Just back from CBR

Its unfortunate that your stay was not as magical as you expected. These types of incidents can occur at any WDW resort. Don't give up on them.

I do hope other people have better experiences there than we did. The room we had in Jamaica was refurbished to the Nemo theme. The bed spread had blood on it already! Yikes! I really do think we are just needing a disney break. We did have a lot of fun in the parks though and that's what it's all about. The pool there was nice but it just wasn't comfortable. The big concrete structures were always in the way and I couldn't sit in a chair and watch my son swim. Also, there were a bunch of screaming cheerleaders there the first 2 days. I think I would much rather do a deluxe next time or off site.

Sorry CBR didn't live up to your expectations.

We've stayed non-preferred twice and preferred once. In all honesty, I would have just as soon saved the money and stayed in a non-preferred location. (I didn't have a choice last trip because all they had available was preferred.) All this talk about the walk being 15 to 20 minutes is a bunch of horse poo. I've walked around the ENTIRE resort in 20 minutes. Maybe the person was crawling their way around the resort.

Why would someone care if another poster thought their favorite resort was the best? The whole thing seems so silly to me. I've never really cared what other posters thought was the best value, mod or deluxe. DH and I stayed at ASMUSIC in 1995 at the urging of our travel agent. We disliked it. I don't routinely go on a "what's your favorite value thread" and posted negative things about it.

Thanks for the explanation though. Sometimes I don't ask things here because it seems like everyone else knows what is being discussed except me! For instance it took me a while to post on a Photopass share thread and ask why anyone would share a photopass with a stranger. I mean I thought Disney just gives you the cards for free when you get there...why would you have to share?

I hate to post here again because I'll be accused of bumping but...

LoraJ, like you, I too have been on these boards a long time (since 1998 - goes back to the old server). I've seen numerous new people come and go after attacks on resorts. I won't type the names since the mods won't like it. Everything you discribe is also happening on the CSR LIED TO ME thread. People from 2005 with under 50 posts mysteriously coming out of the wood work. CBR is not alone. There are always people who go against a mod in a mod vs deluxe just because and then vote for their mod against a deluxe. I'll give you examples if you like but I'll have to PM them because the mods don't like names being posted.

I believe after a thread has reach its usefulness, it should be locked because of this very situation.

So please don't try to imply that it is only a CSR thing. I've seen CSR and POFQ go from tied to CSR being down 20 votes in 10 mins.

I still don't know what a photopass share is and I thought Disney did give you them for free!!! lol I knew something was up when I see strangers sharing, but I have yet to find out what it is....maybe I'll do that next.

Onto the original note, I am happy to hear that there is a conspiracy!! Although I was beginning to wonder if someone had it out for me. I was booked at POR and only really wanted to switch for 2 reasons. 1- my youngest (2) wouldn't be considered a 5th person because he's only 2 so I may not have had the trundle bed and 2- this would be our very last time to ever stay at CBR - Pirate Room because we have 3 kids and well, as stated in # 1, the youngest is 2.

So I saw such good review of CBR (big thanks to momof2disneyboys) and I was lucky enough to snag one of the last pirate rooms to be had in May (thusfar) and now all I see is crappy stuff about CBR and blood and stuff.

Anyway, I'm not changing again, I know I'm going to love CBR and if I have a problem I'll just be nice about the whole thing and get it resolved. I won't let it bother my entire vacation.

But seriously, if someone is posting under a variety of names just to make their resort look the best - grow up! You have way too much time on your hands and should find a way to make the world a better place.

haha thank you for answering. We are bringing my in-laws with us this time and I was worried that I was making them walk all the way around the globe for breakfast in the morning!

We have stayed in Jamaica 41, Martinique 23 and Martinique 24. We've been upstairs twice and downstairs once. We actually put in a request for Jamaica in 2007 but were placed in Martinique 23 which I thought was just about the same walking distance as from Jamaica. In 2008, all the non-preferred locations were booked so we had to book preferred (Martinique 24).

To me, all locations at the CBR are good since the walk is so pretty and relaxing.

We are family that tends to stay in a 2 bedroom at the BWV's or BCV's. We do add 3-4 days at another none dvc deluxe onto our stays until the last 12 months. We had a few less than great Poly experinces and decided to try a mod we chose POR. Okay we were't blown away by it and probably will pass on thsi resort in the furture. Nothing big just not a good fit for us. After a great rate of $49 was booked at the Sports (Value) we decided we would try a value for the first time in our Disney family hx (15 yrs). Let me say for $49 it was a far better value for us. A room being clean is by far the most important aspect of a resort room, the All Star Sports cleaning staff could teach the Poly's staff a thing or two or three. So it bugs me to NO end when people complain about a certain level of resort because the seem to be above it.

I have many families ask for my opinion on resorts when they are planning a vacation and I always send them to this site and Deb.s and encourage them to decide on their own.

If people actually do all of this screen name changing well...I say to them go get a job if your that bored.

1. The "mod war" is ridiculous. What are some of you thinking, that Disney will send bulldozers over one of those resorts because it didn't win the most popular poll on the DIS ??

2. OP, sorry that you didn't like your resort. But I gotta say it would take way, way more than a dirty bedspread and a boring food court to cut one of my Disney trips short.
