Just back from CBR...

We were in Aruba - 5202. On the ground floor our view was basically of one of the other Aruba buildings. But it was very quiet and just a short walk to our section's quiet pool. The walk over the bridge to Old Port Royale wasn't bad at all. if you don't want to do any extra walking then I'd suggest Martinique or Trinadad North as they are the closest to Old Port Royale.

Have to add that Housekeeping was really good to us. Of course I did tip everyday and would leave messages on my "mousekeeping" envelopes for extra towels & etc. always had lots of success with that. We did get towel animals the first day they did our room. The kids were really excited - I hadn't mentioned this to them in case we didn't get one. And we got a second one a few days later.

Due to the last minute addition of extended family members, it looks like we will be switching our plans from VWL to CBR. So - I'm just beginning to research this resort...

If we "happen" to get Trinidad-South - how bad will it be?? Does the promenade cross a busy road?? We "will" have two cars with us, but driving a car to the main pool and arcade is somewhat of a turn-off for me. I'm concerned at how spread-out this resort seems, but we are trying to go to a place none of us have been as my DS and DBIL can be a little derisive in their comments. So - I thought by going someplace new - it would help soften the blow if they are snide about spending all this $$ to stay at Disney. (Thus our move from WL - they have a LOT more money than we do, by far, but have a no room over $100 Rule. That's probably why they have more money than we do! LOL!)

We will have three first-time Dis resort people with us and one first-time Dis anything ever, so we are trying to do a WOW vacation while catering to 8 (might be 10) people ranging in age from 83 - 11! The CBR looked appealing as it was moderately priced, recently renovated, the theme is "adult" AND "fun for kids" all at the same time and there's a pool bar. (Okay - I admit, that's for me - I'll need it I have a feeling!)

Cheer me up! Tell me that even if we got a worst-case scenario room arrangement, that we will still love this resort. And, that the foodcourt isn't "that" bad!

Thanks!

Tesabat - This upcoming December will be my 6th stay at this resort. I LOVE it, and I'm sure you will too.

Because you have alot of people in your party, I would call Disney and request rooms in either Martinique or Trinidad North. If they cannot honor your request, ask for Jamaica or Aruba. Worst case, if they do stick you in Trinidad South, you'll still have your own village pool that's almost as good as the main pool. My DH and I rented a bike and rode around the grounds of CBR last year. We were surprised at how peaceful and beautiful Trinidad South was. Yes, it's kinda far from Old Port Royale, but you won't have to cross any streets or anything like that.

Truthfully, if you explain your situation & make a reservation request, they'll do everything possible to make sure you get what you want.

There's lots to do at CBR, so enjoy!

July will be our first stay at CBR, but I have head that there is an internal bus that runs around CBR. So if you are in TS, then you can catch the bus to OPR if you don't mind waiting.

Here's the scoop on the internal shuttle: This is actually the same bus that does the Downtown Disney/Typhoon Lagoon route. It will make a circuit of all the stops at the resort, go to Downtown Disney & Typhoon Lagoon, then when it returns makes two rounds of all the resort bus stops as the "internal shuttle". We never used it as the shuttle but did go to Downtown Disney & Typhoon Lagoon about 4 times. It was the one bus that we saw the very least of the entire time we were there. I wouldn't count on riding this every time you want to go to the main pool or food court. I heard more than one person complaining about having to wait in excess of 45 minutes for it to show up.

Hey Briar-\
my travel agent told me she thought all the rooms were non-smoking... do you happen to know if they are, or if there are certain islands? I want to make sure I get a non smoking room BEFORE I go. We're going 11/27-12/2 and CAN'T wait. We're going to try to get PS for California Grill for Thanksgiving Dinner. I'm hoping there will be FIREWORKS!!!!

thanks for your help:Pinkbounc

Thanks all for the info! I'm starting to feel optimistic and excited about this change in plans!

I'm pretty sure Aruba building 51 was a designated "smoking" building. I'm not sure of the other areas. I just requested a non-smoking room and that's what I got. I did notice an ash tray outside of the room next to ours - and I know that they were smoking in it even though it was supposed to be "non-smoking". If there is any problem when you get to the resort - just request a change of room...

FYI...Trinidad North 31 is a smoking building
