We spent a week at ASMusic and I rented a scooter from Apple Scooter. The scooter was great and made my trip a joy. Apple was great to work with & I will definitely use them again. In the past I rented ECV at the parks and walked to & from the buses. It was too much so this time I rented for the week. I was nervous because of all the negative comments I saw but I can honestly say it was great. The bus drivers were wonderful and very helpful getting on. The older buses with the lifts are a little tricky but I did fine. The new ones with the ramp are great and I was told by next year they will all have ramps. I would encourage anyone who thinks they need an ECV to rent for the whole week. It also saved me $$$ which I spent on souvenirs!!!!

Your comments are helpful to me since we are planning to rent an ECV for the first time for DH who has a terrible time walking with his severe scoliosis. The part I dread most is getting his ECV on the busses with the frustration of others waiting; the ramp would seem to help.

I feel the same way about the buses. I am wondering if it is really worth the saving to go thru all the hassle getting on the busses and taking up so many seats. I haven't been to WD since '07. I rented a scooter daily from whichever park I was at for the day. Does anyone know how much it costs to rent daily from WD/

It is $50 a day at the park I paid $175 for the week from Apple. It is a very long walk from the bus to the rental scooters thus I rented for the week,. The bus drivers were great and I used it to see the whole resort which I would not have beeen able ot do otherwise. It was easy to take into my room ( I had requested and got ground floor) to charge at night. All in all a great decision!

Thanks for your review! I am renting from Apple scooters for my trip on the 19th. I sprained my foot and ankle and much to my dismay I am not nearly mobile enough to conquer Disney. I'm not even mobile enought o conquer the house! I will be parking and tramming b/c we are staying off site so I am a little worried about that. Well, DH and the boys will tram. I'll scoot.

It is not too late to go to your state's DMV site and print a copy of the application for a disabled parking permit and get it to your doctor for filling in for a temporary permit and going to a DMV office to get the hang tag. That way you will be able to you the disabled parking up front in each lot (as well as anywhere else it is needed).

Chesire Figment, they told me it takes 30 days in my state so I neevr applied. YUP. 30 days for a temporary permit. It took 4 days just to get someone to respond to my inquiry. Hopefully we'll be o.k. and we'll do our best.

Thanks GrammyJudy, like everything else prices have gone up! I usually walk with a cane, but Disney is just too much for me. I think I am going to reconsider renting at Disney! I booked a suite at asm on line so I may call and request a ground floor room. Thank you again

When you rented the scooter from Apple did you find that the charge on the scooter was enough to last all day. Did you need to bring the charger with you and charge it while in the parks or did you just charge at night. I am planning on renting from Apple next month. I have tendonitis in my foot that may need surgery and the doctor advised me to get the scooter. I know I will enjoy myself much more not struggling to get around the parks.

I have no rental experience with Apple, but this past trip I did get to experience their customer service and found out that they are changing their batteries every 4 months. This makes them almost new no matter who gets them. I would think you would have no problem at all lasting the full day, but if you are worried about it take the charger one day and see if you need it. If after that day you never needed it, leave it in the room.

I took my charger everyday as it fits in a pocket on the back of the seat. We spent up to 12 hrs in the parks and it never needed charging during the day. I plugged it in each night althoigh sometimes it was still almost fully charged. I did turn it off while sitting at shows and parades oe while waiting. All in all no problems.

I rented from Apple in October and had an issue with one not holding a charge and they immediately fixed it.

If you are renting from Apple and having to charge during the day - CALL THEM - they will be very helpful and get you a chair that won't require any charging...even if you are out for a long day. :goodvibes

Expect great service - I honestly believe they will meet your expectations. :thumbsup2

Thank you everyone for your responses. I called Saturday to reserve my scooter and spoke with Alex. He was very nice and helpful.

:goodvibes I used Apple last year when we went to Disney 2 weeks before I was to have knee surgery. I never would have made it around the parks without the scooter. It was a great choice. I could walk, but any distance became painful. And ramps were the worst! Do you know how many steep ramps there are before you get into the parks? I would have been in agony if I was renting inside the parks.

I used Apple in December 2010. Great customer service. :thumbsup2 My seat was too low, they were there in 20 minutes to fix it. I have a scooter reserved for our spring break trip as well.

To save money, I may bring my own scooter though. Anyone bring their own with them on a plane?

I brought my own small scooter (Pride GO GO) on the plane last month. I gate checked it and it worked like a charm. No problems at all. I also took it on the Magical Express bus from the airport with no problems. I would bring it with me again.

I agree with bedogged. I have flown with mine now 3 times. It was never a problem. I will do every time. I say if you have your own, take it. Use the money you would have spent for the scooter rental for something else.

I am glad to read these posts. I have reserved a scooter for next month and this will be my first time using one. I can walk for about 20-30 minutes and then it gets too painful. We had to rent a wheelchair the last two times, but I hate asking my husband to push me all day. So I am going to give Apple Scooters a try. I also worry about the buses and making people wait while i board. We are taking our car so if it gets too uncomfortable we can drive to the parks. I cannot remember, can scooters go on the boats from POR and the one at Epcot?

Actually I didn't realized how stressed I was about walking until I decide to use the scooter. I do have a couple of questions for those who have used them. Any tips about scooter in the rain? And how about at night, I am assuming they have some kind of reflector on them?
