Ok, the title of this thread is a little misleading.. but that was exactly how I felt when I saw the "new floor" in the food court at CBR.

What on earth were they thinking? It is horrible! Let me describe it for you...

You know how when you lay linoleum and you smear adhesive on the base floor with a trowel?

Well, there you have it. It's a charcoal brown, flat, dull, oogly looking thing.

The rest of the food court was nice although people were saying how they missed the "booth" seating. Most of those are gone with the exception of a few. The food was expensive but the "grab 'n go" was definitely a nice change.

"Shutters" replaced the old restaurant and is now at the opposite end of the food court area. It's "ok".. but I was hoping it would be a little nicer.

Thanks for the update! Did you dine at Shutters or just peek in? I'm curious what the menu was like and what they did with the decor. Thanks!

:)

Hi Misti,

We did dine there and I'm just not sure how to describe it. You know how the restaurants are usually nicer than the general food court area? I didn't get the same feeling in Shutters. I basically felt that I was still eating in the same area.. just sitting in a better chair.

It's decor is almost identical to the rest of the food court area.

Opps.. forgot your question about the meun. I had the smoked prime rib. From what I can remember, the menu is pretty much like the one from the Captain's Tavern.

Thanks, Ziggie!

That is kind of disappointing. You'd think with the amount of time they had to re-do it, they could have done some really interesting things with it. And, with the Caribbean theme, there could have been lots of neat possibilities!

I had that same feeling with Captain's Tavern--I felt like it was just an extension of the food court area.

Of course, it's only my own opinion, but I really was looking foward to something nice inside Shutters. To me, the only thing separating the Shutter's diners from the regular food court was a wall and the check-in station.

What surprised me the most was that floor though. I can't imagine what they were thinking when they made it. When a child seated near us dropped his french fry on the floor and went to pick it up, the Mother quickly got it away from him before he could put it in his mouth. She was overheard saying "no sweetie, nasty. They haven't finished the floor yet"

:p

Deb Wills has a dinner menu for Shutters on her web site if that helps anyone.

Thanks! I'll have to check that out. :)

Personally it didn't bother me with the floor. I figured the floor would be cleaner that way because there was no cracks or crevices for the stuff to be in. Probably easier to take care off.

Who is Deb Wills and what is her url please?

DisneyFreaks, is that url the same as Deb Wills? Thanks :)

Gosh, we were at CBR for 3 nights in late December and I never looked at the floor! What was I thinking? The food court was fine, we only ate breakfast there but the quality was good for that type of situation. We also spent 3 nights at AKL and the selection for breakfast for "fast food" was much better at CBR. The "sit down"restaurants are not comparable, Boma will become or already is a huge WDW favorite.:D

Yep, they're one and the same. Unless there's one I don't know about?
