I just spent 10 nights at CSR. It was our fourth time there. It will be my LAST time there.

This report is NOT meant to discourage people from staying at CSR. I am NOT suggesting anyone cancel and/or change any reservations they have at this resort. This is my opinion and the opinion of my DH. Your experience could have been different. Your experience might be different. This is MY experience and MY opinion. And this is twice that this happened to us.

First off...my room. I booked was a King Room. When I went to check in I was told there was no King Bed I said I booked this way back in Feburary. The CM said he would look well all of a sudden there was one but his answer was it will cost us more money then the rate we had, my DH said we allready had a rate for a King Bed. He went in the back to check comes out and says that room is now being redone with a new bed and it is not available. I felt very hurt that Disneys trying to squeeze more money out of us. All they kept saying too was that they had a lot of convention people coming in and I said I am here at 11 am and I thought I get the first room since they are not here they said I was mistaken. I also explained it was our 6th time at Disney in the past year and they did not care. At that point I asked to speak to a manager she came out and said almost the same as the CM except she said she might have one the next day so we said we would take the room with two beds for the night. BIG MISTAKE so we go to the room and my DH says lets not unpack since they plan on moving us. The next day we get a call that it will be another day or so. This went on every day and when I would try to talk to her she was never available she always left voice messages on the phone. We even went to the front desk with no help. No one even care that I was not happy or even try to seem interested in anything I had to say all they kept saying was there was nothing that could be done. I never ever got though to her and she never tryed to call me when I left my cell phone to call. I am home and still never even a call to say they were sorry. We will never stay there again.

No, they said that rate for either size room and I said the CRO told me it was for a King bed and was told they made a mistake. I am thinking twice in ever trusting a CRO anymore.

Ok, they should have been more accomodating, and it seems as if you got bad service from a management person.

However, please don't tell me you let a bed size ruin a vacation.

Bed size could ruin my vacation. If we stay at a moderate we book and pay for a king bed, we cannot sleep comfortably in a double. If we can't get a good nights sleep it will put a damper on our vacation. The first time I stayed at a moderate I couldn't believe they had double beds not queens.

Well, she didn't state the reason for wanting a king bed. Wanting and needing a king bed are two different things. If size of people creates an issue, OK, I can understand. If it were just because they wanted one and didn't get it........ She didn't mention anything about kids, (and I would think there are any since they were just getting a king), so comfort should not have been an issue since there could have been one person to each double. Maybe not as romantic, but come on.

As I see it, there was no reason to make this such a big deal. Now, I love to argue, and would have had fun giving them a hard time about it. However, to let it consume me to where I would never stay at that resort again.......

When I request something and when I go on Vacation I want what I am use to at home and not have to settle for less. I enjoy sleeping with my DH and when I am on vacation it is not from him either. Our size is not the issues since we are both on the slim size and I think if I requested something it should be honored. That is what I am use to getting from the places I stay at I will never go to a less then a deluxe again. If that is the kind of people and service that is offered at the moderates and when you ask for a deal then they can keep it.

I notice in your statement that you requested a king size bed. Did you in fact make a request or did you actually BOOK a King room at CSR. The regular rooms come with 2 double beds. There is a added cost for the king rooms......usually in the range of $20 - 25 more per night.

If you actually booked a king room, this is how your confirmation letter should read (dates are taken from our upcoming Thanksgiving trip, directly from the confirmation letter):

Arrival - 11/23/04
Departure - 11/29/04
Nights - 6
Guests - 2
A - 2 (I'm assuming this means adults)
J
c
Rooms - 1
Room View - KING BED

This is how every one of our trips to CSR has read, except for our Dec trip. We booked a STANDARD room and that's what we expect to get. We won't be requesting a King Room because we opted to pay less per night to stay at a Moderate that has high speed internet.

If you did indeed book a King Room, then you are entitled to a refund of the rate difference between a standard room and a King room. If you simply requested a king room, you got what you paid for in the first place.......a standard room with 2 double beds.

According to the Disney Price lists you are charged more for a King bed room at the moderates. If this couple paid for a king bed room and did not receive one they should have been refunded the differance at a min.

Usually a "water view" room at a moderate and a king bed room is the same price so maybe they put this couple in a "water view" room that had double beds but that should have been explained.

Usually there is a rate for a "standard view" room, a "water view" room and a "king bed" room.

