Just back from CBR

Just came back yesterday from our second stay at CBR. The resort was great as usual. We were in Aruba 52 and the mouse keeping was outstanding. The pool was never real crowded and my 4 year old thinks its the greatest thing ever. I have one complaint and it was the same complaint as last year... the bus service continues to lack at this resort. It seems like they just don't have enough buses to accommodate the size of the resort. I pretty much stood every time we rode the bus because it was so crowded. It became frustrating every time we would leave Magic Kingdom at different times of the day and CBR would be the only resort with a line. I really hope Disney will try and fix this issue cause the resort itself is awesome.

Umm, I'm hoping you are aware that Disney means for more people to stand than sit on the buses. That is how they were designed. Few seats, more standing room.

And the new buses that they are trialling will have even fewer seats to maximize occupancy. If sitting is a must for you then you might need to consider a rental car.

I have no issue standing, but in my opinion there are a lot less buses at CBR compared to other resorts. I think there is an issue when I see short lines at other resorts and a steady flow of buses pick them up while CBR's line completely filled with one bus every 20-30 minutes. Just my observation.

It could be you ran into an off night or two. Or it could be the standard "hey, why does every resort have a bus right away but MY resort!" phenomena.

I though the same thing leaving Epcot for CSR during my last trip. Every resort looks like it has better bus service than the one you are staying at. It is just how it goes.

We stayed at CBR a couple weeks ago, and I agree 100%. Standing is not even an issue with me. Just getting a bus to come was the problem. One bus every 20 minutes for a resort this size at closing time is unacceptable, and we saw this happen on more than one night of our stay. CBR definitely has a problem with this. It's a huge resort, and it has a ton of people. They should have enough buses to offset this, but they don't. I've stayed at other resorts and thought the buses were fine, but CBR has made me hate the bus system. Our next trip we will be either driving to WDW or renting a car once we get there.

My family stayed at CBR last month and we did not have these issues. In fact, our buses never even filled to seating capacity.
We visited all the parks but usually left by 5-6 pm. We did see Illuminations at Epcot one night and even then we had seats on the bus and a short wait time.

I'm sorry you find a 20 minute wait unacceptable, but that is Disney's target time. A bus should come by every 20 minutes or so. So the buses were running as Disney intends them to run.

Maybe you have just found that you are not a bus family. Not everyone is.

But it wasn't a 20 minute wait. The buses might come every 20-30 minutes, but when the line is completely full it takes over an hour to actually get on the bus. I doubt that is Disney's target time.

This is exactly the problem. We waited 1 1/2 after closing at MK, and then the next night 45 minutes at HS after closing. The issue is that every other resort had shorter lines in both circumstances. I have no problem waiting for a bus for 20 or even 30 minutes, but the line for CBR at closing was so long it was spilling into the other lines and taking over the whole area. For a resort that large they need to have buses coming more frequently.

We never had a problem with CBR buses. We had that problem with POP buses. The lines were terrible and everyone else's buses seemed like they were always driving by.

That is what I am saying. It always seems like every resort but the one you are staying at has better service. I think it is just that every resort can be off for a while when it comes to how many buses are servicing it at the time.

We had the same experience at CSR this past March. Leaving the parks it looked like every line was shorter and we had longer waits for a bus to come. We kind of laugh about it though, because we think the same thing no matter where we stay. It isn't only a CBR issue.

The bus system will never be perfect. And it does stink to be at a resort that seems to be having issues. I've learned to keep an extra $20 in my pocket, so that if I'm not in the mood to wait, I can just grab a taxi.

We've stayed at seven WDW resorts, including CBR several times. We found the bus service to be good at all the resorts, CBR included. There might have been the occasional time when it seemed to take longer than usual to get on a bus, but, overall, bus service was as efficient as a system that large can hope to be. It helps to keep in mind that each resort doesn't have its own fleet of buses - they are dispatched from a central source, so it isn't the resort's fault if there's an issue with bus service. There are inevitably going to be times of day that so many people will be be waiting for the buses that there will be longer waits. That's just the way it is with any mass transit system.

Hmmm - I have heard the complaint about the busses many times - from many different DISers. I think you are correct with the size of the resort which is causing all of the problems.

Wouldn't it be great if it had a boat to any of the the resorts?!?! I think that would help some problems - but I don't think thats a possibility! lol :)

Glad you and your family had a good time though!

I have always rented a car, I am not a bus person, when I want to leave the parks I do not want to wait. Same with going to a park, this is even more so with a 3 year old LOL
But thanks for your review, CBR is a place I want to stay at

I've read all these posts and had to laugh.... we're deluxe people and rely soley on Disney transportation....and we either seem to either be waiting for a bus, or running to get one that just pulled in... I agree with Maxiemom, seems other resorts are accustomed better.... It doesn't matter, all resorts have their issues... It just seems to be alway you that is made to wait , etc...

It's no big deal to us, we will never rent a car... unnecessary expense to us... if we must sit than stand we'll wait for a second but, and when leaving a park at closing, we either leave before the mass exodus or linger in the park after closing and let all the other rush to get out...we never have any issues with the transportation system as long as you understand it's principles and adjust your thinking accordingly... It may not be the best, but it does work, doesn't impact our stays and is "free"! To each their own, but we'll never drive on property when transportation is provided..

We just got back from CBR and I think the bus service seemed so much longer to me because we had to make all the stops at the resort. There are about 6 stops before you ever get going anywhere.

Thanks for your review.
After my one stay at CBR, I decided that I would rent a car if I ever stay there again. And I hate renting cars.

I loved CBR with the exception of the check in being a seperate building and the buses. I usually am fine with disney transportation but at that resort it drove me insane.

And the seperate building issue - well, when the room key quit working for the 3rd time and I had that long hike to the check in building because my room was at the complete opposite of the resort to get it fixed, I was not a happy camper.
