FIrst let me say, I thought this resort was beautiful! I would definitely stay again. We stayed in 8A overlooking the water (and didn't even request a preferred view!) I had requested this building via fax 3 days before arrival and we checked in at 8AM. We couldn't get into the room until later. They said call around 3, but we didn't get back until after 7PM. This dig site is great! And the jacuzzi was extra hot and wonderful!. I loved having the business center there. I was able to get a box and ship home all my dirty clothes with no problem at all (we do this every trip, makes room for souvenirs, LOL) We needed 2 rooms and actually got connecting rooms, even though I said that if they could just be within a few doors of each other, that would be fine. The bar was also open late one night (until around 1AM) which I think might be more likely to happen here because it is a conference center. I know AS was usually closed before midnight.

Now for the nitpicky in me...I was reminded how really large these resorts are. I find the AS much easier to get around. It's really quite a trek to go to the lobby for something. I don't mind the walk, but just can't adjust to the fact that if I need aspirin, it's going to take me 20-25 minutes to get it and get back to the room. It took me all of the three days we were there to figure out which stairs to go up and down. IMO they're a little sparse on stairways and what with all the corners and bends, I never seemed to choose the right one. Also figuring out which parking space was closest to our roon (via the closest stair)took a couple tries. I think they should move the refillable mug station to an area that's easier to get to. BTW the coffee in the room was much better than at the food court. I was disappointed they said the quiet pools close at midnight. I thought they were supposed to be open 24 hours. We had one monring with no hot water! UGH!!! It was JUST barely warm enough to rinse off without freezing, but I like a hot shower to soak in in the morning. I guess a few of the buildings had that problem. By 10AM they had fixed it, but by then, for me, it was too late. The room was fine (although the carpet did need to be restretched)
That's all for now. any questions?

Welcome home! Glad you like CSR. We're staying there for the first time in October, I'd also requested Cabanas 8. Would Casista's be better?

Rpsemont - Glad to hear that you like the resort and would stay there again. We too love cabana 8a

Jennymouse - cabana 9b would be closer to the main building and yet still close to the Dig Site via the bridge. The casitas are closer to the main building if you get building 1 and part of 3. Otherwise 9b is just as close if not closer.

Check out the map at my site below.

Jennymouse, If I went again I might be tempted to try 9A or 9B. As Buzz2001 9B is closer to reception and not far from DIg site via bridge. But with 9A you could be close to a quiet pool for "quick" dips, and only head to dig site when you're in for a swim and it's probably a little shorter walk to reception than 8A

Rpsemont: You took the "nitpicks" right out of my mouth concerning CSR--it is a gorgeous, but huge resort. As to the questions regarding Casitas 1 being closer--this is not a good choice for anyone with mobility problems--the walk to the main building is on a variety of levels, using steps, ramps, etc. My mom fell 2 X on our trip--I felt then that I would not stay here again unless I could be guaranteed Cabanas 8 or 9.

I have a question concerning shipping the dirty clothes. How many boxes did you ship? What service is used? How soon did you get them? Ballpark figure of costs would really be appreciated.

NCRedding - one box approx 24X10X42. It was really too big. Weighed 19 lbs. Cost $11.32 to ship. I probably could have packed same amount of clothes in a box 1/2 that size. Fla to Mass. I took it to the business center on Monday around noonish and it arrived at my office Friday (it costs more to ship to residential address - not much a couple dollars. ) I think it was basically $2.00 over UPS regular charge

If we book a room at CSR we need to consider the needs of a senior traveling with us. Pools are NOT an issue, but he needs to minimize walking to the food court, main building and whichever bus stop we would need to take to get to the various parks. Any suggestions? many thanks

:)

Glad to hear that you had a good time at the CSR, despite some nit-picks. Piglet203 and I will be staying at the CSR in 61 days and we are extremely excited to be staying there.
