Just back from Eastern Fantasy Voyage: The good, bad, and ugly!

Thanks for the viewpoints shared. FWIW, here are my impressions from that same EC Fantasy voyage, which I posted on trip reports with no traction:

. Oh, and have to give a shout-out to the Caspians, who provided wonderfully intimate night-time entertainment in the atrium each night.

4. The service—so-so. Our wait staff seemed in a bit over their heads. Kind of “low-talkers” (see Seinfeld episode) and not really effective in conveying menu options and definitions. Just expected a lot more from Disney on this front.

 I really enjoyed your comments, especially the Seinfield reference. We just got off of the same cruise and I wonder if we had the same servers! This was our 12th Disney cruise and the first time that the dining room service was horrendous. Because I have teenagers and we've been through this many times, we actually started to see a lot of humor in just how bad it was. We couldn't understand a word either of our servers said! I think they mumbled because they were trying to cover the fact that their English was poor. The head server was really bad. He would come and stand at the table and look at us, waiting for us to make conversation and then flee. Never once did he ask how the service was or provide any of the information that the head servers usually dole out.

We also loved the Caspians and took to stalking them around the ship, under the leadership of my 15 year old daughter!

To add to others' comments: We also did the mountain bike excursion in St. Thomas and really enjoyed it. The downhills were a little scary and the uphills could be a bit strenuous. This is a perfect excursion for active families with older children. We also did the Golden Eagle Catamaran in St. Marten and we loved it.

I am a marathon runner and found that deck 4 was a great place to get my miles in, as long as you do it early in the morning. Its so nice that you don't have to worry about the track being closed off for mooring as it often was on the Magic and the Wonder.

Thanks for posting your TR. We're sailing 5/31/14 so doing my islands research now and appreciate your comments!
