Well we just got back on Tuesday from a 7 night stay at the Caribbean Beach resort. We had 2 connecting rooms in Trinidad North building 32. We were in a ground floor room, 3201 and 3202.

Bus service from the airport was fine. We were the 2nd stop, as POP was the first. We checked in online and everything was set for us at the Customs House when we got there. We had a late check in - arrived about 6pm. The Customs House is nice, the people were nice.

We took the internal bus that we waited for - like 20 minutes - to Old Port Royale stop. Our stop, Trinadad North, was under construction and the busses didn't seem to always stop there so we got off at OPR. We walked to our building, which took a few minutes and got old quick especially at the end of the day when you wanted to fill up that mug! I was glad we weren't in Aruba or anything like that - as it seemed too far to me.

Our room(s) were clean and just like the pictures you see on this website. No different. I don't know if I was expecting them to be different or not but they weren't. We called and got a roll away bed for my nephew - 3 boys in 1 room and me, my dh, and my dd in our room. The rooms were large enough I thought and I liked the curtain seperating the sinks from the beds - that was really nice for my daughter and I when changing. The beds were comfortable but let me warn you - if you are used to sleeping in a king sized bed a double bed stinks! No matter how much you love your spouse those beds are too small!!!!! I don't think I will stay in a moderate again because of those tiny beds. Everything was in working order in our room - we left the door of the cabinet open for the fridge - if you want to keep that thing cold, leave the door open otherwise things are just a little cold.

The grounds are lush and pretty. I wasn't bowled over by anything at this resort though. It was just ok. The quite pools were fine, but small I thought. The large themed pool was great for little kids - ages 10 and under. My kids went on the big slide and said that the stairs to the slide smelled like urine. There was band-aids and some type of cream smeared on the stairs. Overall my kids thought it was kinda gross and didn't go back there. The pool was also very, very busy. In the quite pools there was always big huge gobs of someones hair floating around - kinda gross to me. My kids liked the deep end of the quite pools and overall we all enjoyed our nighttime swims there. Not a lot of people and it was nice to do laundry while the kids swam.

The arcade was fun and we all enjoyed playing games there. The storegift shop was nicely stocked with whatever you needed and we like walking through there often. The food court was busy but had a decent selection of food and we ate dinner there a couple of times - mostly burgers, chicken nuggets, pizza and my dh got a phiily steak and he said it was good. We only ate breakfast there once, on our last day. It all seemed fine. I didn't like that it closed at 11pm. Sometimes we wanted drinks and it was closed.

I liked the colorful buildings, I think that the Customs house should be attached to OPR somehow - as we had to go there for car rental transportation, and to do airline check -in and then go back to our rooms - kinda a pain in the butt. There were a lot of people at the resort as a whole, as the busses were full. Bus service was good and we always were able to get right on -not always sitting -but right on.

I thought the resort was fine but I don't think I will stay there again. I have learned that if you stay delux on your first visit then you will be disappointed staying anywhere else. We stayed at the Grand Floridian in August 08 and WOW! That place is amazing. I am now a hotel snob and it isn't because the CBR is dumpy or the service wasn't good, it is/was, it is because of set up and conveniences really - balcony, indoor walkways, CS place open 24 hours, monorail/transportation and the pool was better. Everytime we saw it we would whine a little. Queen beds are a nice touch too!

All in all it was a nice place and I can see why people like it but it just wasn't for us and that's ok. I am glad I tried it and my family didn't complain so there you go.

We did get to see the AKV Kinandi Village - Oh man are those nice! We took a peek at one of the rooms the nice lady at the desk let us and I have to say the pictures on the websites don't do it any justice - the whole place is so peaceful and beautiful! If I had some money burning a hole in my pocket that is the place to buy into!!!!

Hope I didn't offend anyone with my review!

:thumbsup2Thank you so much for your honest review. We are staying at CBR for the first time in Aug. I have read many good things and some not so good. But hey we have stayed at values most of the time and had good and bad things. Aug 07 we stayed deluxe at CR and it was wonderful and yet not perfect. We absolutely hated the food court at CR and the pool wasn't that clean plus all those birds etc. hanging around and swimming in the pool was a real turn off. Was it worth $400 plus a night yes & no. But we are on vacation at WDW and that's what matters. I am happy you and your family were still able to enjoy your vacation. Thanks again. :cool1:

We love CBR and I am not offended in the least! :goodvibes

I'm sure if you are used to a deluxe CBR could have been a little disappointing to you. A balcony & more transportation options sure are convenient!

I'm glad that you experienced many of the positive things about CBR - nice CM's, good food court, big & clean rooms, pretty grounds, nice gift shop & arcade, etc. I'm sorry the stairs to the pool slide were not clean! :scared:

Hope the rest of your vacation was great! Thanks for the review.

Great review. CBR is one of my favorite resorts, but I can see why it would not be for others. It is personal taste. Sometimes you have to try resorts to see if they are your cup of tea or not. So now you know. :) Moderates can't compare to deluxes at all can they? :goodvibes My first stay was AKL and nothing will ever compare. :thumbsup2

If the budget is tight and you need to consider a moderate again, CSR has queen beds!

