We loved this resort! The ease of access to MK and Epcot makes it a big winner. The excitement of the monorail and the lake are added bonuses. My kids loved this slide better than any other we have stayed at yet.
Just some thoughts...The walk from our room(NW-7333-3rd floor) to the Food and Fun center was not as bad as I anticipated. Much easier and closer than our walks at PO, CSR and WL. The mug is a must if you are staying several nights(we stayed 5 nights and they more than paid for themselves, plus we all have a souvenir).
Our room offered a view of the fireworks, space mountain AND the lake. Very nice, perfect view IMHO;) ! The room and bathroom size were more than adequate for our family of 4. DS slept on the daybed and loved that. Lots of good space in the bathrooms to put your stuff too as the toilet room also had a vanity area. Easy to walk to MK and ride the monorail back. Easy and quick to get to Epcot also. We drove to AK and MGM. The only thing that seemed to need replacing was the hall carpet in some areas. Not real noticeable unless you were looking, but they were stained in areas. A few doors were being painted one morning. Everything in our room looked and worked great.:D DD got a hairwrap by the towel pickup counter near the pool. ONLY opened on Saturday and Sunday now. It is seasonal too. You can buy a box of Entenmanns doughuts(8) for $3.49 on the 4th floor attached to the giftshop. Great for early entry mornings. DH or the kids would go refill our mugs when they got dressed and ready, and we ate doughnuts 2 mornings. The CM's were very nice. Our kids both got the Disney Adventure Magazine that arrived after we checked in. They also have a good supply of bandaids etc at Guest relations(the box had all types of medicines individually wrapped in twos-pain, sinus, antacids etc-we just needed a bandaid for me!). The lifeguards were excellent. Saw our first rescue of a girl about 3 who went under at the bottom of the slide. Lifeguard blew a whistle, jumped in with that orange thingie and did her job. Girl came back later with a lifevest and unfazed!. Pool was almost soley ours around 1-2. Lots of attention from lifeguards! Very crowded the one day we went at 4. Icees in our mugs were great by the pool!
'Ohana and PSB were well worth it! Quick monorail ride to Poly. Our PSB was at 8:30 and we had PLENTY of time to spare taking the monorails.
Parks were NOT crowded at all except MK on Wed evening for Spectro and fireworks. We felt we had Epcot World Showcase to ourselves at times. Arrive at 8 for EE at MK or 9 at the other parks and you have a couple hours of no lines. Utilize Fastpass and always have one working for you if needed.
Can't wait to return later this year. :D

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at the Contemporary. It's my favorite resort:D . Thanks for the posting about your experience!

Sounds great -- thanks for the great report. Especially helpful for Moms (like me) with little ones.

The theming of the Contemporary isn't my favorite, but the location can't be beat. I also love the Polynesian, but my dh is being a crank (too many trips planned this year, I fear) and says he has "no interest" in staying at either... What a weirdo! We have DVC, but we always add on a night or two somewhere to save points and try out another resort. Your Garden Wing sounds PERFECT... I will probably decide without Mr.Cranky's input next time! :)

I always decide where we stay and DH has never been disappointed. Kids favorite is now the CR! We have either CR booked for mid Dec. or AKL for late Nov. He may have to decide this time :p !
We bought a Pal Mickey in the 4th floor Gift shop as soon as we arrived. The CM offered to take him out and I was glad I let her with all the twisties etc. She kept the box and all the parts in perfect condition. Very helpful CM's there! :D Pal Mickey was a huge hit, worth every cent.
We were surprised the elevators in our Wing had Mickey and Minnie's voices, thought that was just for the tower.
Oh, the kids LOVED that gameroom also. We let DS go by himself twice, and we sat in the food center after dinner while DD played. Both got enough tickets for some prizes.
Will be hard to go back to a moderate next spring  !

Bibbidi, I will reminsice about that VERY gameroom... Ages ago, I guess I was about 15, my family befriended another family at the Polynesian pool. They were staying the same week and were originally from NJ, like us. They had 4 kids and my sister and I spent the week having a ball with these 4. One of the boys asked "just me" to go out with him one evening, and my Mom actually let me go. Things were more "innocent" then -- I think my Mom thought no harm could come to you at Disney World -- and I was so excited. We rode the monorail over to the Contemporary and spent a few hours playing arcade games in the very same arcade room. One of the "hot new" games was PONG, which was just two paddles on the screen hitting a ball back and forth but we thought it was sooooo cool... This must have been about 1978. After a thrilling evening at the Contemporary, I confess to smooching this boy at the Poly Beach before rejoining the group... very romantic!

So I guess I need to convince cranky hubby that the Contemporary is a magical place and we MUST stay there at least once... if only for the arcade! :)

He-he:p ! You may not want to share that with DH or you won't be staying there!

I think the CR is one of the best resorts too.

For me it's hard decision between the CR and the Poly. One of my newphews likes the CR because we stay in the tower section, so like the view from up high. The other one likes the Poly because he was called on stage to dance with one of the hula girls last year (old show, before Spirit of Aloha).

We haven't tried the Garden Wings, opting for the Tower. Everyone thinks it's cool to walk out your door and see Chef Mickey's or the monorail buzzing through.

Glad you had such a great experience!

48 Days until we're back at WDW!

Glad you had a great time. We stayed at the Contemporary 3 times before and loved it.
