We booked a garden view room and didn't ask for a special room ahead of time. We checked in, saw where the Tahiti building was, and were happy to be hear the TTC. But as we entered the building and started looking at the room numbers, we started to get excited because it seemed like we had a MK view room. And we did! We were on the ground floor, facing the beach and MK. It was awesome! The kids would go out and play catch with a football in the mornings, and we watched the fireworks from the beach a few nights.
My only complaint, having never stayed at the Poly before, is that the walls are paper thin. You can hear things going on in the hall and the rooms next to you. We had a crying baby in the room next to us for most of our stay. It wasn't a huge deal - and we've had our trips with a crying baby so I felt their pain - but it seemed rooms at the All Star Resorts were quieter. Of course it's probably that the Poly is an older resort.
Captain Cooks was great - they have self serve Dole Whips - yum! and we also enjoyed breakfast at O'Hana and dinner at Kona Cafe.
Oh - I have one more complaint - we weren't there long enough to really enjoy the resort more. We only had four nights (we usually go for a week) so we spent most of the time at the parks. With more time, I would have liked to rent a boat, spend time at the pool, and just laying in a hammock on the beach.