So if you paid for a "king bed" room they should have at least put you in a "water view" room and that would not have required them to give you a refund, but if they put you in a "standard view" room then you should have received a refund.

Seems like it still has you rather upset. I would say you've made way too much out of it, and let a BED ruin your stay at a fantastic resort. That's just my opinion.

Sorry, KevinFSU, I don't agree--the OP, if she paid for a King Bed room (that's an "if" since I thought they only had std. view and water view), should have received one, period. If cuddling in a King Bed makes the OP's vacation and double beds don't allow for this (as they don't for me and my DH who is BIG), then not having a king bed can be a real pain. This is especially true as the manager apparently misled the OP into thinking the situation would be resolved.

Oh, and the OP did not say the bed issue "ruined" her vacation--she just said she wouldn't stay at CR.

I would write a letter to CR mgt. if I were the OP. At the very least, it might make her feel better and clarify the whole situation.

Hi Maryjane - I agree with you. If I book and pay for a king size room, that is what I expect to receive. My DH is 6'5" and 245 lbs and he tends to 'pig' our king size bed at home. So for me, a double bed is not comfortable. A queen is even pushing it. The fact that you can reserve a king size bed is one of the reasons that we sometimes select a moderate instead of a deluxe. But the reason you wanted a king size room is not important - you should have received what you booked and at the very least been offered a refund of your overpayment. And from my experience, a king size bed is not simply a 'request' at a moderate as it is at a deluxe - it is something you pay for. I would write to Disney and explain that I did not feel the treatment I received was appropriate. Sorry you didn't get what type of room you reserved.

We just returned from CSR, and although I sympathize with the OP, it has nothing to do with CSR, as you will have this problem no matter what mod you stay at. We stayed at CBR for our honeymoon (a time when you really want a King bed) and although the "request" was made in our ressie, our travel agent didn't "pay" for the King, so when we checked in, there were no Kings available. We spent the first 2 nights of our honeymoon sleeping in seperate beds (dh is 6'6" and a stomach sleeper who sprawls, so I didn't even try to fit in a double with him). We kept calling and finally we did get upgraded to a King/Water view but there was an additional charge (which we did pay for up front, but in the end it didn't get billed so there was a credit when we checked out!).

This time around we wanted a King, same price as a waterview, but it was more important for us to have connecting rooms, so we weren't too disappointed when we didn't get it. Actually, I know it's awful to say, having only been married for 4 years, but we actually prefer to sleep in seperate beds on vacation if they aren't King size, as we both get better sleep!! We keep saying instead of upgrading our queen at home to a king, we're going to get side-by-side twins with seperate bedding and one big comforter! That way I don't lose the covers when dh rolls over and takes them all with him, and we each have our own space!!

FYI, they were replacing all the mattresses while we were there, our room got done half way through (bldg 8a). 50/50 on the review, I really liked the new beds, my parents not as much.

Unless she was put in a "water view" room as at the moderates a "king bed" room and a "water view" room are the same price.

For the record, I'm not saying she shouldn't get some sort of refund, if one is owed. I'm not saying she shouldn't have gotten what she wanted. I'm not saying she shouldn't have pursued the matter.

What I am saying is, to let the size of a bed upset you that much is extremely petty. Its not like they were forced to sleep on the floor. If that were the case, I'd be right in her corner.

A couple of years ago I booked a room at WL with a regular bed and bunk beds for the kids. We got to the room and there were just the two regular beds. The kids were disappointed, but were at Disney and it wasn't a big deal. Even though I was ticked for a bit, I made no deal out of it at all. I probably could have gotten it changed, but it was only a bed. I will certainly stay at WL again and love the resort. I didn't let it mess up our vacation, I didn't write about it on a message board, and I hadn't even thought of it again until now.

At least have a good reason to blow your blood pressure, not something like this. Remember the motto: Don't worry, be happy. ::yes::

Calling me petty is not nice my reason for posting was I did not want someone going to this place thinking they are gonna get what they requested and paid for. Or know how this place treats people I am sorry you feel like I bother everyone. Then again you might be someone who feels he is the only one that gets a bad deal. Or you may like having people treat you less then what you deserve.

I travel too much and I know how people are to be handled and I am use to very fine things. Just so you know my trip was not all about the room OK

I kind of figured there was some "nose in the air" factor going on here with the "never less than a deluxe from now on" and making such a deal out of this. However, the "used to fine things" comment confirms it. That explains everything.
