny but cute. I am not sure it was worth $50.00 though.
6) Camping is great! I will be going back soon!

Did you have a cart reservation? We've been able to get a reserved cart earlier--if it has changed I'll show up on time. Are all the carts the new ones now?

Isn't it though! Glad you had fun!!!

Were you able to walk down and take a look at RC? Glad you liked TE, we'll be going there this trip too.:D

Question.....is the renting of these golf carts hard to come by? Can you reserve them ahead of time?

I can't stand that rule, the lines gets longer each minute but they do not start until exactly 1 pm, it can very easily screw up the whole day.

Yes up to 1 year in advance. They go fast. They had a sign saying, "If you do not have a reservation, you will not be able to get a cart."

We went boating and pulled up next to the spillway.

In March, our check-in process took over 1 hour. It was dreadful. We had reserved 2 cabins and at the last minute we had a family member cancel. I thought it was no big deal but appartently it IS a big deal when you check in and something is off. They had to call CRS and were on hold for 45 min. Then she had to re-do the whole reservation. It was a mess. (We weren't on a package so no passes or anything had to be re-done.)

I guess during busy season they are more strict with the golf carts. When we were there the first week of March, she let us have our cart at 8:00am. It was so nice to pick it up early instead of mid-day.

Probably a really dumb question but here goes...

I see in some responses RC. What is that? We are planning a trip and will be camping a FW. Figuring out most of the abbreviations but could use some help. Also, is a cart necessary? Do they have shuttles from FW to the parks and is there a charge?

Thanks

bserenpreiss, I just responded to your own thread, but to answer some of your questions here...

RC = River Country, WDW's first water park. It is now closed and most likely will not re-open. (Oh, just typing that hurts!)

Golf carts are not a necessity. The bus shuttle system w/in FW and throughout WDW is as good as it gets. Your Key to the World (KTTW) card allows you access, w/out charge, on any of WDW transportation systems. And I have yet to see someone have to show their KTTW card to anyone.

bserenpreiss,
Carts are a cool recreation that can be transportation, though it would be a shame to spend some 50 bucks a day to leave the cart at the ferry dock for a day while you spent the day in a park, though it is done. The internal FW bus system, and for that matter even the entire WDW transportation system would for the most part have made Mussilini proud. They run often and pretty much on time.

Hello from the delta!

Our family refused to stay anywhere except FW for our trip this summer because of the golf carts! My twins turned 16 this spring and can't wait to finally get to drive. Yes, it is a waste to leave the cart parked while you tour the MK, but it is SOOO nice to hop in the cart after a long day at the park and scoot back to your cabin/campsite in no time flat! My kids and I really went round and round about where to stay, and the cabins won out simply because of the golf carts. Go figure!

SUUUURE the buses are slow, reeeeaaaal slow. I went to the meadows and back and the poor people that were sitting there 15 min earlier were still there. The only time there seems to be plentyof buses is when the HDR is getting ready to start. My MIL/FIL took 40 mins to get to 1600 looop after a day at the MK and we zipped back to our cabin 2200 loop in about 7 mins. Well worth the 43 per day. Will never go without one again

During our week 4/3-4/9 the carts were not givin out until 1 pm sharp. What holds up the process are the people that do not know you need reservations and they stand at the window trying to get one. They need to have a seperate window for boats, bikes and non reservation golf carts. This young couple waited over an hour to rent a canoe. SAAAD

another observation,

The pool sucks compared to other resorts.
1 not enough lounge and deck chairs ( even at 10 am )
2 NO HOT TUB
3 no theme
4 no slides
5 baby pool was COLD, regular pool luke warm

We still went to WL pool. our contention was we paid 300 per night for a cabin we were going to use the facilities that should go along with that rate. Never had any problems with using WL pool. I just wish they would update the pool at FW so we didnt have to go elsewhere

We love the cabins and the campground just think we get shorted on the swimming pool

RC will not re-open. I just got back last night. I talked to a CM while waiting in line for the backyard bbq. She said that the pool is so far out of code that they will never open it up.

I haven't been on the boards for awhile and logged on to see if there was any RC chatter. We were at FW last week and the paper that they give you listing all of the WL and FW amenities still lists RC as being seasonal. This is the same paper that lists the April movie schedule. Obviously this form is printed out monthly, so why wouldn't they have changed it by now? Why tease us and get our hopes us then dash them again.

We are looking at our ft wilderness gazette and there is no mention of RC at all. Also the movie schedule is printed on the same page at the activity map and there is no mention at all of RC. Furthermore the letter noting information about easter service, fastpass, transportation, tickets and WATERPARKS also makes no mention of RC so We dont know where you got that information. The signs on the road into FW have finally had the RC portion painted over. We dont know if all the signs have been changed, but we can guarentee that the printed monthy information doesnt include any information on RC

They've also painted over the River Country Logo on the water wagon near the settlement playground.
