Hello All!
We made reservations in November for CBR and had a lot of time, therefore, to review both the pros and cons of the resort. Having just returned 1.5 days ago, all that I can say is Wow!!! That place is beautiful!!
I read a lot of concerns about the size of the resort and the buses. CBR is HUGE! There is no getting around that but it is gorgeous! And peaceful! Everyone there was nice...even if the heat was awful!!
We stayed in Martinique building 22 which was fantastic. We opted not to request anything and just see where we would end up and it was great!!! From our room we could walk down one set of stairs, down a sidewalk across the parking lot and we were right at the bus stop! If we walked down the other set of stairs close to us, we went down a short sidewalk and we were at the Barbados beach which has a playset on it. From that spot we could walk a few steps one way to be at the Barbados pool and laundry or just a few steps the other way to be at the Martinique pool and laundry.
The laundry facility was very adequate and the fact that it is right at the quiet pool meant I could do a bit of laundry done while the family was playing around in the pool. The quiet pools also are nicely shaded between the trees around them and the tables with umbrellas.
A short walk from there took us to old port royale and the main pool (which the kids loved but shaded areas were hard to come by). The food at Old Port Royale was fair but that is what I would say about most of the food at Disney. They had a very nice selection in the Grab and Go (we loved the selection of fruit). The resort shop was very nice. They had great souvenirs plus all of the necessities that one may have forgotten or run out of (like sunscreen...needed a ton of that)!
Back to our room...I thought the size of the rooms were great. Much better than when we stayed at POFQ (and we really enjoyed it there but CBR just made a much greater impression on us). Our room was clean and the service was very good.
Our check in and out were super easy. We did online check in and that line tended to be quite short (yea!). When we checked in we got there at 9:30 a.m. fully expecting to store our luggage but our room was ready!
All in all a fantastic time. My only gripe would be that I wish they had a small snack shop/ grab and go in the Customs building. When we were waiting on the Magical Express to take us to the airport, we wanted to grab a snack and drink but feared it taking too long to get over to Old Port Royale and then back to the Customs house. They do have a vending machine but we had snack credits to use and would have liked that option in the building...not a full shop but just some snacks and drinks would have been great. When we stayed at POFQ we were able to run through the shop grabbing snacks and out the ME in the main building.
Please post any questions if you would like! We hope to return to CBR whenever we come back to WDW!