Thanks for the review...We stayed at CBR three times and the last two times we went to WDW we were at the Dolphin. For our July trip...we're going back to CBR because we wanted the dining plan and wanted to be at a disney owned resort.

I have had concerns going from the larger rooms at the Dolphin...I'll see how that works out.

I do have a question though. The last time we stayed at CBR...they took you and your luggage via a golf cart to your room. Do they still do that?

Well for us, we used magical express so the majority of our luggage was brought to our room that way. We took our carry on's on the internal bus to our rooms - they didn't take us in a golf cart and not because we didn't ask they just said they couldn't do it for us :confused3.

I thought the rooms were big enough in size so honestly I don't think that should be a worry for you - I mean really how much time do you spend in them right? They are bigger than POP rooms, in fact, I think they are the largest of the moderates, but someone correct me if I am wrong.

Have a great vacation!

Both times we have stayed at CBR we have been taken to our room (with our carry-ons) in a van. We have always been told no luggage on the buses.

Great review!

My family and I have been to WDW a total of 7 times since 2000. Each time we have stayed at CBR so what I am going to say is very biased. However, we just love it. When I hear the calypso music as I walk across the bridge I get goosebumps. Yes, I'm a grown man but that's how I feel!

My wife and I have given plenty of thought to trying another resort but I guess our emotional attachment is too strong at this time to pry us away. I have asked others about something comparable and many have said that Coronado Springs might be one we'd like. We'll see one day.........

As far as justifying us going to a deluxe or home away from home resort, we really can't. For the time we spend away at the attractions and parks, it's really not worth it to us. Maybe if I was to take a vacation which was ordered by a Doctor, I would spend a lot more time in my resort and therefor switch to the Poly or AKL. But for now, we'll keep going back to CBR. As far as issues, we've had two; one was a bad fridge and the other was our card key lock went bad and we couldn't get into our room. Both were fixed quickly and were no hindrance to our day or plans. I remember that we had a room near a pool one year and there was a cheer leading team there at the time. The pool was PACKED and loud. I really didn't mind but there was too many of them in the pool and it was messy. My wife called the custom house to see what they could do and they moved us into another room, credited us money for the downgrade (it's more for the pool view room), and off we went.

This was a great review; I really enjoyed reading it.

Not offended here and we love CBR. :) I understand it's not for everyone.

I do want to mention that there is a concierge desk next to the food court and they can handle airline check-in and other necessities so no need to return to the Custom House for those things.

Yes, they are the largest rooms among the moderates (340 square feet). :goodvibes

We first did the CB back in 2003 and loved it BUT once we moved here to Disney and started trying other moderates(each month we get a room for a sat night)...We started to see how the Coronado was the best moderate witht the pool and food and how the Port Orleans Riverside just had a better feel for us that is....

If you get that old $79 ish dollar rate then the Caribbian Beach is well worth it but not when its busy season and its expensive.........

Oh one more point...we did XMAS at CB and it was amazing....gifts for the kids on the door and Santa and Characters came to the hotel via a motor boat..........

I knew about the desk in the food court area - as I used it to check how many TS, QS and Snack credits I had left for each room on our dining plan but when I asked about the airline check in they told me to go to the Custom House. Again, it wasn't too troublesome just more of an inconvenience to go there and back to the room and then back up there 1.5 hours later. I guess I am more of a 1 stop shopping kinda girl!

Like I said - it was nice, no real complaints just really wasn't our taste and I thought it would be - I switched resorts only about 100 times before I said to myself your going to Florida you want palm trees and pretty flowers so CBR is it. Besides there were 6 of us and not many places accomodate that many in a party without a hefty price tag.

Our room was cleaned daily and stocked with tons of soap and towels. One day I was in the room while the maid serivce was by and I told them no cleaning today - just more towels please :) and they happily obliged. They would rinse out our mugs and set them on a towel to dry - very nice.

Well I am glad that overal your stay at CBR was more positive than negative! We love the CBR and it always bums me out when other's don't! But for sure I'm not offended because honestly, how can well all like the same things? Besides, I love CBR, but I don't own stock in the place so I never take these reviews personally!

I guess its different for everyone, after staying at the Poly, I found CBR to be more to my liking. Which my budget loves me for!

Thanks for the review.:)

That was our experience too. CSR uses golf carts, I have always seen the vans taking CBR guests to their rooms. But yes, no luggage on the busses, including the internal shuttle bus that runs through the resort (including over to Custom House).

CBR is nice was one of my first stays out at WDW.
I like PORS (port orleans riverside) is basically a laid back version of
CBR and we found we liked it better as it seems more open and floridian/bayou country

Also you have access to 2 food courts, RS and FQ one has good beef dinner other has beignyas (dessert) and milkshakes!

Has anyone seen the new Pirate rooms?

Thanks for the review! Glad you liked some things about CBR! And by the way, I can't imagine anyone being offended by this review.. I can't wait to go back to CBR in only a couple of weeks!
